Bold Faced Names Welcome Standard’s Boom Boom Room

There’s no word of it on The Standard’s website yet, but naturally the celebrities are already all over it. Madonna (and Jesus), Jude Law, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Harnett, Rachel Zoe, Lindsay Lohan, Courtney Love—and did we mention Madonna?—were just some of the guests on hand to help Andre Balazs celebrate the opening of the Standard’s new penthouse bar, the Boom Boom Room, on Saturday night.

The HotelChatter Diva Tracker: Mariah, Beyonce and Madge

Mariah arrives at the Dorchester.
If you were a pop-star diva a la Madonna and could, ostensibly, spend nights in any hotel in the whole entire world, where would you go? The Seasons? The Ritz? We'd guess old-school, Sean-Penn-era Madge would probably hit up The Standard NYC with all its public sexytime craziness and, oh, wait, this just in: rumor has it she's there right now.
The Stan D'Arde Twitter spread some hot goss on the Internet this morning: "Madonna is @StandardNY. Shhhhhhh." Yes, yes. We'll be quiet about it when we're skulking around the High Line this evening.

Madonna Takes Sticky and Sweet Antics to Brazil

Seriously, what did we do when Madonna wasn't on tour and making all sorts of scandalous stops at hotels in different cities. The latest scoop takes place in Brazil. From Page Six:
According to Page Six spies and to Glamurama.com.br., the superstar singer - newly single after shelling out over $75 million to ex Guy Ritchie - shot an editorial layout for W magazine at the posh Hotel Gloria in Rio de Janeiro last weekend with a smoking hot male model, Jesus Luz....
According to the Brazilian Web site, "Everyone knows they are ficando - which is a Portuguese expression that means they are kissing and doing other things but without any obligation of being faithful or getting into a relationship afterwards."
Ficando. Officially our new favorite word.
A few days later, Madonna shacked up at the Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo where she attended a special ceremony hosted by a Brazilian rabbi. Of course, where there's a rabbi, there's Madonna.

Madonna's Millions Put To Use at Four Seasons Buenos Aires

When Madonna travels, there's no messing around. According to gossip reports, the provocative pop star spent $1 million at the Four Seasons Buenos Aires when she was in Argentina for her Sticky and Sweet tour.
Madonna is said to have splashed out $9,000 a night to stay in the hotel's luxury suite - a private mansion in the grounds - while her 200 backing dancers, singers, make-up artists, choreographers, managers and security took up another 110 rooms, costing a minimum of $600 each.
The Four Seasons is without a doubt one of BA's best luxury hotels yet we're a little dismayed that Madonna wasn't able to negotiate some sort of group rate for her team. $600 a night is crazy expensive. The Moreno Hotel's lofts, which start around $150 a night probably would have suited them better.

Madonna and Sean Penn Catch Up at the Greenwich
Possibly celebrating her divorce from Guy Ritchie (but more likely just sitting down to catch up), the ubiquitous Madonna chit-chatted over drinks with her first ex-hubby, Sean Penn, at Robert DeNiro's Greenwich Hotel Wednesday night. We wonder if the two of them picked the Greenwich 'cause Sean Penn was just in a movie with him (the underhyped What Just Happened no, we don't know much about it either).
The always-informative Page Six puts the whole evening in context for us:
Madonna...had drinks at the Greenwich Hotel with her first ex-husband, Sean Penn, Wednesday night after attending a Gucci event with mega-manager Guy Oseary. Guy had reason to celebrate too, as his Maverick Films exec-produced "Twilight," the teen vampire movie, appears headed for blockbuster status.
Yeah, producing Twilight is a reason to celebrate for reals, especially considering such culty traveling fangirls all this Twilight hype seems to be generating. And yet another reason for Madge to celebrate: she was allowed into the Greenwich Hotel, which is more than some of us can say.
PS: what does Madonna drink when she goes out "for drinks"? Do they stock Kabbalah Water at the hotel bar?

Thompson LES Hosts Madonna's "Filthy" Soiree
How to get your new hotel on the map, even if it's still under construction -- the Thompson LES way: host a party for Madonna.
Fashion Week Daily reports the new Pomeranc spot was christened by the hot high heels of Madge on Monday night as the Thompson LES played host to the afterparty for Filth and Wisdom, Madonnas directorial debut.
Notable A-Listers in attendance: Jessica Alba and funny-named boyf, LiLo, Jeremy Piven, Lake Bell and Padma Lakshmi -- among many others.
We hear the fashion was all about Dolce & Gabbana, which is no surprise since Pomeranc's girl, Ali Wise, is the Director of Entertainment PR at D&G. Nicely done.

The Material Girl Is Still Very Serious About Material Things

"You must cook for Madonna as if she is the real Queen."
That is what one of Madonna's people supposedly told the kitchen staff at St. David's Spa and Hotel in Cardiff where Madge was staying during the first night of her Sticky and Sweet Concert Tour.
Despite the hotel's over-the-top efforts to please her with a total remodel of her top-floor suite including new furniture, curtains, rugs, TV, and on and on, she still managed to throw a fit about some chips.
According to the Wales Online site, the oil they were cooked in was "too old." The St. David's chef says the oil was only two days old, but it was--of course--changed to please the queen.
[Ed. Note: Madonna eats chips/fries? And oil? What happened to her macrobiotic diet?]

French TV Crew Invades Madonna's Hotel in Cannes

We've avoided covering the hotel scene at the Cannes Film Festival this year largely because the same shizz happens every year, practically on auto-pilot. Expensive hotels get more expensive, movies get booed and applauded, Sharon Stone walks the red carpet over and over and nothing really truly of interest happens.
Except when it happens to Madonna. Apparently, Madge was holed up in the Intercontinental Carlton Hotel in Cannes last week while there to promote her documentary, "I Am Because We Are", about orphans in Malawi. But she got pissed when she saw that a French TV crew had managed to sneak into her suite and film the place, including the special water and gym equipment she had requested.
And according to the French newspaper, Le Parisien, Madonna won't pay the $90,000 hotel bill because of the security breach. Usually, we think Madonna's a bit of a crackpot but she's actually very right in this instance. We bet a couple of people got fired at the Carlton this week.

Rockin' the Waldorf-Astoria
[Ed. Note: We had a secret operative at the Waldorf-Astoria on Monday night when Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Said spy, AllBeachy, gives us the full report of what went down. Madonna fans listen up. Enjoy.

The normally somewhat-staid Waldorf-Astoria was rockin’ on Monday night as the annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner crowd took over the ballroom. Beautiful People abounded, as a mix of luminaries from the worlds of entertainment, publishing, and business table-hopped and schmoozed it up.

Rates at the Waldorf the Night Madonna and Others Get Inducted into Hall of Fame
Calling all Material Girls (and Boys). Madonna is going to be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York on March 10. Thus we have begun scoping out some prices for the hotel.
The best deal we can see right now is directly through the hotel's website. We found a double-bedded room at $319 a night (March 9-11). However it's a handicap accessible room. Usually this means more space but could also mean funky shower heads.
Other sites like Hotels.com are offering rooms starting at $369 a night, not including tax. But this way you have more flexibility as far as bed choices. Go to HotelChatter's Hotel Rates to see the complete findings for the Waldorf.
But if the NYC hotels are pushing your budget over the borderline (sorry, had to do that), once again Six Columbus has an unreal deal via Quikbook. Rooms are going for $99 on March 9 and for $135 on March 10th. (Plug in the dates for NYC and this should pop up.)

Is the Material Girl Trying Her Hand in Club Land?
If we can trust the reliable folk at er, "Pop Bitch", it would certainly appear that way.
The gossip newsletter says that the basement bar at London's Park Lane Hilton, Zeta, is to be relaunched as a private members club by Mahiki owner Piers Adam and his cohorts, with none other than Madonna rounding out the partnership (Adam was Guy Ritchie's best man at Madge's wedding).
The Zeta bar is actually just one of the many nightlife and dining options offered in the hotel, which also has a Trader Vic's restaurant, a POP champagne bar, and the Galvin at Windows french restaurant on the 28th floor which offers 360 degree views of the city. There's also a more relaxed dining area with the Podium restaurant.
However, with Amy Sacco having launched Bungalow in London last year at the St. Martins Lane Hotel, and Richard Caring's entertainment empire continuing to expand at an astronomic rate, Adam and Mads will have their work cut out for them.
Caring, who owns Annabel's private club and The Ivy and Le Caprice restaurants has just snapped up another of London's most exclusive venues, Soho House. Another elite club is due to open above The Ivy this spring.
But we think if Madonna wants to get into the nightclub business, it can't be much worse than her "movie career." Besides, won't listening to Borderline inside Madonna's club feel that much more special?
