Hard Rock Macau's Got A Fancy Rock And Roll Suite

If you're a fan of Asian pop music then you're bound to know that Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung is quite a star – they even call him the "God of Songs" in that part of the world. Knowing that, the fact that there's now a Jacky Cheung Rock Star Suite at Macau's Hard Rock Hotel is pretty cool news.
Even if you don't know too much about Jacky Cheung, you'll learn plenty by staying in his suite. You'll be greeted by a video of Jacky explaining both the elements of design in the room and his favorite spots to visit in Macau. The room itself includes plenty of Jacky Cheung memorabilia, including his own white baby grand piano, a microphone, gloves and a CD of his favorite songs. Oh, and there are life-size photos of Jacky Cheung in concert on the walls. On second thoughts, if you don't know him, staying in this room could be a little freaky.

Stay at the Buckingham Hotel's Penthouse For a Song

If you’ve dreamed of living in a New York penthouse but only ever get as far as flipping through the ads in the Times real estate section, you might now be closer to living your dream thanks to the Buckingham Hotel. Sitting atop the small boutique hotel near Carnegie Hall is The Martinelli Penthouse, which was once home to opera singer Giovanni Martinelli when he was performing at the Met, and also used by musical star Bobby Van as a dance studio.
Now, the two-bedroom duplex with a totally awesome terrace is available for meetings, private parties, and of course as hotel accommodations for cashed-up guests. We know, we know, you’re thinking: why are you telling me this? I could never afford something so luxurious. That’s what we thought—but then we learned that the Buckingham has slashed the regular rate for the penthouse by 50%.

Laguna's Casa del Camino Just Got a Whole Lot Cooler

On what ended up being a sunny, yet slightly overcast day in Laguna Beach, we had the opportunity to check out ten recently overhauled rooms at La Casa del Camino, a comfortable boutique hotel that lies just above the city's famed shoreline. And just in case you're wondering, no, we didn't run into any ex-cast member of a certain O.C. reality television show.
Anyways, we're of the "we have to see it to believe it" variety; almost daily we catch wind of the latest multi-million dollar renovation, but it takes an in-person visit to determine exactly what makes those new, meticulously chosen linens and architectural changes worth a guest's time and, sometimes, extra money.
Casa del Camino's Surf Project differs from your run-of-the-mill update for many reasons. Not one, but ten designers were paired up with ten quintessentially Orange County companies that represent the best of surf and skate culture, from Roxy to bikini line L*Space. When we first entered the hotel, its traditional Spanish architecture, soft, recessed lighting, and a familiar seaside bungalow ambiance belied the hypermodern changes that lay inside the ten rooms.

The Beverly Hills Hotel To Get Newer, Posher Bungalows

We are suckers for old luxury hotels and the Beverly Hills Hotel is one of our favorites, not just because of its long history with silver screen stars or the guaranteed celeb sightings in the hotel's coffee shop but also because of the luxe bungalows that have been frequented by icons such as Marilyn Monroe (Bungalow #1), John Lennon and Yoko Ono (#9) and our personal fave, Phyllis Nefler.
The Pink Palace has 21 Bungalows in total (in addition to 200 rooms in the main building) and once you've stayed in one, you'll find it really hard to want to stay in the main building again. The bungalows feel like your own little apartment in the impressive 90210-zipcode rather than a standard hotel room. Yes, the furnishings might be a little too grand or fancy for your tastes but hello, this is Beverly Hills. And PS, the bathrooms are enormous.

Four Seasons Chicago Unveils New Suites

And it's not a chintzy continental breakfast, either. The Midwest Breakfast comes with fresh juice; two eggs with bacon, ham or sausage; hash browns; pastries; and coffee, hot chocolate or tea.

Inside a Paramount Suite At theWit Hotel Chicago
Please allow us to remind you that Chicago is not New York, and nowhere is this more apparent than at theWit Hotel in Chicago, where the Paramount Suite (pictured above and in the gallery below) begins at only $450 a night. What will $450 get you in NYC, you ask? Well, not even one night in the most standard room at the new Crosby Street Hotel, for example, or maybe only a few hours of sitting in the lobby of The Pierre. In the Windy City however, you'll get a full-size kitchen with Wolfgang Puck coffeemaker, two bathrooms, and a wall of windows with all imaginable views of downtown.

Soak and Stare at The Eiffel Tower from Plaza Athenee

We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
Whenever you stay in Paris, wherever you stay, having a view of the Tour Eiffel is probably at the top of your Parisian wish list. Well, if you have more money than Bill Gates you want the best view a hotel has to offer, then you should consider this suite at the Plaza Athenee where you can gaze at the Eiffel in all its grandeur, naked, from your suite's bathtub.

Eloise to Get Her Own Funky Suite at The Plaza

Is the Plaza turning into the ultimate girly hotel? First the ladies of "Sex and the City." Now Bestey and Eloise.
Perhaps realizing what a faux pas it was to mess with Eloise's house in the first place, The Plaza has just announced a partnership with fashion designer Betsey Johnson to create a one-of-a-kind Eloise Suite inside their hotel. Straight from the official announcement:
The Plaza's two-bedroom Eloise Suite will be whimsically decorated in a color palette of "Eloise pink" and black, and will be full of surprises and distinct "Eloise moments" throughout the guest room. The layout will include one room for parents and a separate Eloise bedroom for the young and young at heart decorated by Betsey Johnson. Plans for the Eloise suite at The Plaza Hotel will begin following New York fashion week.
Conveniently, the Plaza's restored Palm Court will be host to Johnson's Spring 2010 fashion show tonight. As for the suite, no word on the pricing but expect it to be extravagant since regular rooms at the Fairmont Hotel start around $500 a night. And the current Live Like Eloise package starts at $895 a night.
Whatever the folks pay, there better be a Nanny and a pet pug for rent and a turtle chillin' in the bathtub when guests check-in. Just sayin'.

The Canopy Tree House Suite: The Best Room in The Entire Forest

HotelChatter love love loves Treehouse Hotels. We don't know why. Maybe we watched the "Swiss Family Robinson" way too many times on the Disney Channel growing up. But either way, we love 'em and this new Canopy Tree House Suite at the Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica in Peru has us extremely giddy.
If you're looking to spice up your next hotel stay, you must book this suite which sits 90 feet above the forest floor and offers up close and personal viewing of toucans, monkeys, orchids and fauna. But it's not just a wooden plank that's been plopped into a tree and secured by a few nails. No, the thatched roof and wooden treehouse is not only exclusive but a little ritzy too. Well, as ritzy as you can get in a rainforest.
From the hotel:
The Tree House can only be accessed via Inkaterra’s existing Canopy Walk network and is serviced by a dedicated Canopy Butler reachable via walkie-talkie. Meals, excursions, and sundowners on the Canopy Walk network can be arranged by your butler.

Here's Hoping the Recession Will Be Done Soon: Fairmont San Fran Renovating Its Penthouse
You heard the news, right? The recession is over! Newsweek says it is so. Need further proof? The Fairmont San Francisco says so, too!
OK, so they didn’t actually put in those words. Not exactly. But the hotel did announce that it’s restoring its super fancy “iconic” penthouse this fall.
The opulent 6,000 square-foot space, valued at $20 million, was built in 1926 as a private residence and was made available to hotel guests in 1981. The Penthouse Suite takes up an entire floor and has three large bedrooms, a living room, grand piano, formal dining room for 60, a kitchen, a billiards room covered in Persian tile, a massive patio, and a two-storey circular library, with a secret passageway concealed behind bookshelves.

The Superest Super 8 of Them All?

You don't want to know how we stumbled upon this TripAdvisor review for the Super 8 Airport South in Austin, Tex. but we sure are glad that our dubious internet skills took us here. That's because we might have found the superest Super 8 of them all.
The reviewer mentioned that the hotel's lobby had a Nintendo Wii for guests to use. Yes, a Wii which proves that Wiis are not just limited to Westins and boutique hotels.
But looking around some more, we saw that the hotel was ranked the #2 hotel in Austin by reviewers. So what gives? It can't be entirely due to the Wii, could it? Well we noticed that guests loved the amenities offered in-room such as lots of pillows on the bed and the flat-screen TVs (The suites have 52-inch flat screens too.) But also outside the rooms, guests were impressed by the food offerings and the free internet. We're also impressed by the fact that the entire hotel is non-smoking. A trucker stop, this is not.

How We Spent The Morning 'Waking Up in Vegas'
So you all know by now how we scored this ridiculous suite at Planet Hollywood to spend the night in last week but when we shot the video room tour, it was nighttime and you couldn't quite see how amazing that view was.
Never fear. We made sure to film this killer view when we woke up in the morning so you could Las Vegas in all its sunshine-y glory. For the first time in a while, we spent our time "waking up in Vegas" (cue the Katy Perry song) just admiring the view.
Remember, this was a Panorama Suite on the 26th floor. The price: $72 all in on Hotwire. Someone in hotel heaven was looking down on us. Or else, they just felt bad about our last view at PH.
