Sofitel LA: Ned Beatty Lives, Guests Treated Like Royalty

I stayed at the Sofitel in LA last week, went to the Stone Rose every night.  Best line of the night was when we saw Ned Beatty and I said, I thought you were dead.  He didn't find that too funny.

What?  Ok, we admit it, we headed to Wikipedia to figure out who the hell Ned Beatty was, er, is--Dan Conner's father on Roseanne that kind of rings a bell--but this dude possesses the type of career resume William H. Macy dreams of having someday.  Even his bit parts have bit parts.

While Stone Rose is enabling LA drunks to prematurely dance on Ed Conner's not yet dug grave, the new Sofitel guest rooms appear to be pleasing folks:

Our room was large and beautiful. Everything appeared new from the large flat screen television to the bedding. There is nothing in this hotel that I could complain about. We were treated like royalty.

Perez Hilton Does Socks and Sandals at Sofitel's Stone Rose

EA celebrated the launch of The Godfather game for Xbox 360 with a party at Stone Rose lounge inside Sofitel Los Angeles.

A spy reports to us that of course, the place was full of celebs:

Amongst the celeb sightings was everyone’s favorite Hollywood assistant Lloyd from entourage (Rex Lee), Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Matt Dallas (Kyle XY), Shannon Elizabeth’s ex-husband and per usual, a handful of former reality stars. Our favorite self-proclaimed “Media Queen”, Perez Hilton was also in attendance which is not so notable since he is fixture at parties around LA (and every other International hot spot), what IS notable was the fact that Mr. Hilton was sporting socks with open toed sandals (Oh Mon Dieu - Faux Pas!!!).

Good lord! Socks and sandals? Is Kevin Federline actually starting a trend?

Meanwhile, Jason from Laguna Beach also made an appearance but may have been too drugged out to realize where he was.

Reading Material at the Sofitel's Stone Rose

As we promised yesterday, we have some pictures of the Stone Rose at the new Sofitel in Los Angeles.

While we wouldn't call our pictures exclusive, they sure beat what the hotel has on their website which is basically old pictures of the hotel pool, its restaurant entrees and a rendering of the lobby.

This is a shot of one of the many books tucked away in mirrored cubby holes that line the walls of the lounge entrance. We guess Rande Gerber wanted you to educate yourself as you waited for your drinks or for a table at Simon.

Though it's probably all for naught as nobody actually reads anything in Los Angeles. They just wait for the movie.

Rande Gerber Opens Up Stone Rose at Sofitel LA

Rande Gerber is on a hotel-club opening roll. Fresh off the opening of Cherry at the Red Rock Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, he has opened Stone Rose, the West Coast version, in the newly renovated Sofitel Los Angeles.

A HotelChatter spy was in attendance and had this to report about the hotel's re-opening party:

The Sofitel Los Angeles had its grand opening on Wednesday with lots of celebs. I saw Cindy Crawford, Vin Diesel, Kevin Spacey and Dane Cook at the party to name a drop a few. Rande Gerber opened a new bar there called Stone Rose and there is a new restaurant called Simon LA.

The food was very quirky. For dessert they had rice krispy treats and cupcakes and the best brownies I have ever eaten in my life. The outdoor cabanas next to the restaurant and bar are really big and there were waterfalls and a firepit.

I defintely think anyone going to LA should check this out. Plus, I hear the rooms are awesome, with big flatscreens and those great rainfall showers. They have some kind of glass windows that can go from clear to opaque in the guestrooms. They are separate the bathroom from the bedroom so, you can watch your boyfriend take a shower while you're in bed. Hot!

Hot indeed. Good to see that the Sofitel has hopped on the voyeuristic bathroom trend. Now, we're just curious: was Cindy grinding with Jim Belushi again?
