Last-Minute Super Bowl Hotel Rooms, Two-a-Day Edition

February 2, 2007 at 11:04 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

When the game's over, send us your Super Bowl hotel and party pics or upload them to the HotelChatter Flickr Pool.

We thought early this morning your only hope was some poor New Orleans fan trying to get rid of hotel rooms on Miami Craigslist.

But we just got word from a Hyatt Select representative that two of their Miami hotels still have rooms available and are extremely affordable.

The AmeriSuites Miami is about 30 miles from Dolphin Stadium and has suites open for $189 a night, no minimum stay required. The suites come with in-room microwave and refrigerator, free WiFi, and free hot breakfast. There's also a fitness center and swimming pool on site.

The only downside here is that you are right off the Florida Turnpike. But if you are driving to the stadium and back, this is an easy stop.

At the Summerfield Suites, 1/4 miles from the Miami aiport and about 19 miles from the stadium, there are one and two-bedroom suites available starting at $199 a night, with no minimum stay required. Each suite has a living room with a pull-out couch, workspace, internet, full kitchen and a private bedroom with phone and TV. There's also free breakfast, complimentary airport shuttle and a fitness center and outdoor swimming pool.

The downside here normally would be that it's right by the airport and strictly a business traveler's hotel. But with no minimum stay requirement, this is a good pick for you and your friends willing to sleep on the sofa couch.

(Thanks Michael!)

Last-Minute Super Bowl Hotel Rooms Found on Craigslist

February 2, 2007 at 8:48 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

When the game's over, send us your Super Bowl hotel and party pics or upload them to the HotelChatter Flickr Pool.

With Super Bowl Sunday coming up quick, most people attending the game or the parties have already landed in Miami. But should you decide you to head to Miami on a whim, Craiglist is popping with people trying to unload their hotel rooms.

We found these few:

· The Shelbourne Hotel in South Beach for $450 a night
· Wyndham Miami Airport for $500 a night
· The Betsy Ross in South Beach for $600 a night
· Hilton Airport for $250 a night, three nights minimum.

For other hotel room suggestions, check out the slew of Super Bowl hotel stories that we have done for the past two weeks. But we can't guarrantee these hotels will still have rooms open. We did our best but c'mon, the Super Bowl does start in about 2 days 12 hours 19 minutes and 13 seconds. As our wise 7th grade social studies teacher once told us--If you fail to plan, plan to fail.

Royal Palm Hotel Has Rooms for Super Bowl But Parties? Not So Much

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms or kick-ass hotel parties for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

Looks like the Royal Palm Hotel still has some rooms open for this weekend's big game. There's no minimum stay, but if you just want to crash Sunday night, it'll cost you $1,200. A better deal can be had with a multiple night stay--Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights will cost you $699 per night. Thursday's going for only $299. The Royal Palm is on Collins Ave. so there's bound to be plenty of partying going on--or so we'd assume.

See, we told you about the Royal Palm back in September, when plans for the Maxim Lounge were first announced. The lounge will be open for Super Bowl weekend, but that leaves us with one question: Why is Maxim having its Super Bowl party at 8pm on Feb. 2 at The Sagamore?

Hampton Inn and Suites Has $299 Rooms Open For Super Bowl

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms or kick-ass hotel parties for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

The Hampton Inn & Suites in Miami West at Doral Boulevard has rooms open for Super Bowl at the totally do-able price of $299 a night. You can select from either a king bed or two double beds. Suites with full kitchens go up to $399 a night.

And as far as we can tell there is no minimum nights stay required. You can book a room for Sunday, checking out Monday morning still at the $299 rate. Plus the TripAdvisor reviews are above average.

As far as getting to South Beach for parties and to Dolphin Stadium for the actual game, this Hampton Inn is about 20 minutes away from both.

One thing we can vouch for is the nearby Dolphin Mall (.5 miles away). This is a mix of outlet stores and small retail shops but there is Saks Off 5th Avenue and a Neiman Marcus Last Call there which we've have personally hit up several times before.

So if ladies are on the trip and bored, this mall is worth checking out.

(Thanks Lauren!)

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Has Rooms and Parties Open for Super Bowl

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms or kick-ass hotel parties for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

The Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla is about 20 minutes away from the Super Bowl's Dolphin Stadium and about 40 minutes away from South Beach. And unlike an airport hotel in Miami, rooms here are less than $700 a night, but not by much.  We found rooms available on Friday night for $349 but which then jump up to $509 for Saturday and Sunday.

Aside from being close to the action and having hotel rooms available the Seminole Hard Rock is hosting a slew of Super Bowl parties this week. Tonight is the premiere event with a full-length concert by Prince at Hard Rock Live. Starting at 8pm, Prince (who is the featured performer for the Super Bowl's halftime show) will be performing all his greatest hits like "When Doves Cry" "1999 and "Purple Rain." Come to think of it, we are not sure we know any "new" Prince songs. Either way, tickets range from $100-$400 and are available through Ticketmaster.com, as are all the events at the Hard Rock.

Deadspin's Super Bowl Hotel Review

Where: 1825 Collins Ave [map], Miami Beach, FL, United States, 33139
January 30, 2007 at 5:55 PM | by markj | 0 Comments

Down in Miami it is Super Bowl XLI Media Day.  No idea if the folks from Deadspin are credential toting, or, more likely, party crashing, but one thing is for sure, they are on the scene. AJ Daulerio, who if we aren't mistaken, filled us in on the Detroit festivities last year, will get to hang out in a place people actually want to go to this time around--Miami.

Of course Gawker Media sprung for a hotel right on Collins--Royal Palm or the Raleigh right?

Hardly, AJ checked into the Continental OceanFront Hotel and here is what he found:

*No parking
*No internet in the room
*Lots of Indian fellas dressed in hip-hop gear.

Plus, the room itself, although equipped with a double-bed and most of the amenities suitable for halfway house poshness, comes with a television that has three working channels. It's not as bad as "cheese or snow," but Telemundo and ABC, which are only minor upgrades. Tonight, I shall shower with lye and dry myself off with the sanitary strip covering the toilet seat, which will be much more effective than the towels provided.

In our opinion he went easy on the place, but we are enjoying his Super Bowl coverage, as always.

There are still plenty of decent rooms to be had in Miami, check our latest mumblings on such rooms here.

Club Med, Hilton, Crowne Plaza and Sheraton Have Hotel Rooms Open For Super Bowl

January 30, 2007 at 9:20 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

With just five days to go until the Super Bowl, there's no need to stress about finding a hotel room as there are plenty of options available.

Even Club Med Sandpiper in South Florida wants to get in on the Super Bowl action, despite being a two hour drive from Miami. From Feb. 2-8, the resort is offering a special rate of $150 a night. But don't expect some wild Super Bowl party here as the resort is extremely family oriented.

Meanwhile the Miami Herald reports that hotel rooms in Crowne Plaza in Sawgrass Mills are still available as is the Hilton Miami Airport for $699 a night. The Herald also reported, interestingly enough, that of 51 hotels they surveyed only 18 hotels were entirely sold out.

. Sports travel brokers said they would have expected more sellouts a week before Super Bowl. The vacancies could make it hard for hotels to reap the kind of sky-high profits many expected for the weekend.

But don't expect their prices to come down any bit. The NFL's Super Bowl XLI site is offering a four-night minimum stay at the DoubleTree Hotel on Bayshore Drive for $399 a night (king bed). Also available is a suite for four people at $750 a night and a double bed room for $429 a night. Or if you wanna get some SPG points out of your trip, the Sheraton Bal Harbour has a double bed room for $419 a night. If you're splitting amongst friends, these rates are actually very reasonable.

Catalina Hotel's Big Game Super Bowl Party

Go To The Hotel's Web

January 29, 2007 at 4:15 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms or a kick-ass party for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

As we mentioned last week, the Catalina Hotel is throwing a Super Bowl party and the good news is you don't need to plunk down $950 for a hotel room for four nights to attend.

Geared for bowlgoers who either couldn't get a ticket or didn't try, the hotel's Big Game Party is modeled after the old parking lot tailgates but instead of fat guys in football jerseys and barbeques, you will find models and lounge seating with the game playing on the hi-def flat screens and projected on the walls. Food from the hotel's Maxine Restaurant will be served all night long and the beer will be flowing.

But the best news about this party is that it's open to the public and there's no cover to get in.

Super Bowl Hotel Rooms Still Available At Rodeway Inn

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 1506 Collins Avenue [map], Miami Beach, FL, United States, 33139
January 29, 2007 at 9:25 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

We continue to bring you our tips on hotel accommodations in South Beach this week as well as where to go for the best hotel Super Bowl parties.

Starting with rooms, a tipster let us know that the Rodeway Inn on 15th and Collins Avenue still had hotel rooms open for this weekend. Now, with a name like Rodeway Inn (it used to be The Rabrinni) we got a little frightened when we searched for reviews on TripAdvisor. But surprisingly, the comments aren't what we feared they would be.

When we got there it looked a little shabby from the outside. But, when we got in the room we were pleasantly surprised. They were a little old, but overall it was clean and spacious, large walk-in closets and kitchen. The diner downstairs stays open 24hrs. so you can get a meal or drinks without having to leave the hotel. The suites have beautiful city views and are huge! Bring your own radio or alarm clock if you're not in the suites and dishes. This is perfect for those who want to spend most of their time out on the town and still have a nice place to crash.

Also, good for people who don't mind tile floors in the guestrooms instead of carpeted ones.

Indeed there are two rooms with two queen beds available from Friday to Monday for $400 a night (Regular in-season rates start at about $150). So if you have three friends that's $100 a night per person, not too shabby. And it beats staying in Ft. Lauderdale.

(Thanks Takeit2DaHouse!)

Super Bowl Hotel Rooms Round-Up

January 26, 2007 at 9:39 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms for Super Bowl weekend in Miami?  Tip us off.

If you have to be in Miami for the Super Bowl, there are still hotel rooms available, especially just outside of Miami. The best way to book is to call the hotels directly. The further outside Miami, like Ft. Lauderdale and even West Palm Beach (63 miles from stadium), the better the chances are of finding rooms. But just remember--and we've been telling you this all week--you're gonna have to pay insane prices.

The NY Post travel blog mentions a few options like the $950-a-night, 4-night minimum Catalina Hotel in South Beach who will throw in free access to their Super Bowl party. Otherwise, be prepared to fork over $400 a night for crappy airport hotels.

Obviously, with people paying unheard of prices for rooms, Miami is expecting to do record business during this Super Bowl. The Deauville Beach Resort however was not one to miss out on this profitable weekend and pulled a Hollywood Roosevelt, canceling rooms booked by wedding guests who were only paying $139 a night.

Meanwhile, Chicago fans who can't make it to Miami will no doubt see the Super Bowl spirit in their hometown. The Four Seasons Chicago has dressed up the bronze statue out in front in a  Rex Grossman jersey and are serving "Rex On The Beach," a "Good As Gould" margarita and a "Ras-BEAR-y" martini at the hotel bar.

In Indianapolis, the Omni hotel there is promising that if the Colts win then the Omni hotel in Chicago will pay for their rooms on Sunday night and vice versa.

Fans can book rooms for the night of Feb. 4, asking for the "Chicago Pays" package in Indianapolis.
When they check in, their credit cards will be run for $141 (in honor of Super Bowl XLI, or 41). If the Colts win, Indianapolis guests' lodging bills will be zeroed out the next morning when they check out, paid for by the Chicago hotel.

For those of you who still want to do something special Super Bowl weekend without the hassle of Miami, we suggest Las Vegas and the Top Five casino hotel sports books. On Hotels.com, rooms at New York New York are going at $200 a piece and $250 for the MGM Grand. Just get to the sports book early--heck, maybe even get drunk there on Saturday night and camp out in a chair through the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Hotel Rooms Still Available Near Miami Airport

January 24, 2007 at 9:44 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms for Super Bowl weekend in Miami? Tip us off.

A helpful reader passed along to us the Super Bowl Hotels and Motel Rooms site which is listing quite a few options for lodging in the Miami area.

Up first is the Homewood Suites By Hilton Miami Airport/Blue Lagoon where rooms are going for $290 a night from 2/2 to 2/5. There's at least nine rooms and the hotel is about 19 miles from the stadium.

Another airport hotel, the Red Roof Inn, also has a bunch of rooms open for the same dates at about $220 a night. Just keep in mind that this is not a luxury hotel.

The rest of the site gets a little screwy with text overlapping more text but you get the idea--lots of airport hotels are still open and at prices you would not normally pay for an airport hotel. ($220 a night was the lowest.) The site also lists some rental car options that are still available. Call 1-800-922-5024 to book.

Super Bowl Hotel Rooms for $90 a Night

Go To The Hotel's Web

Know somewhere with open hotel rooms for Super Bowl weekend in Miami? Tip us off.

We got a tip yesterday after we posted our early report on the Super Bowl hotel rooms in Miami about an extremely affordable hotel offering rooms for $90 a night.

The Miami Sun Hotel located on NE 1st Avenue is near the American Airlines arena which isn't South Beach but it's close. The web site has hardly any pictures of the hotel or the rooms so we're not sure what this place is really like.

We also couldn't find any reviews or listing of this place on TripAdvisor but we did see some reviews on Travelpost:

The hotel was in the middle of downtown Miami and it was close to the buildings that I needed to do business in. America Airlines Arena was only 2 blocks away, so I caught a Heat game while I was there without having to fight traffic. The place isn't the Hyatt, but it was clean and at 50 bucks a night, I really can't complain. Overall, not bad.

Another reviewer said that the place was good if you needed to be near the arena and didn't need to stay a long time. On Yahoo the reviews were a little more mixed ranging from "good friendly staff" to "filthy".

Should you be desperate for a hotel room in Miami under $100 for Super Bowl weekend, you can take a chance on this place by calling 305-375-0786  for reservations.
