Ugh. Can you imagine being a guest at the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel last night and having to deal with a bunch of police officers skulking around the place in the wee hours of the morning because Perez Hilton sent out a dramatic plea for help over Twitter?

Okay, let's back up. Allegedly, here's what went down in Toronto last night: celeblogger Perez Hilton was in Toronto to present at the MuchMusic Awards on Sunday night, and he had attended an afterparty at a TO nightclub. At some point over the course of the evening, something happened to result in Perez bleeding and so he blamed Black Eyed Peas' will.I.am and his security guards, accusing them of beating him up.

And how did he choose to announce and deal with this incident? He Twittered about it:

· I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please.

· I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.

· Still waiting for the police. The bleeding has stopped. I need to document this. Please, can the police come to the SoHo Met Hotel.

A little bit later, he tweeted, "the Toronto police are here now. Thank you. Please stop calling them." Were people really calling them on his behalf? Really? Guh.

Well, we're not sure what the deal is here, but we do know that the SoHo Metropolitan will forever be remembered as the hotel from which an injured Perez tweeted for help. Iconic.

Perez Hilton Reflects on His "A-List Status" at the Gansevoort

Apparently celebrities are smarter that we suspected. Anyone with any weather-related intelligence got the freezing cold out of New York heading south or west. For once, New York was quiet, but that meant a lone blogger called Perez and his party at the Hotel Gansevoort could emerge from the bone chilling cold as an A-list star within the hottest spot of the night-- with Madonna apparently on-hand to vouch for his coolness. (She wasn't there unfortunately, so we'll have to take P-Nasty's word.)

While Chloe Sevigny and T.I. kept things sizzling at Miami's Gansevoort South, the slimmed down Perez was the celeb of the mo at Gansevoort New York. The adorable former lover of E on Entourage, Emmanuelle Chriqui, was there too, but somehow Perez stole all the thunder.

Does Criss Angel's Cirque du Soleil Show at the Luxor Really Suck That Much?

September 30, 2008 at 4:54 PM | by Jenna | 10 Comments

When hotels open, they've got kinks. We're usually willing to forgive those little issues that are clearly a product of the just-opened jitters -- lack of training, new facilities, green staff, the whole bit. And as we've always thought of hospitality as a sort of performance art, we imagine that the opening of actual performances -- like Criss Angel's Cirque du Soleil show at the Luxor (we use the term "performance art" loosely) -- would be no different. The show has been getting some pretty bad buzz, but we were willing to cut it some slack since it was still technically called a "preview."

If you're lost: the show -- called "Believe" -- was originally set to debut on September 1st but was delayed until September 26. The show has been in "preview" mode since then, and will continue to be touted as a "preview" until October 28th.

And there has been a lot of buzz going around lately that's been saying the show is, well, crap. We ignored it until some commenters came into our house and told us about it in the comment thread of our last story.
