T-minus 32 days until the "Sex and the City" movie struts into a theater near you and Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte-themed hotel packages continue to in.
The Muse New York seems to have come up with the best one yet, as it doesn't involve boarding a double-decker tour bus or having to subject yourself to an annoying personal shopper.
The package includes accommodations in the hotel's newly renovated luxury suite, stocked with the same hair products used to create Carrie's occasionally wacky do's; breakfast in bed and in-room massages for two; a personal driver to chauffeur you to the show's haunts like Jimmy Choo and Magnolia Bakery; and a personalized gift, based on the SATC character you most resemble.
Self-professed Carries get a year's subscription to Vogue, Elle or Cosmo, while Charlottes get the book "How to Marry a Multi-Millionaire." Samanthas receive a bathroom filled with "Dirty Girl" bath products and Mirandas land Suze Orman's book, "Women & Money: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny."
All this, for $475 per person, based on double occupancy.
The Sex and the City-themed hotel package blitz begins! Last week, it was Mandarin Oriental New York, pricing up a package for those of you with deep pockets like Mr. Big. This week, The Algonquin Hotel is offering a two-night Girls and the City getaway that's a little better suited to a writer's budget.
Like the Mandarin, The Algonquin has teamed up with On Location to offer guests its Sex and the City tour, which include stops at Carrie and Miranda's favorite bakery, Carrie's apartment stoop and at The Pleasure Chest, where Charlotte bought her infamous Rabbit vibrator.
The package, available through September, also includes tickets to see Broadway's "Legally Blonde," and an appointment with a personal shopper, all for $699 per person, or in SATC speak, about one pair of Manolos.
Some other hotels of importance on the Sex and the City circuit are:
· Bryant Park: Tons of filming for the movie went down here. · Soho House: Samantha crashed the members-only club/hotel to use the pool during a heat wave. · London NYC: The gals also filmed scenes for the movie at this new hotel. · The Royalton Hotel: The wrap party for the movie was held here but SJP and co. ditched it early to drink at Elaine's.
With the Sex and the City movie on its way, we couldn't help but wonder: When will New York hotels start hopping on the hype bandwagon? Well, my friends, that day has arrived.
