The Hard Rock to Add Michael Jackson's Glove to Its Memorabilia Collection

The doors of the Hard Rock have guitar handles.

While the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas does have a lot of party-centric activities on site--drinking at Wasted Space, bumping n' grinding at Body English, doing both of those in the water at the Rehab Sunday pool party--the hotel is still true to its original concept and the amount of rock n' roll memorabilia on display is fantastic.

When we were there last month, just off to the reception desk were the sexy outfits used in music videos by Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry and Britney Spears. In fact, Hard Rock actually possesses the outfit Britney used in her "Hit Me Baby One More Time" video. Throughout the property you will also find outfits and property belonging to No Doubt, Bon Jovi, Elvis Presley, Madonna and Michael Jackson. And it looks like the Hard Rock will have some more MJ to show off pretty soon.

Cheap Hotels Are Hard to Find for Michael Jackson's Neverland Memorial

July 1, 2009 at 12:26 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Here at HotelChatter we have a very informal indicator of how popular an event is going to be: the price of the nearest Holiday Inn.

If the room rate for the Holiday Inns in the city where said event is taking place remain low, we're sorry to tell you, event promoters, but this gig is probably a bust. If the Holiday Inn's rates in the city where said event is taking place have skyrocketed to unreasonable prices that no one would ever fork over for a budget hotel, then you're in luck: your event is going to be a success! Too bad Michael Jackson isn't here to see just how massive his funeral is going to be.

The memorial is taking place at Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos, California, and the Santa Barbara area is prepping for a flood of one-glove wearing, Thriller album-holding, fedora-sporting fans. And all these "Billie Jean" lovers are going to need a place to stay.

We headed over to Expedia and checked the Holiday Inn Express Santa Barbara hotel for rates from Thursday through Sunday, and the 2.5-star property has rooms open for $222 a night. The Holiday Inn Santa Barbara-Goleta, a 3-star property near the UCSB campus, is down to $182 a night.

What To Do About Your Michael Jackson Concert Hotel Reservations

June 26, 2009 at 4:09 PM | by Jenna | 1 Comment

In case you've been living under a rock, have not touched the Internet, gone near a TV, newspaper or another human being, you have heard the incredibly sad news that Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, passed away yesterday.

As you know, he was set for a "This Is It" comeback run this summer, with tons of concerts scheduled in London at the O2 Arena. Hotels in the area were offering MJ-themed packages (and, even without the packages, lots of people were still booking hotel rooms around the concerts).

But now what?

Jetlagged Jacko Is Alienating London’s Hotels

So Michael Jackson left London yesterday after coming over for a week to announce his world tour. Seeing as that only took a mere three minutes, he had to find other things to do. Like seeing a West End version of Oliver!, and, um, getting drunk and going crazy, if the News of the World is to be believed.

It reports that staff at The Lanesborough, where he’d been holed up, thought he looked “off his face” (hur hur) in the early hours of last Wednesday, the day he had arrived in London. He was, apparently, lurching round the lobby, asking for DVDs to watch and had to be led back to his £7500-a-night suite by a security team.

Who Makes the World's Worst Hotel Guests?

August 13, 2008 at 10:17 AM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

To hotel staffers, what exactly does one have to do to achieve status as a "nightmare" hotel guest? Towel-stealing? Calling the front desk asking for amenity after amenity to be delivered to their rooms? Loud drunks?

Yeah, no. Try throwing plates of spaghetti at walls, biting hotel security guards, and ordering xylophones up to their suites.

Concierge.com put together a list of the worst famous hotel guests ever -- and, surprise, Amy Winehouse is on there!

A couple of the gems after the jump.

Michael Jackson Clothing Line to Debut, Fittingly, at Treasure Island

While Lauren Conrad is off designing high-end clothing lines and Perez Hilton is attempting to peddle his goofy outfits to Hot Topic shoppers (and failing spectacularly), Michael Jackson seems to understand that the only appropriate venue to sell his own clothing line would have to be, of course, Las Vegas.

Yes, you read that correctly: Wacko Jacko is venturing into the fashion world. MJ is opening his own Vegas clothing store set to open July 4th.

According to X17:

Ed Hardy founder Christian Audigier is partnering with pop icon Michael Jackson to launch a new clothing store in Vegas at the Treasure Island Hotel - taking over the Tangerine night club space.

The news of the line, which was "inspired by glitzy, glamorous Las Vegas shows," sort of made us happy on this otherwise blah Friday morning. We love the over-the-top costumes in campy Vegas shows and expect nothing less than a whole clothing collection made entirely of sequins, feathers and faux fur.

Wynn Hearts Jacko

According to reports, Michael Jackson will headline a new show at Wynn Las Vegas--if he is not found guilty of those pesky molestation charges.

Guess Wynn and Jacko have been tight for years. Wacko use to hang at the Mirage in the late eighties, Wynn was named as a potential Jackson character witness, but never took the stand, and they both love art.

We heard rumors that Le Rêve is a bonafide disaster, but hearing Jacko belt out "Smooth Criminal" just doesn't seem like the answer.  What is next?  Hiring OJ as head chef at Alex?

Now Michael Jackson pitted against his beloved German silver-backed gorilla, in a fight-to-the-death steel cage match, in the middle of Wynn Theatre--that we would pay big money to see.
