With LGBT Travel Out and Open, Hotels Turn Attention to Same-Sex Weddings
Feeling welcome and comfortable has been a work-in-progress over the past decade for LGBT travelers, and while some places certainly still have some work to do (cough Jamaica cough), we are finally living in a world where, for the most part, traveling as a same-sex couple no longer has to be an undercover operation.
And things are getting better on the homefront as well. The Federal Government has some catching up to do, but twelve states have now legalized same-sex marriage, and several others have at least allowed civil unions. With more gay couples deciding to get married and an increased comfort level in terms of "out" travel, this means big things for where the wedding and hotel industries meet—it means big things for same-sex destination weddings.

For a woman who's known for singing about butterflies and rainbows and daydreams, it's no surprise that for her fourth annual wedding vow renewal ceremony, Mariah Carey towed husband Nick Cannon all the way to Paris for a cutesy—and very public—display of affection at The Plaza Athenee.
Dressed in matching white outfits, the super-famous couple got down with some major PDA at the PAP.
The Daily Mail points out that while the actual ceremony took place on top of the Eiffel Tower, the couple invited photographers to the hotel afterwards so they could get a slice of the action. Jason and I are looking for a NYC hotel for just one night in Nov. I believe most of them require two and we'll do that if it's the case, but we want to go to a really nice one that's not $1,100 a night like the Pennisula, but something boutique-y and quaint.
