Inside a Deluxe Room at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore
Okay, so we've already raved about something as simple as the bedside tables at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, but what of the rest of the room? Well, first let us say that it is completely worth it to opt for the marina-side, because the view is half the luxury.
The Ritz-Carlton Millenia sits closest to the famous curving pedestrian bridge over to the Marina Bay Sands, and its location means crazy awesome vistas of downtown, the marina and more hotels one way, and the Singapore Flyer ferris wheel the other way. As lovely as the rooms are (and they are lovely), you'll likely spend at least half the time entranced by the metropolis, staring out the room's nearly floor-to-ceiling windows.
Speaking of, the windows include a massive octagonal portal found, in most rooms, above the bathtub. There'll be no missing out on the nighttime marina laser show if you'd like to have a soak.

Now THIS is a Hotel Bedside Table
Check it out. This is a bedside table found in the rooms of the Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore. Technically there are two, one for each side of the bed, and though easily overlooked they are some of the most well-designed pieces of functional hotel furniture we've ever seen.
Tomorrow we'll take you further into a Deluxe room at the hotel, but for now, let's geek out over furniture design. Here's why we love this table:
· Control panelfor both the room lights and the shadesstashed in table, camo as a middle drawer.
· Drawer closest to bed has single universal outlet with plenty of room around it for Apple Magsafe adapters and cord storage.
· Double level means you're able to take all the hotel stuff (notepad, breakfast menu, alarm clock, phone) and put it underneath glass panel, meaning total space for putting your own things (laptop, magazines, Moleskine, guidebooks, water bottle) and have it all fit.
· Glass top means no worrying about cup rings and using coasters on wood
· Contemporary design with the light beaming through glass panel edges makes it look super cool

Pack Your Trainers and Don't Forget to Grab the Hotel Jogging Map
It's official; hotels have finally figured out that maybejust maybeguests will want to venture beyond the fitness center and into the wild streets of a strange city in order to get that runner's high. Thus, increasingly we're opening up hotel desk drawers to spy more than just the requisite stationery and Gideon's Bible; there's also little jogging maps of the area.
Granted, you've got to be staying in a hotel that goes above and beyond in other ways than just a jogging map; you won't find extras like this in a Holiday Inn or Best Western. For example, we recently spotted a jogging map lanyard in the rooms at the Shangri-La Singapore, and a jogging map wristband at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore.

High in the Sky, You'll Be Looking Fly at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong
We've already told you about the glorious bathrooms in the specialty suites at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, the tallest hotel in the world. But down in the other guestrooms, the amenities are just as nice.
For instance, there are Asprey Purple Rain toiletries lining the bathtub and under the sink vanity is a dedicated toiletry drawer which features golden boxes of dental kits (2), a shaving kit, a hairbrush, an emery board, cotton pads, Q-tips, shower cap and mouthwash.

The Bathroom at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Will Leave You with an Extra Clean Feeling
Don't ask us how but last night we ended up inside a suite at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, the tallest hotel building in the world, and when we went to check out the loo, we squealed with excitement as we instantly knew we found an excellent Bathroom Tuesdays story.
The commode inside this specialty suite on the 116th floor has its own hand-held shower right next to the toilet, complete with a drain and everything. So, in a sense, it's a hand-held bidet.
But that's not the only luxury item in the bathroom. There's also a giant soaking tub with its own 26" flatscreen TV, Aqua di Parma toiletries and a massive walk-in closet. Oh and we can't forget about the views. We snapped a pic of the tub when the gilded doors behind it were closed but if you want to soak and stare, just push the doors back and voila! The whole of Victoria Harbour is in front of you.

It's Good to Be an Executive...Suite at The Ritz-Carlton at LA Live
We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
Occupy Wall Street might be against executives but when it comes to killer views, we have nothing against them. Executive suites, that is.
Today's killer view can be found from the sweet suite at the Ritz-Carlton at LA Live. Up on the 23rd floor is this Executive Suite which, aside from killer views of the Staples Center and downtown Los Angeles below, features a dining area for six, a wet bar, a powder room, two 42" HDTVs (one in the living room, one in the bedroom), a large master bedroom with a separate dressing area complete with a wall of closets and vanity table and one ginormous master bathroom with a walk in shower and separate tub, dual sinks with marble vanities, built-in mirror TVs and Bulgari toiletries.

The Ritz-Carlton Dubai Now Has a Hookah Sommelier on Staff

If you've ever wanted to smoke a hookah but were afraid of looking like a novice, the Ritz-Carlton Dubai International Finance Centre now has an expert on hand to ensure that every puff you take is perfect.
The Shisha Sommelier is a part of the hotel's Shisha Terrace. Shisha, also called hookah, is just smoking tobacco in a glass-based waterpipe but the Shisha sommelier is there to help guests choose the shisha flavor that will compliment their food and beverage or simply, their preference of tobacco flavor.
So who is this man tasked with such a cool hotel job? Sadek Zeineddine, a Lebanese national, who has worked in a food and beverage capacity in several different areas of the Middle East like Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. Most recently, he was at another Ritz-Carlton hotel, the Sharq Village and Spa, before joining the Ritz Carlton Dubai on the pre-opening team.

Ritz-Carlton Denver Now Offering a Beer Massage (Yes, It's Exactly What It Sounds Like)
Oktoberfest may be officially over according to the Germans, but there's still a way for you to soak in your love of beer, literally, at the Ritz-Carlton Denver thanks to their Mile High Malt Scrub and Microbrew Massage offered at the hotel's spa.
Here's how it works--arrive at the spa to check-in and instead of cucumber water, you'll get a chilled brew from a neighboring brewery put in your hands. Once that starts to kick in, you can begin your exfoliating Vichy shower experience. First, a barkeep, er, "treatment therapy provider", will mix a light rice Ale beer into the brewery's own malt. Then a full-body exfoliation is done on you using a malt scrub, followed by a body mask of dark rich Stout which apparently gives you a silky soft skin.

Ritz-Carlton Ads Are Now Using Reverse Psychology

Once upon a time, an international hotel brand become so self-assured that it started an ad campaign telling people it could "move heaven and earth, then move it back" as well as "stop time for a day." Well, heaven would be nice, and we would sure love an extra-extra-long weekend, but maybe we could just start with a free breakfast?
Ritz-Carlton is going for the road-less-traveled approach with its new "Let Us Stay With You" ad campaign. The slogan, which at first sounds like they are asking to spend the night at your house, actually refers to the brand's commitment to making each guest's experience as memorable as possible.
From tailored suits to fireworks to baby turtles to champagne to something called senbazuru (a type of origami)—Ritz-Carlton has suddenly become like the upscale department store of the hotel world. Whatever you want, they'll provide. And even if you didn't necessarily think you wanted it, they'll go ahead and provide it anyway.

This is One BLT We Don't Want to Bite Into

When we sampled Chef Laurent Tourondel's BLT Marketinside The Ritz-Carlton Central Park back in early 2009 we loved the friendly, snoot-free vibe, even if the menu prices were a little too ritzy for our budgets. But fast-forward two and a half years and now we're not sure we'd ever eat there again.
That's because the restaurant received a C grade by the NYC health department for violations including mold in the ice, a fly infestation and food stored at unsafe temperature, according to the NY Post, who also outed two other fancy hotel eateries back in June.

How to Improve On the Tanning Butler? Just Add Booze

You've heard all about the world's only Tanning Butler at Ritz-Carlton South Beach. We didn't think life could get much better than having such a service at our disposal. But then came word that the hotel was upgrading its poolside service. Three words: Mixologist on Wheels.
That's right, the hotel now has a roaming bartender who does the rounds of the pool deck twice a day Fridays through Sundays. Watch out for master mixologist Ramsey Pimentel at noon and 3 p.m. when he'll mix and muddle and shake and pour you your cocktail of choice.
Capirinhas are one of Pimentel's specialties and he even creates his own syrups, including a cleansing ginger and a Bird Thai Chili, to use in his concoctions. His latest creation? The "Hot Mate cocktail", a cold-on-the-bottom, fire-on-top beverage inspired by the South American tea-like drink, mate.
