We’ve been fans for a while now of Austria’s Weitzer Hotels: a teeny, family-run hotel chain of just four properties in Graz and Vienna. From the honey produced on the roof of the Vienna property to the magnificent new Speisesaal at the Wiesler Graz, they’re continually innovating. And now here comes the best innovation yet: the Loft Cube, a room on top of the roof of Hotel Daniel Graz.
Available from May 6 (yes, that is exactly a year since we took you inside on opening day), the Shangri-La Suite is one of three “final and most spectacular suites” of the hotel, the other two being the Westminster and London Suites. We talked about these way back when, with their completion at the time projected for fall last year, but here they finally are.
Above a rendering of the Shangri-La suite’s living room, which comes in at 188 sq m (2,023 sq ft) and comes with 180-degree views of the city from floor 39. Creams and golds dominate (or for the more refined: “champagne, citrine, and bronze), with all furniture custom designed for the suite. Access is through a private elevator, there is a 24-hour butler, and you will have a private chauffeur, too.
The Vivienne Westwood-inspired penthouse suite for the luxury hotel will feature exclusive art and customized furnishings, as well as perks for the suite's guests such as--one hour of private shopping at the Vivienne Westwood store in West Hollywood and a special discount on all purchases; His and Her gift bags from Vivienne Westwood upon check-in; and Vivienne Westwood-branded amenities within the suite.
At 11,000-sq.ft., it will be the largest hotel suite in Los Angeles when it opens on May 18. Here's a bit more on the layout and style of the bi-level, two-bedroom suite, including its impressive rooftop terrace, all of which was done in collaboration with Richmond Design. There are a lot of design details to pore over, and since we don't want any of you eagle-eyed fashionistas to miss out, we've put the official suite description down below.
Alas, such a couture stay and all the Vivienne Westwood perks come at a very haute couture price--$25,000 a night. However, the hotel will also unveil three Metropolitan suites on May 18, ranging from 1,600-2,200-sq.ft. and which may be slightly more affordable.
The suites' unveiling will mark the end of the hotel's $25 million renovation, which has created a 110-seat Screening Room, along with new junket suites, new ninth floor suitesand a new 2,600-sq.ft. fitness center. We just hope those sacred Vivienne Westwood scarves are on a strict lockdown.

We’ve seen London hotel rooms with balconies, terraces, and outright gardens, but retractable roofs that turn it into an indoor/outdoor space where you can still watch TV even if a little British rain makes an appearance?
That’s a new one we think, on offer from May onwards at The Marylebone Hotel, when three new suites – the Marylebone, the Wimpole, and the Harley – will come online. Above a shot of the Marylebone suite’s terrace, the largest at 860 square feet inside and 430 square feet underneath that retractable roof. And yes, that is a fireplace you spot underneath the TV.
Yes, we did say inside two of the top suites at The Peninsula Paris, and we will take you on a full tour, but we had to start with this: a shot from the private rooftop garden of La Suite Katara, a vast outdoor space with knee-buckling views of Paris, including the replica of l’Oiseau Blanc (the French bi-plane that disappeared during its attempt to complete the first transatlantic flight) suspended next to the restaurant of the same name and the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
Part of a trio (the third being the Historic Suite), La Suite Katara and La Suite Peninsula are the latest addition that round out the total of 200 rooms and suites in the 1908 grand hotel on Avenue Kléber. Ready to see what $22,000 and up a night gets you in the City of Light? Here we go.
Back in November, InterContinental Hotels reopened the former Ritz-Carlton in Sydney’s Double Bay as its second property in the city, following a multi-year closure and renovation of the hotel. Many a hotel in the central business district, including the ‘other’ InterContinental, can give you the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House views the city is famous for, but back in the day the likes of Madonna, Bill Clinton, and Princess Diana all opted to stay here instead. We wondered why, so we made the 15-minute cab ride to Double Bay and peeked inside the Royal Suite to find out.
Set on the hotel’s fifth floor, the Royal Suite is a one-bedroom suite with living room, study, bedroom, ensuite bathroom, powder room, dining room, pantry, and option for a connecting bedroom. The contemporary design really worked for us, with pale herringbone hardwood floors, white walls, and dark wood – but the real draw is in the direction of the light streaming in through the arched windows.

This is definitely not your mother’s penthouse suite, but for its unique design, funky features, and creative amenities, could be the “mother of all penthouses” for the hip (or hip hop) Manhattan lifestyle seeker.
The zany world of hotel penthouse design just got a new entry and the bar is now officially raised. Dream Hotels, the artsy brand that dares to go where no one else goes, has unveiled the new GuestHouse at Dream Downtown. With its vibrant design and endless amenities, sleeping is probably not high on the list of things to do.

After hearing about the special Signature Suites inside the Loews Regency New York since last summer, including one designed by Nate Berkus, this hotel design nerd was pretty excited to finally get to explore every high-end nook and cranny at an event hosted by Loews earlier this week. Here are her reactions:

Hotel Texas in Fort Worth
Fort Worth is well-known for its friendly rivalry with Dallas, one that pins the country feel of the former against the modern development of the latter. But there's a ying and yang within Fort Worth itself as well. Downtown Fort Worth is developing nicely into a mini-metro, yet the Stockyards remain frozen in time, a tribute to the city's origins as a town of cowboys and cattle.
Experiencing this contrast between city and cowboy when visiting Fort Worth is a must, and your hotel selection can go a long way towards achieving this.
The last time we heard about the Greenwich in TriBeCa, it was offering to bring you a Christmas tree direct to your suite. Now, more
suite sweet news: the hotel has opened a new, top suite: the TriBeCa Penthouse.
We said over the summer that entry-level Luxury Kings at the newly renovated Loews Regency Hotel in New York are a pretty excellent room choice already, but now, as the hotel wraps up its overhaul, it’s adding more choice with six designer-led Signature Suites.
You guessed right that one of those designers is Oprah’s own go-to guy Nate Berkus, who redid a 1,000 sq ft one-bedroom suite on the 21st floor. Above the bedroom, which we have to say, like most of his designs, we like a whole lot. It’s contemporary, uncluttered, and with interesting patterns, colors, and materials. More shots of the suite, and others, below.
