Get Into Levi Strauss' Pants At Ace Hotel Palm Springs' Suite 501
Need an outfit to compliment your new Ace Hotel Palm Springs sneakers? Levi Strauss has partnered up with the desert property to transform one of the hotel's rooms into Suite 501, an environment that evokes the Levi's denim-filled lifestyle.
According to the LA Times, the result is a space with a lived-in, rustic look:
The room featured a denim upholstered headboard, Levi’s pillowcases and artwork from Levi’s most recent campaign, shot by Ryan McGinley. The Walt Whitman poem “Go Forth,” the focus of Levi's recent marketing campaign, is painted on a denim tapestry. The curated ephemera vibe matches the hotel's rustic chic campground aesthetic; canvas covered walls, salvaged furniture, Native America throws and portable record player in every suite.
The stay in the suite, in which case we hope you love Levi's, guests can request the Suite 501 at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs. We're going to guess that it's tagged with nightly standard suite prices, which run between $209 - $369. It's just too bad that it doesn't come with a closet full of Levi's clothing; we love not having to worry about dirty laundry.

Ellen and Portia to Marry at the Palm Springs Riviera?
Now that gay marriage has been legalized in California, Ellen Degeneres and longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi are planning to wed -- and likely in a major, major way.
Page Six reports:
An insider tells Page Six they plan to hold the nuptials at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs. "They didn't sign the contract yet, but they're working out final details and security," said the source.
"The hotel is doing $70 million in renovations that will be done in October. They said they wanted to have the ceremony in the tropical gardens by the pool and the reception in the grand ballroom. They will also close a significant portion of the hotel, so it looks big."
And they mean big: the function space in the hotel, upon its Fall 2008 reopening, is second only in size to the Palm Springs convention center and can accommodate events with guest lists up to 1,000.
We love us some Ellen, so we're happy to hear this thing will be huge and we certainly hope our invitations don't get lost in the mail.

Bad Rate:: No Good Cheap One Night Stand Rooms in the Desert
[Ed. Note: This is the Bad Rate in our Good Rate/Bad Rate feature. The rates listed here were valid on April 17, 2007 and is subject to change. Enjoy.]

We guess if you were headed to the desert for a relaxing weekend (or perhaps a last-ditch attempt at saving a failing celebrity relationship), forking out $345 a night for the Le Parker Meridien might be worth it. But if you want to do a quick shopping trip at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets, or if you're interested in a one night stand, there's really nowhere to stay for a night since most of the less expensive places request a two-night minimum.
One place that does not and that was available was the Hilton Palm Springs Resort at $235 which still seems steep for a one night stay at a Hilton and one reviewer says don't forget about the parking and resort fees.
And even if you do decide to book a higher-end resort like the Viceroy Palm Springs, just remember who you might be sharing the place with.
Great and fun place - particularly before the LA crowd arrives for weekend who tend to be a little too fabulous. (Overheard at pool on cell phone - "no no getting you 100 million will NOT be a problem")
