Iron Horse Hotel Officially Number One in Milwaukee

Some not-so-surprising news outta Milwaukee today--The Iron Horse Hotel, a luxury boutique lodging for motorcyclists and business travelers alike has moved up the ranks of TripAdvisor to the number one slot.
We say "not-so-surprising" because the Iron Horse is really the first luxury boutique hotel to open in Milwaukee. Also probably not hurting them is the fact that it uniquely caters to hog enthusiasts and it's located right across the street from the Harley-Davidson museum. Some reviews:
· "This is the second time I ahve stayed at the Iron Horse and I will be back! They consistently deliver outstanding service - from the moment you pull into the valet are - until checkout."
· "Chris, the Beverage Manager, saved our Saturday night by recommending a restaurant and even making our reservations. Just like the Iron Horse, the food and atmosphere were amazing at the recommended spot."
· "Rooms are sizeable and comfortable. Beds are great. Nice sized TV with inputs for your computer/ipod/etc. Good bathroom with relaxing rainshower."
In fact, most of the reviews tend to be more like the first review--upbeat, perky and ecstatic. Then again, we'd be pretty pumped to stay in a place this nice in Milwaukee where you can roam about in your riding leathers without any dirty looks.

Hotel Opening Rates :: 'Rev It Up' at the Iron Horse Hotel
The Iron Horse Hotel -- the luxury boutique hotel for motorcycle enthusiasts in Milwaukee featuring awesome local lady art, sweet-ass decor and rates that are surprisingly reasonable -- was set for a September 15th opening last we checked.
We got word today that the hotel is offering special introductory "Rev It Up" opening rates (heh -- get it? Motorcycles? Revving up?) starting on October 1st, so we were a bit confused -- but we called the hotel and they happily confirmed that the official opening is still all set for September 15th.
Standard rooms are going for $179 a night, Premium Lofts are a steal at $199 per night, and the luxe Corner Alcove suites will only run you $219.
These rates are only good from October 1st til October 31st -- and we'd suggest you give the hotel a call directly instead of working with the online reservations system because it's still a bit wonky.

The online reservations system was acting a little fussy today yet we do know that the hotel room rates will start around $179 a night.
But if you're more interested in working there than staying overnight, a job fair is being held next week.

Iron Horse Hotel Artwork :: Milwaukee's Next Top Models?
HOTELS Mag's Adam Kirby recently scored a tour of the soon-to-open Harley-Davidson-themed Iron Horse Hotel and was totally blown away, saying, "as someone who's never so much as sat on a motorcycle, let alone ridden one: this is a hotel I can't wait to stay at."
What really stood out to him, though, was the local artwork featured inside the 102 guestrooms.
Photographer Charles Dwyer was commissioned to produce mixed-media murals to cover entire walls in each guest room. Out to challenge the classic "stereotypes" of Milwaukee women (what? They're different than L.A. girls?), he photographed all typed of Milwaukee ladies - not professional models - and printed the shots in sepia tone on archival canvas.
Each of the 102 guestrooms features a unique Milwaukee woman covering an entire wall, photographed in sexy (not trashy) poses.
These shots are more beautiful and tasteful than 98% of the America's Next Top Model photos - are you listening, Tyra?
One more photo after the jump.

The LA Times Goes Inside the Iron Horse Hotel
In April, we brought you a sneak peek of the Iron Horse Hotel, Milwaukee's "modern luxury boutique hotel" geared towards business travelers and motorcycle enthusiasts (it's a stone's throw from the Harley-Davidson Museum) slated to open September 1st.
We've seen the model pics of the old-furniture-factory-turned-hotel, but this week an LAT reporter went and got a tour of an almost-finished room. Despite the place being half done, she seemed to like what she saw.
She was particularly tickled about a 1907 sign from the Milwaukee Boiler Co which will grace the entrance to that sexy underground pool room (called The Boiler Room, natch).
She also assured us that the decor was tasteful and not packed full of black leather and Harley-themed stuff:
The hotel's motorcycling orientation is subtle. The entire subbasement is designed to house motorcycles, and the furniture in the lounge is leather, but overall the cycle theme, to a non-motorcyclist, is merely elegant.
Good. No tacky moustaches either, we hope.

The Iron Horse Hotel Launches Website

The Iron Horse Hotel, the new boutique hotel opening in Milwaukee that is set to please hog enthusiasts and business travelers alike, has now got its tricked-out hotel website up and running.
You can't make reservations just yet but you can peruse some of the guestroom photos and check-out the motorcycle amenities for the riders and their bikes.
The Iron Horse will also have a restaurant onsite called Smythe serving "something for everyone from farm-fresh lighter fare to hearty Regional American cuisine."
But what really has caught our eye is the Boiler Room which is set to open in the hotel in 2009.
The lower level of The Iron Horse Hotel that once housed the building's ancient boiler has been dramatically transformed into an unforgettable adults-only hot tub experience. Called The Boiler Room, this seductive lounge features an enormous hot tub that becomes a chilling pool in the summer. A tiled indoor deck with inviting lounge furniture offers the perfect gathering place to relax, unwind or spark up a conversation over cocktails.
Kinky!
The hotel is still set for a July opening and even though we are deathly afraid of motorcycles, we're actually very curious to see what this place is about. Especially that boiler room, heh heh.

A Sneak Peek at the Iron Horse Hotel Guest Rooms

We've told you about the Iron Horse Hotel before which will be the first "modern luxury boutique hotel" geared towards motorcycle enthusiasts, as well as other discerning business and leisure travelers. It will open this summer in Milwaukee just steps from the Harley-Davidson Museum.
Now we got the scoop on what the rooms will look like. Built inside a 100-year-old industrial era warehouse, The Iron Horse Hotel will have five different room categories spanning 102-rooms.

The Iron Horse Hotel is More Affordable Than We Thought

In profiling the upcoming Iron Horse Hotel, which is a business traveler/hog enthusiast's dream hotel, we mentioned that because of the modern luxury decor and amenities rooms would probably be priced at around $300.
However, a hotel rep emailed us to say that wasn't so. Rooms would actually range from $179 to $319. Yay! It's totally affordable. Now we just need a reason to visit Milwaukee. Any ideas?

A New Entry For Your Motorcycle Diary

Attention Hog Lovers. The upcoming Iron Horse Hotel will be one of the first ever "modern luxury" boutique hotel geared towards motorcycle enthusiasts.
Originally, an industrial warehouse the Iron Horse has been transformed into a 102-room hotel with a location in downtown Milwaukee right near the new Harley-Davidson Museum.
The rooms will have the ever-increasing standard hotel amenities such as complimentary WiFi, iPod docking stations, flat screen TVs and 24-hour room service.
But since the hotel is devoted to motorcycles, hog enthusiasts will appreciate the extra care for their babies such as:
Secured covered motorcycle parking, rag bins, an on-site bike wash, packed saddle bag lunches, road trip, maps and in-room storage areas for boots, helmets and heavy riding leathers.
The hotel also wants to attract other road warriors, business travelers, with upscale tastes as it notes its proximity to the Midwest Airlines Convention Center and with its list of business amenities such as wireless internet, meeting space, business center and fitness facilities (so you can stay in shape on the road we guess) which includes The Boiler Room, of hot tubs and chilling pools. Not a den of aggressive sales men.
The hotel is scheduled to open early summer 2008 and we're guessing room rates will be around $300, judging from the "modern luxury boutique" description. If you can't wait until then, check out the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in North Carolina. The place even has WiFi.
