Left-Handed Rooms are a Joke But $49 Rooms Are Not
We admit we got duped today by this April Fool's Joke from Shell Vacations Hospitality, claiming that they had created special left-handed accommodations for lefties with rooms starting at $49 a night. (That's what we get for taking forever to read through all our emails.)
But while there aren't any special teakettles or light switches for lefties, there are $49 rooms for everyone.
From now through May 31st, Shell is offering these low rates at their properties in Anaheim; Kona and Waikiki, Hawaii; San Antonio; San Diego; San Francisco; Scottsdale and Phoenix; and even Whistler, Canada. Go here to book. But you must do it before April 5. Certain blackout dates do apply and they vary from property to property so read the fine print carefully before you book.

This rainy East Coast day has us pining for sunny vacations. Turns out, for once, we might actually be able to afford it too. Now through Sept. 17th, you can book stays at Kona Coast Resort starting at just $57 (!). That’s a savings of 45 percent off stays up to five nights and 65 percent off stays five days or longer; valid through Dec. 18 (not counting Oct. 3-11 or Nov. 22-27). We’re impressed!

The deal is advertised for a stay from May 25-29, but you can get room rates as low as $167 for a mid-week stay throughout May.

Shell Hospitality Turns Hotel Deals Into Entertainment
Every hotel and its dog are getting blogs these days, but some are actually worth mentioning; we're mentioning the Shell Vacations Hot Deal Blog on their strength of their great puns because we do love a headline that gives us a good groan.
"Stop Whining and Start Wining" was Shell's recent effort for a Napa Valley promotion. Hey, we laughed. They get even cleverer--when they're promoting their Las Vegas accommodation they blog a movie script about burning buildings filled with puppies. You've got to admire a hotel chain that can turn weekly specials into something we actually enjoy reading.
Because in the end, the Shell blog is simply about special deals on some of their hotels, with a new deal usually coming out every Thursday at midnight, and the deals can only be booked online. Places like the Desert Rose Resort in Vegas and Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona are part of this group and savings can be up to 50% off. Or you can just read the blog for a few laughs, like we did.
