Mondrian New York Looks Ready But You Still Have to Wait

When we heard the other week that the Mondrian New York on Crosby Street in Soho would be delayed until 2011, we remained optimistic as the hotel's online rezzie system was allowing us to book rooms for February, which isn't that far off.

And judging from this photo a tipster sent us, taken yesterday, we know the building is ready. (We momentarily got spooked by the hole in the ground but according to our source, that is actually the planned "lush garden" for the hotel.)

So theoretically, this hotel is ready to open now (the garden can come later) but Morgans had stated that they needed "additional funding" to complete the job. They've got the money so we're hoping they are hard at work on the interior.

We just hope that when the time comes they don't get stonewalled trying to obtain a temporary certificate of occupancy which is what's happening right now with the Gansevoort Park. Until then, Godspeed Mondrian.
