Right in time for the Oscars, Hollywood Roosevelt just opened its newest restaurant, Public Kitchen and Bar. The lobby restaurant, which replaces Dakota, will be the perfect setting for an Oscars dinner, since the hotel hosted the first awards ceremony.
Then there's the contemporary American fare from Executive Chef Tim Goodell, the man behind the hotel's upscale burger joint 25 Degrees. The under-$30-a-dish menu includes chicken liver terrine with kumquat marmalade and grilled rustic bread; chicharrones with chilis and lime; gnudi with brown butter, chanterelles and bacon; and crispy oxtail galette.

While we’ve been getting all breathless over the dishy W London, turns out the
cougar matriarch of the European Ws, the W Istanbul has been quietly going under the knife. And now, just in time to steal London’s sassy new kid thunder, it’s peeling back the bandages to reveal its new look.
The hotel has opened two new restaurants, Frederic’s and Minyon. Frederic’s is an upscale Italian joint overlooking the Bosphorus with a 350-strong wine cellar, hearty ingredients (truffles, saffron, oysters), a revolving gallery of art that changes monthly and a cigar menu.
But the one we’re really excited about is Minyon, which is serving up international cuisine on small plates, to a backdrop art from young local artists, DJs, and a regular Wednesday night bash called Indie-Pendent Ladies (we likey). We can’t make the English tab on the website work, and sadly we don’t speak Turkish, but the pictures need no translation – stuffed avocado, salads, and a yum-looking crème brulee that we probably wouldn’t share. Also, any restaurant that describes itself as "titillating" gets a thumbs up from us.

Today Soho's James Hotel finally gets a restaurant, a little over five months since opening on Grand Street. It's David Burke Kitchen, a 95-seat basement space that compliments the rooftop bar, Jimmy. The menu, embedded below, presents "wholesome and hearty modern American food," including Burke's signature potted meats and vegetables as well as Soho rarities like bison tartare and Vermont rabbit.
Let the artifice continue! The InterContinental Dubai Festival City will soon be home to an outpost of Midtown Manhattan's Brooklyn Diner. The spot in inside the emirate's Festival City complex, which is also home to a Crowne Plaza, and the forthcoming the W Dubai Festival City (slated for 2013) as well as a 12-screen cinema, an Ikea, 400 shops, 90 other restaurants and a bowling alley.
The "finer diner," which in New York features enough Brooklyn food cliches to feed a whole borough, opens February 15 and will look identical to the US outpost with pictures of Brooklyn on the walls, neon signs and the maitre d' rocking the tux and sneakers combo.
It will make some nods to local tastes according to Insatiable Critic:
