Where to Stay When Paul McCartney Plays in London on December 22

Are you one of the lucky people who bagged tickets to Paul McCartney at the O2 on December 22? We want to wrestle them from your hands are really pleased for you. So pleased that we’ll even help you out with where to stay.

But first, a little tutorial on how to get to and from O2.

If you’ve been to the O2, you’ll know it’s in the back end of beyond - otherwise known as North Greenwich. As such, there aren’t really any hotels on site (and if there were, you probably wouldn’t want to stay there – you want happy memories of Macca, after all). Do not fear though, because the place is linked up extremely well with the rest of London.

What’s crucial is that you don’t go by car. Yes, Macca probably will, but he’ll likely have a police escort or something. You, as a mortal, will find it trickier. We tried to drive to the O2 from central London once and it took two hours and a relationship-testing argument. We could have walked in that time.

Public transport links are excellent, though. The easiest, and most fun way, is to get a boat down the Thames with Thames Clippers. They run a special O2 Express service from Waterloo Pier, in front of the London Eye, to the QEII Pier at the O2, which they lay on for special events – like Macca. A return journey is bookable a month before the event, costs £12, and although it’s pricey, it’s very classy – everyone gets a seat, thanks to safety regs, and you can get champagne with your ticket for £7.50 more.

Paul McCartney to Christen the New Joint at Hard Rock

We reported earlier this week that The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino closed last weekend, going out with a Motley Crue (head)bang as it closed down for a major makeover. Part of the Hard Rock's extensive many-million dollar expansion, Joint will re-open with more space, better equipment and a new look.

And! Now we're finding out that Paul McCartney will headline the new venue's inaugural performance, scheduled for Sunday, April 19th. We're pretty sure that tapping the former Beatle to help christen the new space is a good call considering the universal appeal — come on, even the Jonas Brothers crowd likes the Beatles (or they at least know Beatles songs from Across the Universe.

Tickets for the first new The Joint show go on sale on at noon on Valentine's Day (tomorrow!) at the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office or you can call 1 (800) 745-3000. Um, howevs: we checked on rates and availability at the hotel that night, and according to the Hard Rock website, there are none available. None. So, uh, pick somewhere else to crash.

Heather Mills' Vegan Demands for Daughter

Divorce isn't easy and Heather Mills has been determined to make life a living hell for ex-hubby Beatle Paul McCartney.

The latest trick? Driving a five-star hotel in Morrocco mad with vegan demands for daughter Bea's diet, so says the UK's Daily Mirror.

McCartney booked a daddy-daughter vacation at the La Gazelle d'Or hotel and Mills obviously doesn't trust him to abide by Bea's strict vegan diet.

A source said: "Paul booked the break for some quality time with Bea. "Now he's found out that Heather has been driving the hotel staff mad, faxing both the head chef and manager instructions and recipe suggestions for Bea.

Apparently those instructions were eight pages long. And we thought Oprah was a hotel guest from hell. Then again, maybe Mills just had a look at this TripAdvisor review which said "Hotel Ok, Food Awful."
