Next week is the glorious, magical week: W South Beach is opening. On this, the almost-eve of the property's birth, we felt it was appropriate to take a look back at our favorite and least favorite moments of the dramatic saga that has led up to those doors opening.

Florida Residents Get 20% Off Rooms at W South Beach

So, as we continue to stalk the W South Beach this week (leading up to the hotel's still-supposedly-happenin' July 2nd opening date), we're going to go ahead and ask if anyone down in Florida is up for goin' and checking it out for us since we can't make it down there ourselves — cause they get 20% off the best available rate at the hotel. Just saying.

We were cruising the special offers section of the hotel's website where we found not only a package that involves a bar crawl through the hotel's various drinking establishments (it's called the "Heat of Haute" package, should you be interested), but also a Florida Resident Rate that knocks 20% off your room's price.

We managed to snag a room for 265.68 (well, that is, if we would be able to present a valid state ID at check-in) and the promo runs for rezzies booked by December 31, 2009 for stays through June 30, 2010.

Not Only is W SoBe Opening July 2nd, But It's Reportedly Sold Out

Whoa. Excuse us for being cynics. We have just gotten word that not only is the W South Beach actually going to open on July 2nd as promised — but it's sold out.

Seriously. We reported early this morning that trying to make rezzies on the hotel's website yielded an error message — the same error message we got on two occasions prior, after which we received word of delays — and so we assumed another delay was a-comin'.

Not so! We contacted an employee of the hotel who assured us that we couldn't book any rooms that night 'cause the place is totally full. Nice. Good to hear.

We're sorry for doubting you, W SoBe. But we're not sorry for stalking you. Yeah, we're gonna keep that up all week.

Seriously? Can W South Beach Be Delayed Again?

UPDATE: Sike. The W South Beach is totes opening on time.

It's 9:00 am. Do you know where the W South Beach is?

Cause we thought that surely it was on its way, due for arrival on July 2nd. But maybe not. Time to go a-stalkin' — all week long.

All looks well and good on the website at this moment — the latest July 2nd, 2009 opening date is still splashed across the top — but all of a sudden, even though we were able to make reservations for the night of the 2nd when we tried last week, the site turned up a rather worrisome error when we attempted to secure a room for July 2nd late last night:

WHOOPS! This location does not have availability for the dates you selected.

Aw hell no. Don't you "whoops" us again. We know what that shiz means — cause last time this happened (and also that other time), you announced yet another delay fairly soon afterward. Don't you pull this move again, W SoBe.
