Take Two of 'Top Model' Auditions Were Riot-Free at Hotel Penn

So, about a month ago, the next cycle of America's Next Top Model attempted to hold auditions at the Park Central Hotel in Manhattan. Unfortunately, if you'll recall, chaos erupted. Lip gloss and stilettos flew all over the place when someone spied a smoking car on the street and started spreading buzz about bombs. Oy. Disaster. The auditions were called off and rescheduled due to the incident.

And finally, this Saturday, take two of the NYC 'Top Model' casting call was held at an equally-luxurious (read: not so much) NYC hotel, the Hotel Pennsylvania. The New York Times was there to describe the scene:

Once the women got inside the hotel, their bags were searched, their bodies were traced with security wands and they were handed numbered stickers. They were directed up an escalator — the eager faces going up starkly contrasted by the defeated visages coming down — and into a vast, fluorescent-bathed holding room filled with 1,500 metal folding chairs. The room was never full; by midday Saturday an estimated 1,200 women had come through. Ultimately, 13 finalists from auditions in several cities will make it to the show.

The women were seated in groups of two dozen or so, and it was then that the jitters really set in. Sneakers and socks were replaced with stilettos, strapped on with trembling fingers. Mirrors were whipped out, lips were daubed with gloss and the last errant hairs were patted down. Nervous giggles often swept the groups, which, moments later, would be led into a curtained-off area for their reckoning.

Good lord. That does not sound enjoyable, does it? But on the bright side, while many women ended up in tears, nobody was physically hurt. Which is all one can really hope for, right?

'Top Model' Chaos Erupts Outside Park Central Hotel

Where: 870 7th Avenue at 56th Street [map], New York, NY, United States, 10019

Guests at the Park Central Hotel in New York — which we're familiar with due to reports of bed bug incidents and general overall dirtiness — have enough to be worried about when they check in. They're hoping for a good experience, surely, and they're almost certainly (at the very least) happy with the Midtown location at 56th Street and Seventh Ave. Even notoriously harsh TripAdvisor reviewers rave about all the cool stuff going on around the hotel.

But something tells us this weekend's Park Central guests aren't going to be raving about the "exciting hustle and bustle" of the block since they, um, found themselves in the middle of a riot. A model riot.

According to a New York Daily News report, hundreds of women were lined up to try their luck at an open casting call for America's Next Top Model when an overheated car parked on the street caused a bomb scare — which then caused chaos.
