In India, Fall Means Luxury Camping With Leopards And Tigers

The bad news, guys, is summer is ending.

The good news is, winter means opportunities to do things you couldn’t face in summer – like sleeping outdoors in India. Especially when it’s tiger season.

This month sees the (re)opening of three tented camps from Sujan in Rajasthan: Sher Bagh, in Ranthambhore, the Serai in Jaisalmer, and Jawai Leopard Camp.

Sher Bagh (top pic) isn’t new, but it’s been completely renovated for the 2014 season, with all tents getting their ensuite bathrooms refurbished and enlarged (yes, ensuite bathrooms being enlarged - as you can imagine, these aren’t your ordinary tents). Two new suites have also been created – one with a walled garden, one with a private pool (and both with butlers). The location, meanwhile, is tiger central – 81% of visitors last year saw at least two per day.

Only Thirteen Days 'Til Cornwall's Pop-Up Hotel Goes Bye-Bye

When was the last time you went camping? If you have to think about it, it's been too long. Which probably means you're a little rusty on the whole 'great outdoors' thing. To ease yourself back in, consider a night or two inside one of the Pop-Up Hotel's yurt-style rooms in Cornwall, England.

Rather than some other outlandish, gimmicky pop-ups we've seen in Europe, these are meant to be practical open-air retreats, modeled after the classic bell tent design. Of course, the alfresco high-life only gets you so far: once the bad weather hits (as it's prone to do in sunny England!), that sloping canvas roof might not look quite so appealing!
