February 3, 2011 at 4:09 PM | by | Comments (0)

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

Commenter David Ferner had a fair question after reading one of our recent Super Bowl XLV hotel round-ups: Is it possible to Hotwire (or Quikbook or Priceline) up a room in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for February 6? We decided to find out!

A bathroom with a $42,650 view. Plus tax.

The race to capitalize on Super Bowl XLV is in full swing with packages in Dallas, a Bud Light-branded hotel and even an island escape installing a 16-foot screen to broadcast the game on February 6. But this package from the Mandarin Oriental New York currently holds the top spot on our "Wait, will anyone actually book that?" list.

On offer: one night in the hotel's Presidential or Oriental suite, game-time catering for up to 15, and a bottle of 50-year-old Scotch that's responsible for most of the cost of this February 6-only offer. The rate? $37,150 for the Oriental suite or $42,650 for the Presidential. Plus tax.

The Omni Fort Worth is Ready for Some Football (And So Is Everyone Else)

January 28, 2011 at 8:51 AM | by | Comments (0)

Last week as we waited to see who would be heading to the Super Bowl, the host hotels in the Dallas-Fort Worth area--Omni Fort Worth and Omni Mandalay--told HotelChatter they were getting excited for the wraps that would be going up on the hotels' exterior with the Super Bowl XLV logo. And today, we've got a snapshot of that.

This is the Omni Fort Worth which will be taking arrivals from the Pittsburgh Steelers team on Monday (their friends and families will arrive on Thursday.) Looking good!

As the room hunt in the Dallas area continues (and with prices rising by the minute), hotels elsewhere are finding their own ways to get in on the Big Game action.

Where Green Bay and Pittsburgh Fans Get Still Get Rooms for Super Bowl XLV

January 23, 2011 at 10:19 PM | by | Comments (2)

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

The two teams for Super Bowl XLV have been set and the Green Bay Packers will be shacking up at the Omni Mandalay while the Pittsburgh Steelers will be shacking up at the Omni Fort Worth. But if you're a Packers or a Steelers fan, where do you stay?

Well, your best bet for finding hotels with availability is to start looking for a four-night stay from February 3-February 7 which is the minimum time frame most hotels in the area are asking. You may be able to finagle three nights or less at the budget brands but this city is filling up fast.

The Omni Dallas at Park West which had rooms open last week, is now sold-out. Checking on Expedia, however, we see that the The Admiral Hotel, is still open but has bumped its rate up to about $285 a night.

The Four Seasons Chicago Gets All Psyched for Da Bears' Big Game

There's no doubt about it; Chicago looooooves its sports teams and their fans! Just like when the Peninsula Chicago's lions dressed up to support the Blackhawks in their bid for the Stanley Cup, so we see that both of the Windy City's Four Seasons is getting in the spirit for the big Bears game this Sunday. Their doormen—and even the taxi-hailing statue outside the Delaware Place Four Seasons—are donning their jersey, scarves and hats in anticipation.

The Chicago Bears will be playing the Green Bay Packers for a slot in at Super Bowl XLV. And if we had to take a side, we'd take up the Bears' cause alongside the Four Seasons. After all, the Peninsula's dressing up in Blackhawks gear worked; they won the Stanley Cup. Now we've got our fingers crossed that luck is still on Chicago's side.

What Goes On Inside The Team Hotels During Super Bowl?

January 19, 2011 at 11:08 AM | by | Comments (2)

Who's gonna be spending a week at the Omni Hotel in Dallas?

Right now, as you read this, representatives from the four teams in contention for the Super Bowl--the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers--are on the ground in Dallas and guess what they are doing? Scoping out hotel rooms.

Of course, they don't have to book a hotel room like the rest of us do since the host hotels for Super Bowl XLV were decided upon a long time ago. But the reps are sizing up the hotels and making sure they are up to snuff for when their team (hopefully) arrives on January 31st.

And the Omni Forth Worth Hotel and the Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas are ready to handle whatever requests they have.

The Omni Forth Worth will be hosting the AFC Champion team (players, coaches, and their friends and families) along with some NFL sponsors in its 600+ rooms. The Omni Mandalay will be hosting the NFC Champion team in their 421 rooms.

Curious about what goes on at a Super Bowl host hotel, we chatted with Dan Piotrowski, general manager at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel and Patty Cipoletti, director of sales and marketing for the Omni Mandalay to learn more about the hotel ops before the Big Game.

January 18, 2011 at 12:03 PM | by | Comments (2)

By now you can probably tell we've gone a little gonzo over here for Super Bowl XLV but we just can't control ourselves, not especially after learning that the Aloft Dallas will turn itself into the BUD LIGHT HOTEL during Super Bowl weekend.

The 193-room Bud Light Hotel will feature a Texas-sized tent (132' x 230'), which will transform the hotel's parking lot into a premiere concert venue capable of hosting 3,500-plus guests (21 years of age and older). Officially opening on Thursday, February 3, the venue will feature a star-studded line-up of concerts and exclusive events, including the Playboy party on Friday, February 4.

The tent will also be a sort of "Around the World" party--you know, like the ones you used to have in your dorms except partiers can "visit" five cities where former and current Playboy Clubs exist--Las Vegas, Macau, London, South Beach and Cancun.

With the Jets still in contention to go-all-the-way, we admit it: we've thought about looking for flights to and hotels in Pittsburgh and Dallas. But you know what's a hell of a lot more fun than thinking about a hotel room in Dallas? Watching the Super Bowl from an oceanview hotel room in Turks & Caicos.

The Gansevoort Turks & Caicos gets it. They're getting a 16-foot big-screen TV ready to set up on Grace Bay Beach, and finalizing plans for a sand-in-your-toes tailgate party complete with drinks specials and wings.

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

While some NFL fans are scrambling to get to either Pittsburgh or Chicago this weekend, many of them are still holding out for the ultimate game, Super Bowl XLV in Dallas on February 6.

We've been keeping a running list of hotels in the Dallas area with hotel rooms open and the good news is there are still plenty of places to crash. But if you have a discerning taste in hotel rooms (i.e. not the Super 8 on the highway 45 miles away from the stadium), the good spots are mostly sold-out.

However, we did learn that the Omni Dallas at Park West , about 20 miles from Cowboy Stadium, still has rooms open and the rates are not totally obscene. Here's what the hotel is offering with its special Super Bowl Package:

Pittsburgh and Chicago Hotels Still Wide-Open for Football Fans

January 17, 2011 at 8:46 AM | by | Comments (3)

UPDATE: Check out the comments section below for more hotel deals.

With the New York Jets pulling off a stunning win against the New England Patriots last night and the Chicago Bears predictably triumphing over the Seattle Seahawks, the conference championships for next weekend are set. And what that really means is, you super fans need to book your hotel rooms now.

Let's look at the two host cities....

Pittsburgh: The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Jets on their home turf on Sunday. The good thing about Pittsburgh is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on a hotel room as budget brands abound. However, if you like four-star and above, there are really only four options.

Checking on HotelRates.HotelChatter.com, rooms were still available at the new Fairmont Pittsburgh for $329 a night. For a look inside the hotel, see our review here. We also found the Omni William Penn Hotel for $359 a night while the Westin Pittsburgh was available for $249 and the Renaissance Pittsburgh was open for $307 a night. Plenty of budget hotel like Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn and Quality Inn were open for under $150 a night.

January 11, 2011 at 9:27 AM | by | Comments (5)

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

After this past weekend's wildcard games, with shocking wins by the Seahawks and the Jets, the race to Dallas for Super Bowl XV has now officially begun. And so has the race for hotel rooms.

We've been keeping tabs on Dallas-area hotels with availability here and surprisingly, several legit hotels still have rooms open.

The first is the Admiral Hotel which is just two miles from Cowboy Stadium. The hotel tells us they have free WiFi and and onsite Sports Bar and Grille and Club. For rates for Super Bowl weekend call 817-640-7712.

There Should Be Plenty of Hotel Rooms for Super Bowl XLV in Dallas But Where?

December 23, 2010 at 1:20 PM | by | Comments (0)

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

We haven't even celebrated Christmas or New Year's yet but we've already got our minds tuned into the Super Bowl XLV Hotel Scene in Dallas.

The other week we told you that there were still plenty of somewhat reasonable options near Cowboy Stadium and a few commenters added a couple of other suggestions too.

But before you start to get worried that all the hotels will get booked out, the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee has recently gone on record saying that, "There are enough hotel rooms in the area to accommodate all of the Super Bowl travelers coming in."

Which means doing home rentals of any sort will not be necessary. That is, unless you want all of your old fraternity brothers to watch the game together.

So now what other hotels still have availability for Super Bowl XV?
