The Closest Place to Crash After Tequila Tasting? La Cofradia Boutique Hotel
The other day we stumbled upon our dream hotel, La Cofradia Boutique Hotel in Tequila, Mexico. Yes, tequila.
The hotel, which is really comprised of four rooms next to one another, is literally steps away from the blue agave fields and the Cofradia distillery where the tequila undergoes its refinement and aging process. Each of the rooms are named after different tequila brands that are produced here.
This is a look inside the Casa Noble room, a brand of tequila which we coincidentally learned about through another hotel--Viceroy Santa Monica.

The Hilton Sedona's Prickly Pear Magarita

We've kicked off our Summer Cocktails series where we profile fun new summer drinks that hotels are making. Got one we should know about? Send us the recipe with a photo of the drink. Otherwise, enjoy and @reply us when you're wasted!
Summer is sadly winding down and this weekend is probably your last weekend to indulge in Summer Cocktails at hotels. But while folks at the Jersey Shore and The Hamptons will be mourning this unofficial end of Summer, we prefer to mark the passing of summer by the Autumnal equinox which means we have about three more weeks left to down some drinks.
At the Hilton Sedona in Arizona, they've been celebrating the desert heat with their Prickly Pear Margarita. The drink can be (probably should be) enjoyed poolside where you can admire the famous Red Rock formations of Sedona. The drink usually costs $10.37 but sometimes the hotel makes it their special Drink of the Day for $6.75 so you can splurge for a few.
Just make sure you don't drink and drive the Red Rock Scenic Byway. Save your margs for after the road trip. Room rates here begin at $189 a night.
Recipe is after the jump.

The Biltmore's Historical Tequila Sunrise

We've kicked off our Summer Cocktails series where we profile fun new summer drinks that hotels are making. Got one we should know about? Send us the recipe with a photo of the drink. Otherwise, enjoy and @reply us when you're wasted!
The last news we heard from the Arizona Biltmore was about the not-in-a-hurry renovations (dates like "sometime before 2020" were getting tossed around) so we're happy to have something more concrete to report: the Biltmore's got a special summer cocktail, and it's a classic.
Something we didn't know is that the Tequila Sunrise was apparently invented at the Biltmore, back in the 1940s when a frequent guest asked the bartender to make him up a refreshing drink to sip by the pool. So to help celebrate the Biltmore's 80th anniversary this year, they've brought their classic cocktail back to life for the summer. Of course, the price is a little more than that first guest paid back in the 1940s – these days you can get a Biltmore Original Tequila Sunrise for $14.

The Classy Way to Consume Tequila in Cabo

You know we love the infinity pools and the Department of Romance (staffed by a dedicated "Romance Coordinator") at the Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort in Cabo, but now it seems like the hotel figures all guests really need is a shot of good tequila to get the fiesta going.
Before you ask: no, this is not your chance to relive that glorious (and foggy) spring break you spent in Cancun doing body shots off sunburned coeds. The exclusive hotel is now offering classes led by their in-house Tequileros on the fine art of tequila appreciation. And you even get a diploma at the end...provided you’re coherent enough to answer the final test question.

Along Came a Margarita Trolley and All Was Well Again
It's no secret that we love margaritas at HotelChatter although we have been branching out as of late to try some of the great summer cocktails that hotels have been putting forth this summer. Yet, when a hotel introduces a Margarita Trolley, it's kind of hard to think about anything else.
The Grand Velas in Mexico, an all-inclusive resort, has just announced their Margarita Trolley in the hotel's Frida restaurant. Here's how the heavenly service works:
The Margarita Trolley is wheeled to the dinner table where diners choose from a selection of top Tequila brands - Don Julio, Herradura, Frida and Milagro - and margarita flavors. Tropical mango, tamarind, guava, cucumber and traditional lime juices are kept on ice in silver ice buckets. Once diners choose the Tequila and flavor preferences, the bartenders then prepare the margaritas table side and spice things up by serving it in a chili-salt rimmed glass.
And since the resort is all-inclusive, the margs are included in the room rate which start at around $450 for a master suite that can sleep four people.

Viceroy's Taste of Tuesdays Gives You More Than a Taste

You know how much we love Hotel Cocktails here at HotelChatter, having gathered together a whole batch of holiday cocktails to keep us feeling giddy during the festive season. And now that summer is officially here, why not cull together a list of summer cocktails? That's what we'll be doing every Friday this summer, starting today with the Margarita Lavanda, pictured above on the right.
We recently sampled this fancy margarita at the Viceroy Santa Monica during its Taste of Tuesday event, held every Tuesday from the Whist restaurant throughout the summer by the pool. Each month, a different spirit will be featured along with $5 drink and food items, $15 carafes of signature sangria and platters of five "tastes" for $20.

CasaMagna Marriott in Puerto Vallarta Produces its Own Tequila

When drunken nights happen in Mexico, instead of blaming it on the Cuervo you might be saying "blame it on the CasaMagna Marriott." That's because the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa produces their own propriety brand of tequila.
Yes, you read right. There's a CasaMagna brand of tequila made from the agave azul harvested on property. And the hotel has created a whole experience around it.
Tequila lovers (not the Tila kind), enthusiasts, connossieurs or just heavy margarita drinkers might want to consider skipping on down here for the "Secretos de la Familia" program.
The resort has a Tequila Experto (expert) on staff, certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council of Mexico (TRC). The Tequila Expert conducts tasting classes to increase guest awareness of the new found popularity of tequila. More than 117 different "by the glass" tequila options are maintained in the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort Tequila Vault for use in all the resort's food and beverage outlets.
Guests can also sit in on weekly tasting classes and get a brief history of the tequila from the Tequila Expert.
Naturally, the hotel has a packaged centered around their tequila called the Tequila Reposado package. For $263 a night, you get deluxe accommodations in an ocean view room for two, complimentary breakfast buffet for two at the resort's La Estancia restaurant, tasting of three of the resort's tequilas with a Tequila Expert and a 750 ml complimentary bottle of tequila to take home. Use the code VSR to book either online or by calling 1-888-Paradise.

'Retro-Jungle Vibes' and Free Tequila at La Zebra

Heading to the Mayan Riviera? Check out the newly renovated La Zebra Cantina & Cabanas in Tulum (about two hours south of Cancun), a nine-cabana property that promises an authentic Mexican beachfront experience.
La Zebra boasts a "retro-jungle" vibe and they describe their own decor as "jungle chic." Hmmm... we have no idea how chic or retro jungles can be, but the pictures on the website look pretty neat.

Cozumel Dive Resort Near Tequila Factory

If you are vactioning in Cozumel, more than likely, you are either a resort oriented tourist, or a serious diver.
For this example, let's assume you are a diver looking for a good jumping off point with decent beach. You know so your non certified family can snorkel and sun while you head under water.
According to our friends at ScubaBoard you might want to check out Fiesta Americana.
It isn't a real "beach" in my mind because the sand doesn't slope out into the water, it is held back from the water by a wall. Of course, this leads to better snorkeling than you would find at a sandy beach, and the shore diving is worth the time too.
Oh, and rumor has it there is a Tequila Factory nearby--we are talking stumbling distance. Is there such a thing as apres dive? If so why not get your Cuervo on before tackling the possiblity of coming down with the bends as you hit 30,000 feet on your flight home?
Diver down.
