The Chicago River Ain't The Only Place That's Green

The Venetian Hotel and Casino has dyed their canals green for St. Patrick's Day! The hotel has actually been on a bender celebrating St. Patrick's Day since March 12 but will continue the festivities through tomorrow.
Liam the Leprechaun is leading the parade today through the Green Canal where gondoliers will also make room in their song sets for some Irish faves like My Wild Irish Rose, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, and Up Among The Heather.
Just in case you happen to be inside the Venetian right now or heading over there before 6pm, if you spot Liam somewhere among the Grand Canal Shoppes you must say to him "Luck o’ the Irish." That's because if you do, he will reach into his "pot of gold" and hand over a prize. Said prize can be anything from gold chocolate coins to a free gondola ride on the (temporarily) green canal. Sorry, no instant jackpot winnings are found in the pot of gold.
However, if you do book a gondola ride between now and tomorrow (tickets are $16 per person), you can redeem your stub at the Mercato store for a bottle of Guinness. Sláinte!

Last-Minute St. Paddy's Day Hotel: The Iron Horse

Fresh off their celebration of Barbie's 50th birthday, The Iron Horse Hotel has gone from "Think Pink" to "Kiss Me, I'm Irish." The hotel's Branded bar is hosting a St. Patrick's Day party tomorrow featuring $3 Harps and Guinness beer, $6 "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" martinis and lots of Irish food like corned beef and cabbage and a mini-Guiness creme brulee.
Guests will also be searching for a pot of gold while at the hotel's party. Ok, not really gold but if you find the hidden shamrocks in your napkin you can win complimentary appetizers, free drinks, lottery tickets and even a one night's stay at the hotel.
At Branded bar, one lucky customer will peak inside their napkin to find a ‘pot of gold’—a lucky star which will nab them a free night’s stay in a Custom Deluxe guest room. Shamrocks will be hidden in napkins for a full day of fun prizes. From free Branded appetizers and drinks to lottery tickets, everyone is sure to better their chances of getting lucky this holiday.
The party is going on all day at the Iron Horse so if you're in Milwaukee, you can try your luck at this hotel. Room rates for tonight and tomorrow are currently at $179 a night for a custom deluxe king.

Lucky 17th Guest Will Get the Night Free on St. Patty's Day

Perhaps we should add The Muse New York Hotel to our list of Best Hotels for St. Patrick's Day. Aside from being in the heart of Times Square and close to the St. Patty’s Day Parade route (and a dozen gimmicky Irish pubs), the Muse Hotel is offering the 17th person to check in on March 17th a free night's hotel stay.
Of course, the catch is you have to book in advance. You can't just show up hoping to get a free room. It's not Z100 or anything here. But still, maybe the Luck of the Irish will be on your side.
The hotel is also offering its “You’re In Luck” package throughout March, which includes the fourth night free with a booking of three nights, complimentary continental breakfast, Guinness beer upon check-in, and a map of the best local Irish pubs. Room rates start at $279 per night, use code PLUC to book.

The Five Best Hotels For St. Patrick's Day

Knick, knack Paddy whack, find us a hotel room....
St. Patrick's Day falls on a Tuesday this year, meaning most folks are celebrating the Luck of the Irish the weekend before. But the die-hard green beer-drinkers (and of course, college kids) will remain true to the 17th.
This holiday is one where a hotel room is completely necessary. You don't want to pull a Mel Gibson on this night and while some of you might have alternative sleeping arrangements (Yes! We're talking to you serial bed-hoppers and couch-surfers) we're thinking that we'd like to end a night of Erin Go Braugh revelry and the unfortunate "Come On Eileen" sing-along on a nice fluffy bed with (hopefully) a toilet very, very, very nearby.
Here are our top picks for Hotels for St. Patrick's Day.
