Mentioning the Chateau Marmont earlier in the Heard Around the Hotel World story, prompted us to check in on the National Enquirer's column Hollywood After Dark which is almost always full of items of celebs at the legendary Lindsay Lohan residence.
In the name of research and research only, we have begun picking up the National Enquirer on a weekly basis. This is merely to serve you better and has nothing to do whatsoever with our perverted curiosity about Katie Holmes' latest role as a Scientology Stepford wife.
Anyways, last week was a total bust because there were only two items mentioning the CM. But the National Enquirer's paid source must have been on holiday because this week the column comes back to life with a whopping 7 of 10 items about celebrities at the CM.
Here is the full round-up. For those of you at home following along, please flip to page 14 of the January 29, 2007 issue. We have:
· Sienna Miller eating "looking absolutely beautiful" on Jan. 8. · Lindsay Lohan (pre-rehab of course) the same day cursing at the valet because it was taking too long. · Borat was there on Jan. 9 with fiancee Isla Fisher having dinner. Apparently Sacha Baron Cohen is way better-looking in real life. · Nicky Hilton leaving the ladies room and bumping into a waiter without apologizing. · Jennifer Connelly leaving the hotel's lobby with friends, looking "fantastic". · Molly Shannon was there too having drinks with a male friend, conversation was described as "serious." · Jan. 9 was a big day because M. Night Shyamalan was also there at dinner, looking "dark and mysterious."
In our brief analysis of the items here, most of which involve food and drink, we think the National Enquirer's paid source is either a waiter or a bartender who is either dating or is good friends with a valet staffer.
Then again, we wouldn't put it past the National Enquirer to store somebody in a vent above the dining room.

Andre Balazs, listen up: Either someone from the National Enquirer has camped out in the Chateau Marmont lobby somehow unnoticed or someone on your payroll is also the National Enquirer's payroll.
We noticed this back in October 2006, after spotting an unusually high amount of gossip items at the Chateau. And we see it again.
Over the holidays, we picked up the National Enquirer twice (what? The grocery store lines were loooong) and each time, their "Hollywood After Dark" column was full of celeb sightings at the Hollywood hotel. We're talking at least three mentions and with one week's issue comprising about 80 percent of the column.
But if you don't care about that and just want the celeb nitty-gritty, then here's the latest from their Jan. 15 issue:
· Jared Leto, Dec. 26: "followed by a group of giggling girls." · Mary-Kate Olsen, Dec. 27: sporting a bleach-blonde afro; · Kirsten Dunst, Dec. 27: "She was with a big party, drinking and babbling away. Poor girl, she looked like a train wreck."
So be careful, Lohan, the Enquirer is always watching.
Today we wonder if they have reporters hiding out at the Shore Club, a celeb hotspot, in Miami Beach. In a "Wacky but True" moment, hotel employees discovered a man in the air conditioning duct and police were called to pull him out.
Hotel employees at the Shore Club called police around 5:00am Tuesday when they found the unidentified man stuck, wearing only a bathing suit.
It took more than an hour for fire-rescue workers to cut through drywall and get to the man. Reports say he fell about 20 feet and got trapped on screws holding the ductwork in place.
Ouch that's gotta hurt. But we hope he got some good celeb scoop. That would make it all worth it, right?
The reason being is because we were flipping through this notorious tabloid over the weekend (it was mysteriously dropped off at our front door and was in no way an impulse buy at the 10 items or less express check-out line at the grocery store) and we noticed that in the "Hollywood After Dark" gossip column* of the six items, four of them took place at the Marmont.
We have: · Courtney Love repeatedly hugging a doorman on October 3. · Geoffrey Rush ("Pirates of the Caribbean") that same day drinking with strangers while Nicolette Sheridan was dining with two guys and a girl (no pizza shop though.) · Lucy Liu bumping into a waiter on Oct. 5 and almost knocking food off his tray · Harry Morton, Lindsay Lohan's ex, arriving late at night on Oct. 7 perhaps to visit Lindsay.
The other two items were something about a Madden twin from Good Charlotte and Nicky Hilton's bday at club Arena.
We sincerely doubt Andre Balazs or his people are behind any of these items, so perhaps its about time for them to investigate the hotel's nooks and crannies for Enquirer reporters. That or figure out which staffer has been showing up in some new duds, wearing a new watch and driving a new car.
