A holiday weekend in Vegas? It's surprisingly cheap, particularly because Vegas hotels are still, generally, dying for visitors. As always, it's to the booking engine we go.
For Saturday night, we found the Bellagio up for grabs at $243, the Venetian at $259 and the Wynn at $253. Two City Center hotels are even cheaper, with Aria at $189, and the Mandarin Oriental at $225. Somehow, Vdara is asking $249, which we wouldn't call a deal. The Cosmopolitan, we're sorry to say, is sold out for Saturday.
The deals are better on Sunday night, which is normal for Vegas—but a bit surprising for a weekend leading into a Monday that lots of folks have off work. All the above hotels save the Mandarin Oriental are cheaper, and others have availability, like Paris Las Vegas at just $97 and the Cosmo at $143.
Forgive us for being obvious, but with balmy temperatures on the radar this weekend, Washington, D.C. has suddenly become a worthy February vacation spot—and hotel rates are great near the White House.
As usual, we checked rates on our custom hotel search tool. Best of the bunch, close to Chez Obama? The W Washington, D.C. from just $219 on Saturday night. Next door, the Willard Intercontinental is at $239. And the famed Hay Adams Hotel, where the Obamas stayed right before Inauguration Day, is at just $279.
The presidential connection runs deep in Philly, even if its most famous native son, Ben Franklin, never did run the country. On Independence Mall, the President's House is a newly opened joint National Park Service-City of Philadelphia project on the site of a home occupied by both George Washington and John Adams while the city was the nation's capital.

With everyone saving their party game for March 8—Mardi Gras—there are plenty of well-priced hotels in New Orleans for this long weekend. And it being New Orleans, visitors won't exactly be given short shrift on drinking and carousing just because the official holiday is still a couple weeks away.
And so to the booking engine we go! The bad news is that the French Quarter hotels are, for the most part, sold out for Saturday night. But many Canal Street properties, which are on the edge of the Quarter anyway, have rooms for the night like the Holiday Inn French Quarter ($200) and the Marriott ($219). The InterContinental is at $195 for Saturday night; the Westin Canal Place is at $269. But the deal of the bunch is the Best Western Saint Christopher at just $109 for Saturday.
