Game Day Rivalry for Two Renaissance Hotels

January 30, 2009 at 12:20 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's no secret hotels love the Super Bowl and it's not just hotels in the host city either. (This year it's Tampa.) Two Renaissance Hotels, one in Pittsburgh and one in Glendale, Ariz., have wagered a friendly bet with each other over who will win the game. No money is involved but the losing team's pride will definitely be crushed.

the day after the Big Game, which is Feb. 1, the General Manager in the losing city will welcome guests in the lobby wearing the winning team’s jersey. From Feb. 2 to 8, 2009, the hotel lounge in the losing city will feature a food special named for the champion team, and will offer it free to guests who show a driver’s license listing the winning city’s address (Pittsburgh, Pa. or Glendale, Ariz.).

In Glendale, if the Steelers beat the Cardinals, the Renaissance Glendale Resort and Spa will serve The Roethlisburger #7, a 7-ounce ground Angus beef burger with fried eggs, American cheese, mayonnaise, shredded lettuce and green chili sport relish on a hoagie roll.

In Pittsburgh, if the Cardinals beat the Steelers, the Bridge bar at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel will serve the Arizona Cardinal Wings. These items are free so long as you show your winning state license and order a full-priced food or beverage item.

The Renaissance Pittsburgh is also going all out before the Super Bowl. Right now, if you show your "Terrible Towel" aka annoying fan gear you can register to win a two-night stay at the hotel.

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

Another day, another hotel has rooms open for Super Bowl XLIII. Today it's the Embassy Suites Tampa Airport/Westshore with availability. A rep from the hotel contacted us to say that the hotel currently has 25 rooms open for the Big Game.

While many hotels we've covered are further outside of Tampa, this one is two miles from Tampa Stadium. But that proximity is going to cost ya.

The required stay is 1/29-2/2/09 and the rate is $1,050 per night.

At that rate and with the three-night minimum, your total will come out to $3,150. The hotel does have a restaurant on-site, as well as cooked-to-order breakfasts and a nightly manager's reception that serves snacks and drinks. So we suggest splitting that rate and the two-room suites with a couple of friends.

January 19, 2009 at 10:06 AM | by | Comments (2)

It's official--the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers will be facing off against each other in this years Super Bowl XLIII. Since Steelers fans are crazy towel-waving fans and since Arizona has never made the Super Bowl before, the race is on for hotel rooms in Tampa Bay. Here are a couple openings that we've learned about:

· Barefoot Beach Resort: Located about 35 minutes from the stadium, this resort has a quaint full-sized condo available for $259 a night but there is a four-night minimum.

· Hotels.com: The booking site has a whole bunch of options available for the Super Bowl. Most are in St. Petersburg but in Tampa there are some La Quinta Inns and Red Roof Inns available in the $200+ range.

· Omni Orlando at Championsgate: Yes, this hotel is in Orlando which is about an hour away from Tampa (probably more considering traffic) but if you want to make it a real Floridian vacation you can go to Disney World after the Super Bowl. Hopefully, your team's QB will be going there too. Rates start at $289 $249 a night and there's a sports bar inside the hotel called David's Club.

Super Bowl Hotel Rooms Opening Up for NFL Fans

January 14, 2009 at 10:45 AM | by | Comments (4)

It's Super Bowl Hotel Season again. While Jaunted has you covered on actually getting to Tampa, we are rounding up the hotel rooms that are still open. Got a hotel room? Let us know where and for how much.

If your team has a 50/50 chance of making it into the Super Bowl and you wanna be prepared to see them go all the way, there are some options opening up. As usual, the further away you are from the stadium the better the chances of finding a cheap hotel room. Here's a few to get you started:

· The Plantation Golf Resort and Spa: $149 a night. The hotel is located in Crystal River, Florida, which is about an hour north of Tampa. This actually looks like a peaceful retreat which you might need if you are a little too tense about the game. And if you want to make the most out of your Florida vacation, the hotel offers a swim with manatees experience.

·Bayview Plaza Waterfront Resort: This teeny hotel is right on Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg (about 30 mins. from Tampa) on a little island called St. Pete Beach. It even has its own little private fishing pier. Rooms are going for $150 a night and there is a 3-night minimum but we just want you to carefully peruse the hotel's website before you book. Jimmy Buffett fans might approve but your wife may not. Its sister property, Plaza Beach, also has similar rates for its rooms.

· JUST ADDED: Extended Stay Hotels: Extended Stay Hotels has four properties within four miles of the Super Bowl Stadium ranging from $249-$399 a night. The Extended Stay Hotels in St. Petersburg and Clearwater start at $199 a night. Visit the website for more information.

Where To Get Super Bowl XLIII Hotel Rooms in Tampa

January 12, 2009 at 10:01 AM | by | Comments (8)

Know of a hotel room open for Super Bowl? Tell us where right here.

The four teams have now been solidified for the NFL playoffs--Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Arizona and Baltimore--meaning fans from all of those cities will be hoping their team makes it to the Super Bowl on February 1 in Tampa Bay. The hope and excitement can run so high that these fans will be online searching for hotel rooms in the Tampa area "just in case."

They might be disappointed.

Already room rates are getting jacked up. On a cursory search on Expedia.com, for the dates Jan. 30-Feb.3rd, we found only budget hotels still with availability and everything was in the mid-hundreds. When a La Quinta Inn can charge $239 a night and a Holiday Inn $450, it's bad.

Over at SuperBowlHotelRooms.com, a sort of hotel broker for big events like this, the site has listed the Hilton Resort and Spa for $600 a night, the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk for $999 a night (three nights minimum) and the Hard Rock Seminole at $1,800 for three nights. Yikes. It will be very interesting to see whether Americans will pony up those big bucks in this economy.
