'Sex and the City' Takes Their Louboutins, Manolos and Pradas to Morocco
After "sleeping around" at several of New York's hotels for the filming of Sex and the City 2, Carrie Bradshaw and co. have moved on to Morocco. Cindy Adams reports that the cast and crew are filming at the Amajena Hotel in Marrakech.
The Amanjena is, as the name suggests, a part of Aman Resorts, a luxury hotel collection with truly exotic locations. And it's so exotic that there aren't even standard room accommodations here. Just "Pavilions and Mansions" which start at $1,050 a night (and that's before taxes.)
So we're guessing that this hotel might just be a filming location and not a place where the cast and crew are shacking up for a few weeks. After all, would SATC rather spend money on hotel rooms or the wardrobe for the gals? Sigh, it is a question we have to ask ourselves many, many, many times.
No word on how a trip to Marrakech fits into the storyline but we just hope that Charlotte doesn't have any, um, "difficulties" eating the local food here.

'Sex and The City' Gals Take Over Chuck Bass' Place, The Empire Hotel
As if Chuck Bass buying the place wasn't enough glitz and glamour for The Empire Hotel, the Sex and The City crew were filming in the hotel lobby (pictured above) all day Monday and a spy sent us some scoop on what was going on.
Someone saw a movie poster of Smith’s new film. It looks like an epic war film shot in the desert where he’s carrying a small boy to safety.
There were about 200 extras and Samantha was wearing a short, silver body hugging number with a cream wrap. SJP was in a floor length, black dress with a egg-shell colored wrap.
Ok, so it's not that much but it looks like Smith is in some big action movie and the gals attend the movie premiere party at the hotel. Also, we heard Chris Noth aka Mr. Big was on set too. And there is now word that Penelope Cruz will be in this scene as well.
We have to say these are all major improvements at the hotel from the Kardashians.

'Sex and The City' Filming Outside The Plaza Hotel Today
Yes, Sex and The City fervor has swept up New York City once again and much like the first SATC movie, we've learned hotels will play a part in the show. While The Bryant Park Hotel got love from the four ladies the last go-around, The Plaza, which re-opened in February 2008 after a lengthy renovations process, will make an appearance this time. And we're happy to say the legendary hotel's cameo will take us back to the Plaza's glory days.

The Signature's "Sex in Sin City" Spoils You and Your Lady Friends
We reckon the hotel market's nearly reached saturation point with Sex and the City packages, but this one at least distinguishes itself by not being in New York. Some might say this makes it kind of irrelevant to SATC, but we don't mind since they're call it the Sex in Sin City escape package.
This deal is being put on by the The Signature at MGM Grand and of course, it's a package designed for four girlfriends to take together.

Hotel Giraffe Appealing to Your Inner Diva and Cosmopolitan Poledancer
By now, we all know Manhattan hotels have been giddily banking on the popularity of the new Sex and the City movie, rolling out everything from SATC-themed packages (for Midwestern ladies looking to replicate the girls' lifestyles for a weekend) to "No Sex in the City" promos (for those of us who are sick of all the hype and, you know, our boyfriends).
But we think Hotel Giraffe has every reason to create a SATC-themed package: the hotel's penthouse was used as the set for Big's apartment in the movie (who knew?)

Bryant Park Hotel Offering a Different Kind of SATC Package
The Bryant Park Hotel, where several scenes for the Sex and the City movie were filmed, have begun to offer a SATC-themed package.
But this isn't just a cosmos-and-shoes type of deal. Nope. The BPH has partnered up with The Pleasure Chest, which already offers sex toys in the guestrooms at hotel, as we discovered last year.
Pleasure Chest was also the store that the gals visited in the first season of SATC and where subsequently Charlotte became addicted to her rabbit vibrator.
Now BPH and Pleasure Chest are offering gals their own legendary Rabbit vibrator based on the character of their choice.

Sex and Sin City :: Kim Cattrall Hosts the Palazzo Pool's Grand Opening
Kim Cattrall has made another go-round on the hotel party scene, this time at the Palazzo Las Vegas which kicked off the official opening of its pool deck on Tuesday.
The festivities were anchored by a VIP brunch and a Vegas Mode fashion show which flashed the latest summer looks from the top retailers in The Shoppes at The Palazzo.
Fashions from Diane von Furstenburg, Barneys New York, Ralph Lauren, and two Palazzo boutiques La Fortuna and Prosecco incorporated fashion "musts" for the summer season.
Additionally, two new restaurants at the Palazzo pool have opened--The Canyon Ranch SpaClub and Wolfgang Puck's second poolside restaurant Solaro.
Right now the hotel's offering a summer special of $159 a night which includes a 50 percent discount on a bottle of wine with entrée purchase at Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro, a 20 percent food discount at Woo Pan-Asian Cuisine, a complimentary mini-facial and makeover with any purchase at Fresh, a $25 gaming credit and the option to upgrade your suite.

SATC Packages: London vs. New York
Can someone please tell us why "Sex and the City: The Movie" premiered in London and not New York? Especially after the lengths New York hotels went to to promote the film with all sorts of packages for the Carrie and Co. wannabes?
To the best of our knowledge, London was only able to come up with one Sex and the City-themed package, at The Berkeley, which can be booked on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights through December.
For $807 per night (including VAT), the stay includes access to the complete box set of SATC DVDs, in-room cocktails and lots of goodies, like chocolate handbags, iced shoe cookies and cupcakes; plus, New York "beauty essentials" and a SATC book. Each guest also gets a Jimmy Choo handbag compact with invites to hang in the Sloane Street Jimmy Choo's VIP area.
Which is great and all, but can London give us a tour of filming locations on a double-decker bus? Or treat us to treats at Magnolia Bakery? We didn't think so. Which is why the decision to debut the movie in London over New York will forever confuse us more than SJP's choice of headwear at the premiere.

SATC Packages: The Muse's "Sex and the City" Suite Package
T-minus 32 days until the "Sex and the City" movie struts into a theater near you and Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte-themed hotel packages continue to in.
The Muse New York seems to have come up with the best one yet, as it doesn't involve boarding a double-decker tour bus or having to subject yourself to an annoying personal shopper.
The package includes accommodations in the hotel's newly renovated luxury suite, stocked with the same hair products used to create Carrie's occasionally wacky do's; breakfast in bed and in-room massages for two; a personal driver to chauffeur you to the show's haunts like Jimmy Choo and Magnolia Bakery; and a personalized gift, based on the SATC character you most resemble.
Self-professed Carries get a year's subscription to Vogue, Elle or Cosmo, while Charlottes get the book "How to Marry a Multi-Millionaire." Samanthas receive a bathroom filled with "Dirty Girl" bath products and Mirandas land Suze Orman's book, "Women & Money: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny."
All this, for $475 per person, based on double occupancy.

SATC Packages: The Algonquin's Girls and the City Getaway
The Sex and the City-themed hotel package blitz begins! Last week, it was Mandarin Oriental New York, pricing up a package for those of you with deep pockets like Mr. Big. This week, The Algonquin Hotel is offering a two-night Girls and the City getaway that's a little better suited to a writer's budget.
Like the Mandarin, The Algonquin has teamed up with On Location to offer guests its Sex and the City tour, which include stops at Carrie and Miranda's favorite bakery, Carrie's apartment stoop and at The Pleasure Chest, where Charlotte bought her infamous Rabbit vibrator.
The package, available through September, also includes tickets to see Broadway's "Legally Blonde," and an appointment with a personal shopper, all for $699 per person, or in SATC speak, about one pair of Manolos.
Some other hotels of importance on the Sex and the City circuit are:
· Bryant Park: Tons of filming for the movie went down here.
· Soho House: Samantha crashed the members-only club/hotel to use the pool during a heat wave.
· London NYC: The gals also filmed scenes for the movie at this new hotel.
· The Royalton Hotel: The wrap party for the movie was held here but SJP and co. ditched it early to drink at Elaine's.

SATC Packages: Mandarin Oriental New York's Carrie and Co. Getaway
With the Sex and the City movie on its way, we couldn't help but wonder: When will New York hotels start hopping on the hype bandwagon? Well, my friends, that day has arrived. One of the first SATC-centered packages we've seen comes to us from the Mandarin Oriental New York, located in the Time Warner Center--and at a price that could buy you at least five pairs of Manolos.
The package, available April 15 through the end of the year, includes a private SATC On Location Tour for up to five people, Sex and the City trivia game, two complimentary cocktails (inspired by the characters, natch), one $200 Henri Bendel Gift Card and a VIP gift bag from lingerie designer Cosabella, who just launched a collection inspired by Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. All this, for rates that start at just $2,000 for a night in a Hudson River View Room (pictured).
Hopefully, you have your own Mr. Big to pick up the tab at the end of your stay.

Party of Four: St. Lucia Girlfriend Getaway
With the "Sex and the City" movie right around the corner (it opens May 30), you might be reminiscing about all those Sunday nights in college when you and three of your girlfriends made cosmos, watched the show and the spent the remainder of the evening debating who was the real-life Carrie in your little clan. Lucky for you, you don't need to just reminisce, now that you're older and (hypothetically) can afford to live the glamorous lifestyle upheld by the show.
Gather up the BFFs for a getaway to The Landings St. Lucia, A RockResort, with the property's "Girls Rock" package. Available through December 19, it includes accommodations in a two-bedroom suite; a one-hour sailing lesson and unlimited sailboat rentals; private cooking class and wine tasting with the hotel's executive chef; a 50-minute massage treatment each day; an in-room make-your-own-drinks bar; and a CD from a local steel drum band.
The package requires a five-night minimum stay, with room rates starting at $257 per person, per night, based on quadruple occupancy. Although we're pretty sure Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha didn't share rooms that time they want to Atlantic City, but whatevs. Worth noting is that the hotel is currently in stage two of a four-stage development, which won't be complete until September 2010.
