Six Hotel Deals for Memorial Day Weekend

May 7, 2013 at 3:37 PM | by | Comments (2)

Deals: you want 'em, and surprisingly, everyone has 'em. Take a look at some of the latest hotel deals going around the internet today from booking sites, social media sites, flash sale sites and more. Don't forget to scroll down to see the HotelChatter-approved deal either. Who knows? You might just find what you're looking for. (But don't forget to tell us about your stay!)

DEALS, DEALS, DEALS*

· NEW YORK: Rates in the city are, sadly, hovering around $300 a night for Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-27th.) So if you're going to pay that much don't stay at a boring chain hotel. Try the Nomad Hotel at Broadway and 28th where every room has a "vintage-furniture" feel. Need further convincing? Read the HotelChatter review complete with photos and video. Once you've made up your mind, go here to book. Rates start at $295 a night.

· THE HAMPTONS: Capri Southampton actually has rooms open for Memorial Day Weekend but you better snap them up quick. Rooms are going for $359 a night or a total of $1,277.58 including taxes and surcharges for a Friday-Monday fling. Go here to book.

· LOS ANGELES: The Sunset Tower Hotel, beloved by Jennifer Aniston and Vanity Fair, has rooms for just $199 a night over Memorial Day Weekend. Those rates are good for stays from May 25-27 and will get you a superior room with a queen bed. Need more sleeping space? Opt for a king at $249 a night. Go here to book.

· CHICAGO: We love theWit in Chicago because it has a killer rooftop (called ROOF) and with rates at just $165 a night over Memorial Day Weekend (advance purchase required), we love it even more. ROOF has also just unveiled a new permanent 20' x 12' 3D installation called "theWall" which is similar to the kinds of crazy sexy cool productions found at EDMs. Need another reason to stay at theWit for Memorial Day? Lil Jon will be hosting the first ROOF Sundays event on May 26. Go here to book your room.

· D.C.: We found the Hotel George, a Kimpton Hotel going for $161 a night on TripAdvisor's new booking site, Tingo.com. If you are't familiar with Tingo, then read our recent story here. Basically, this booking site will refund your money if the room rate drops before your stay. And according to a little pop-up note on the Hotel George listing, the price has dropped a whopping 121 times in seven days. So your odds look good. And if the rate doesn't drop, at least you can make good use of Kimpton's free wine hour.

Where: Brooklyn, NY
May 1, 2012 at 1:17 PM | by | Comment (1)

So, it's May 1, and you still haven't gotten around to booking that hotel room for your annual Memorial Day Weekend jaunt to NYC. And come to think of it, there sure are a lot of choices these days when it comes to a long weekend in the Big Apple. So here are a few suggestions for your cost-conscious travels...

Brooklyn's newest boutique gem, The Wythe, which opens today, has Memorial Day Weekend rates of $270/night, which is pretty much spot on to what we predicted a few weeks ago. What you'll get for your money: killer views of Manhattan, a trendy restaurant (Reynards), and an outdoor terrace.

But while we'd like to keep things simple and tell you it's generally cheaper to stay in Brooklyn during busy holiday weekends like these, that, sadly, is not the case.

Read on to see what other deals are floating around for the month of May!

This Summer, Head to Capri...in The Hamptons

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 281 County Road 39A [map], Southampton, NY, United States, 11968
May 2, 2011 at 1:27 PM | by | Comments (0)

With Memorial Day just a few weeks away, it's time to start thinking about your Start of Summer vacay plans. And while the Jersey Shore may have stolen the spotlight from the Hamptons as far as interesting characters go, the Hamptons hotel scene still remains hot.

Opening this Memorial Day weekend is Capri Southampton which promises not just hotel rooms (31 in total) but a (OMG) Nobu restaurant, a Cynthia Rowley Shop and its very own Bathing Club aka pool scene.

While the draw of Nobu and Cynthia Rowley are self-explanatory, it's the latter offering that has us most curious about Capri, especially since the beach is not quite close by. The website is not much more than a landing page at this point (no rezzies, no room descriptions, nada) but here is how the PR peeps are describing the BC.

Beachfront Hotels in Miami May Not Be So Fun This Weekend

May 26, 2010 at 9:30 AM | by | Comments (0)

This is what the beach will look like if Miami cracks down on hotels serving booze on the beach.

The Miami Herald is reporting that beachfront hotels in this sexy city will have to crack down on their alcohol sales, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. Apparently, hotels are not allowed to sell or serve customers alcoholic drinks on the beach.

Many hotels sell alcohol through oceanfront concession stands and hotel bar and restaurant waiters who bring drinks to guests sitting on the beach, but even that is illegal according to city laws.

The city's laws grant alcohol sales on public land only if the city manager or city commission have given a vendor permission.

Kimpton Offering Third Night Free for InTouch Members This Summer

May 25, 2010 at 2:20 PM | by | Comments (0)

While you debate the merits of joining a loyalty program for independent hotels, there's a new third night free promotion out this summer from Kimpton Hotels and its InTouch program.

Hotel guests who stay two nights at participating hotels this summer will get the third night free. The offer is good from now through September 6 but you must book by June 1. It also requires check-in either on Thurs, Friday or saturday but some hotels have it valid every day of the week like the Epic Hotel in Miami.

And speaking of last-minute Memorial Day getaways, we found rooms at the EPIC this weekend for for $272 a night but which works out to be about $182 a night with the third night free offer. Anyone want to go to Miami with us?

As far as other cities, New York was not listed but several hotels in San Fran, DC, Chicago and Seattle are participating. Just remember, you have to be a Kimpton InTouch member. Sign up here.
