Got this picture at L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills around midnight on Oscar night.
Girl at the front desk told me they had tons of Oscar winners staying there and some simply dropped off their awards and went out to party.
I begged her to tell me who and just then Tilda Swinton showed up with her gold man in tow.
Hmm...we thought most Oscar nominees shacked up at the Four Seasons on Doheny. So we have to ask: if anyone working at the Four Seasons knows how many Oscar winners stayed there, give us a tally.
Now onto a much more important question. Was Tilda Swinton paryting with her old husband or her boytoy lover or both? Hmmm...looks like it was the boytoy.
We wonder what Los Angeles-area hotels would have done this past weekend if the Writers' Strike had forced the Oscars to be skipped. But thankfully for hotel owners, general managers, and sales/marketing teams, that didn't happen!
Celebs and their entourages as well as media, wannabes and paparazzi flooded the hotels once the award show let out. Let's just say, we would have hated to been on either Sunset or Wilshire Boulevards last night.
In case you need to know who was where, here's a handy list:
· Page Six runs down the Oscar gossip. The Four Seasons on Doheny had a viewing party attended by Paris Hilton's parents; Earlier in the day, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ate lunch there; EW held their annual NYC viewing party at the Carlyle; the Sunset Tower hosted a "Glamour Girls" party during Oscar Week; Josh Hartnett hit up Chateau Marmont; Also, Amy Winehouse trashed a hotel in the UK. [Page Six] · Harrison Ford and George Clooney hit up the Sunset Tower[TMZ] · Josh Brolin and Diane Lane cuddled at the Miramax party at Bar Marmont in the Chateau Marmont[People] · 300 journalists fill the ballroom at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel to question winners and nominees [EW] · The anticipated smackdown between Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston at the Beverly Hills Hotel sadly didn't happen. Note: Deals they be 'a changing. We scoped these out on Wednesdsay, February 20th and the prices listed here are subject to change.
There aren't many hotel deals to be found in Beverly Hills this weekend when the Oscars come to town but there are rooms available.
We checked our trusty rate finder and found five hotels in Beverly Hills that have rooms open. We checked for February 23-25 and most surprisingly the celeb-fave Peninsula Beverly Hills has rooms open for $625 a night. Maybe Britney Spears' pre-mental ward antics wreaked too much havoc on past guests. That or people are just balking at paying $600+ a night. Afterall, the industry is still recuperating from the writer's strike.
Also surprisingly, the Beverly Hilton, which has long been host to the Oscars, Golden Globes and Grammy parties, is open at $375 a night.
The rest of the options are pretty decent since they are all within a mile of Rodeo Drive. Just remember that the Best Western Beverly Pavilion Hotel has been reincarnated as the Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel.
Not a 90210 type of ho? Los Angeles proper has some decent rates like the Standard Hotel on Sunset for $283 a night. But then again you are staying at the Standard on Sunset.
Insider Tip:The Tower Hotel has rooms at $199 a night with a queen bed (king bed costs $229) and is about a mile south of Rodeo Drive. The hotel used to be a Loews and was recently renovated. It's also across the street from a Ralph's supermarket in case you want/need to save on grub.
We're still suspicious of hotel in Beverly Hills that would charge under $200 during Oscar weekend but if you are on a budget, you can try it out.
