This Summer, Head to Capri...in The Hamptons

With Memorial Day just a few weeks away, it's time to start thinking about your Start of Summer vacay plans. And while the Jersey Shore may have stolen the spotlight from the Hamptons as far as interesting characters go, the Hamptons hotel scene still remains hot.

Opening this Memorial Day weekend is Capri Southampton which promises not just hotel rooms (31 in total) but a (OMG) Nobu restaurant, a Cynthia Rowley Shop and its very own Bathing Club aka pool scene.

While the draw of Nobu and Cynthia Rowley are self-explanatory, it's the latter offering that has us most curious about Capri, especially since the beach is not quite close by. The website is not much more than a landing page at this point (no rezzies, no room descriptions, nada) but here is how the PR peeps are describing the BC.

Beachfront Hotels in Miami May Not Be So Fun This Weekend

This is what the beach will look like if Miami cracks down on hotels serving booze on the beach.

The Miami Herald is reporting that beachfront hotels in this sexy city will have to crack down on their alcohol sales, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. Apparently, hotels are not allowed to sell or serve customers alcoholic drinks on the beach.

Many hotels sell alcohol through oceanfront concession stands and hotel bar and restaurant waiters who bring drinks to guests sitting on the beach, but even that is illegal according to city laws.

The city's laws grant alcohol sales on public land only if the city manager or city commission have given a vendor permission.

Kimpton Offering Third Night Free for InTouch Members This Summer

While you debate the merits of joining a loyalty program for independent hotels, there's a new third night free promotion out this summer from Kimpton Hotels and its InTouch program.

Hotel guests who stay two nights at participating hotels this summer will get the third night free. The offer is good from now through September 6 but you must book by June 1. It also requires check-in either on Thurs, Friday or saturday but some hotels have it valid every day of the week like the Epic Hotel in Miami.

And speaking of last-minute Memorial Day getaways, we found rooms at the EPIC this weekend for for $272 a night but which works out to be about $182 a night with the third night free offer. Anyone want to go to Miami with us?

We can hardly believe that May is practically over but we're quite happy about that because it means we have a three-day weekend coming up! Yup Memorial Day is upon us and while HotelChatter is taking a break from hotel-hunting, we know that some of you may have some last-minute travel lust. If you're scrambling to find something to do Memorial Day weekend, the Maison 140 Beverly Hills is hoping you'll ditch your plans to grill hot dogs and burgers in your backyard and take advantage of a hotel special that'll cost you less than your barbecued meats.

Maison 140 is offering rooms for the holiday weekend for only $25. Of course, there's a catch. The Memorial Day deal requires that you stay at the hotel for two days for $175 per night. You can elect to extend your stay a third night, Sunday, for $25. So you'd have to spend $350 in order to be eligible for the 25-buck evening.

Roll Into DC on Your Hog For $99 Memorial Day Rates

One of the more surreal aspects of living in our nation’s capital can be the myriad meetings and conventions that are simultaneously occurring on any given day. You’re just walking down the street and, oh, look at that! Do Memorial Day On the Cheap at Le Meridien San Fran

Le Meridien is on an image-sprucing spree these days, with wacky décor, hotel renovations, and new properties. Lucky for you, they're doing something else: dishing up some killer room discounts at the four-diamond San Francisco property over Memorial Day — you know, in case you want another option for gettin' your Danny Tanner on.

Le Meridien San Francisco is offering the deal for Thursday-Sunday stays from May 22-June 7. Though the initial advertised rates for rooms started at $139, people have been snatching them up. Now we hear that you can still get a room May 22-23 for $159 per night, though that evens out a little bit with the $119 you'll pay to stay on May 24. The $139 rate still seems to be holding out on the other travel dates, and is over a 50% discount from the average rate of $325 you'd normally pay to here. Nice.

The hotel is close to the major must-sees downtown, like Union Square, the Ferry Building and the Embarcadero, so it makes for a good home base in the city by the bay.
