Montana Mountain Retreat Guarantees No Cabin Fever

It's hard not to blanch when we see a hotel package slapped with a price tag in the thousands, but reading the fine print does help to quell the sticker shock—at least a little bit. Even hotels known for their opulence are trying their best to go the bargain route, even if that bargain is set at $4,060, like the Mountain Romance getaway we found at Montana's Triple Creek Ranch.

Stick around and listen for a moment before you burrow your wallet away: that four-oh-my-god-are-you-kidding rate is for a five-night stay in one of their Luxury Cabins (normally $950/night, per couple), which are essentially mini-private homes with bells and whistles like a double steam shower, wood burning fireplace, living room, stocked bar, and a deck with hot tub.

The Cambridge Beaches Resort Wants You to Take a 'Sensual Journey'

We sure hope you can book this package online because we're not sure we could phone up the Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa in Bermuda and actually ask out loud for the Sensual Journey Package. This is definitely a decently romantic deal, but it does have that soft-core porn ring to it!

As part of your Sensual Journey, you get fresh flowers, a private butler service and a champagne breakfast (including side bowls of warmed honey and melted chocolate, and you can figure out for yourself what to do with them). Then there is a bunch of spa fun – an Experience Suite, where you get "some one on one time with your partner" (the mind boggles), then a therapist to instruct you in couple's massage, an 80-minute Pagoda treatment, and the Ocean Spa also provides your turndown gift. And you get a romantic picnic in the resort's secret garden, and a private candlelit dinner on the beach.

Vegas for Valentine's Day for Under $200

February 13, 2009 at 12:01 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Yes, we swore off V-day packages here on HotelChatter but we promise this story does not involve champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries and massage oil.

A friend of ours recently wanted to surprise his wife with a getaway to Las Vegas for Valentine's Day. We started to help him look for good deals but it turns out Vegas is actually pretty sold-out this Saturday. A cursory look at Expedia today does show some availability but at steep rates: Wynn is for $879; Venetian for $499 and the Stratosphere--which offers rooms for $25 during the week--is going for $279 a night.

So how can you do Vegas for V-day on the cheap? The Answer? Stay on Sunday night.

This Engagement Concierge Will Be The Romantic You Could Never Be

January 6, 2009 at 3:33 PM | by shiralevine | 1 Comment

Perpetually single gal, Jennifer Aniston, cast in post Brad Pitt years as the lonely and unlucky in love gal by media and her reps, might want to consider the Creative Engagement Services that Mexico's Marquis Los Cabos Resort offers the next time she's frolicking on the beach with on again-off again/"is it for show?" beau John Mayer.

Instead of waiting for Mayer to pen poetic lyrics and croon her a private song, Miss Aniston doesn't have to be traditional to get what she wants. She can spend some of those millions on her new bestie - an Engagement Concierge - who aims to "help hopeful fiances count the ways to propose." That's right. Hotels even want to take care of your marriage proposals now.

Ordering Up Some Love On The Avenue

“When men attempt bold gestures, generally it's considered romantic. When women do it, it's often considered desperate or psycho,” Le Carrie years ago said.

That Carrie Bradshaw quest to fall in love and have the story-book perfect romance play out in Central Park still exists within even the most romantically jaded of women. (Yes, Sex and the City is long over and passe, but this HotelChatterer finally saw the flick so please, bare with.) Manhattan's Upper West Side spot On the Ave Hotel takes the quintessential cheese factor and dolls it up for a romantic getaway for you and your Big by offering you the faboo services of the OTA Romance Concierge.

The Sweetest Spot in Carmel

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Junipero between 7th and 8th Avenue [map], Carmel, CA, United States, 93921
January 17, 2008 at 9:30 AM | by jennm | 0 Comments

[Correction: The hotel informs us that they do not allow pets. Also, the continental breakfast is served in the morning and wine and hors d’oeuvres are served in the afternoon. There is no dinner served.]

The Carriage House Inn, though not unique in its pet friendliness, stands out for being one of the only hotels in California to be awarded four diamonds by AAA for 30 years in a row.

Carriage House Inn offers 13 guest rooms and suites, most of which offer fireplaces, spa tubs and vaulted ceilings, making it a best bet for couples or honeymooners. Another perk of this hotel is that it lacks the overly floral décor and shared bathrooms common to many bed and breakfasts. Guests can choose to have breakfast and/or dinner delivered every day, and each evening, the inn offers complimentary wine and hor d'oevres.

Beaches, shopping and dining are all within walking distance of the Carriage House Inn, and the property is currently offering various specials to lure guests interested in these and other activities, such as the Romance Getaway Package and the Poppy Hills Golf Package, as well as off-season weekday promotional rates, available through April 30.

Rates start at $209 for a deluxe king room with vaulted ceiling and go up to $369 for a honeymoon king room with double whirlpool.

We don't mean rubbish lovers, of course. Or people who love budgets. We don't think much of either. We mean lovers on a budget.

Because why assume that all lovers are loaded? Ours never are. Seduction's easy when you're rich. Ask the guy in Pretty Woman. But try making love while you're counting your pennies.

So keep the romance and your dollars by staying at El Jardí, the best budget hotel for lovers in Barcelona for lovers.

Because if all you need is love....

Where to Stay in Oporto :: The Pestana Porto Hotel

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Praça da Ribeira 1, Oporto, Portugal, 4050-513

HotelChatter likes a good challenge. Here's the latest - find a good hotel in Oporto ('Porto' in Portuguese).

It's a fantastically lively, beautiful, cheap, cheerful city in the north of Portugal, but it's one of the poorest in Europe and the residents are only just waking up to modern tourism.

Most of the hotels there - residenciais or pensões - are the kind of cheap hostel-style crumbling old houses that went out of fashion when TVs were still black and white, with splintered wooden floors covered in what looks and feels like ripped 70s wallpaper, and bits of carpet stuffed into the holes in the wall.

But don't despair, there's a real gem of a hotel to be found in this city: the 4-star Pestana Porto Hotel. It's in an old, converted building, part of a cluster of 16th-century houses that make up a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Paris Hotel Guide: Hotels for Lovers

Where: Paris, France
September 28, 2007 at 1:37 PM | by femmefatale | 0 Comments

Our special Paris Hotel Guide correspondent Monica Guy has covered the city's popular hotels as well as its design hotel scene. So what's next? The best hotels for lovers of course. Here are her recommendations but this is strictly a hotel guide. She can't really tell you how to get a lover.

"How many people are making love around Paris right now?", wonders Amélie in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film of the same name. Immediately there's a disconcertingly erotic but mostly grotesque flash-series of love-making scenes around the city. It's a classic, and it's probably true. People make love a lot here. Well, that's my experience anyway.

A lot of the people who make love in Paris are what the French call flâneurs: men who 'stray the city at random in pursuit of sexual or alcoholic pleasure.' The species isn't unique to Paris, but he's a common animal here. Who said it's all fair in love and war? They've never made love to a French flâneur.

Entourage Hotel: E and Sloan's Napa Escape

Go To The Hotel's Web

Did you catch the hotel recommendation on last night's Entourage? E and Sloan are preparing to go away to Napa for a romantic weekend together, however, Vince is making every effort to figure out a way to turn a couples weekend into a foursome.

So where do Eric and Sloan book a four night stay? Auberge du Soleil, widely considered the best resort in Napa. This place isn't cheap--four nights will probably cost E well over $3,000, however, he has 5% of Aquaman scratch, so money isn't an object, right?

By the end of the show Sloan is bitter about something and virtually guarantees Eric that he will get no action at the Auberge.

Our advice to E? Get a good bottle of wine and try the couples massage in the Melissa Suite. Tipsters have told us that can break down even the tensest women.

Oh, wait, this is a fantasy show right? What gave it away?

Vietnam's Evason Hideaway is Romantically Cromulent

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Ninh Van bay, Nha Trang, Ninh Van bay, Vietnam, Ninh Hoa
March 21, 2007 at 5:07 PM | by markj | 2 Comments

Beach Villa or Hill Top Villa? That is your choice at Evason Hideaway Ana Mandara. Whatever your French villa preference this cromulent resort in Dalat has you covered.

You still have a chance to hit this place in April before the mercury jumps to possibly unbearable levels in Vietnam. Thing is, as the temperature rises the prices go down, so you may be able to score a deal if you can stand the heat.

Top notch service, plenty of snorkeling, a bit of windsurfing, a beach, which is cleaned daily, and a brand spankin' new spa-- pretty much all the upscale resort prerequisites.

Oh, and there are wild monkeys on the premises who are known to playfully shake the trees behind some of the villas, who knows maybe they even shake the villas themselves--just in case you and your significant other can't get the job done--this place has romance written all over it.

Insider Tip: If you are a hotel view-o-phile stay in on of the Hill Top Suites for a killer view.
