The Five Best Hotels for the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

November 2, 2009 at 12:54 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Yes, once again it's time for our annual list of Best Hotels For Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is our fourth installment and while last year's choices and anything in the vicinity of Times Square still holds true, we decided to do away with the old and bring in some new choices. And it looks like the Macy's Day parade will be trying something new itself on November 26th.

This year the parade will go down 7th Avenue instead of the old Broadway. The start will still kick off at 77th and Central Park West.

Sadly, the cast of Glee will not be performing at the parade, a lame decision on Macy's and NBC's part but there's still plenty of traditional fun to be had. However, you may miss out on all of it if you don't book soon. As we said last year, the early bird totally gets the good, crunchy, still warm part of the stuffing here.

The Five Best Hotels for the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

It's that time of the year again--The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. And the annual tradition on HotelChatter has been to round up the best hotels with views of the parade. We've come up with a new batch this year but just in case, you can peruse our previous selections here.

As we were writing this, we found that a lot of hotels in Manhattan along the parade route have availability and most were asking for reasonable prices (considering it's Manhattan during the Macys parade.) However, the rates may change as Thanksgiving gets closer so remember, the early bird totally gets the best part of the stuffing here.

Best Hotels for the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade

October 24, 2007 at 3:17 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

A few years back we did a list of Hotels on the Macys Parade Route for those of you considering a visit to the Big Apple to see the action live and in person.

While not much has changed, there are some new hotels we think are worth a look. Like the newly opened Six Columbus. Or the Mandarin Oriental (if you can afford it). How about Vikram Chatwal's funky Dream Hotel?

For more mainstream options if you want to use your rewards points we say try the W Hotel Times Square or the Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square. Really, anything along Broadway in Times Square should offer you a view. Even if you can't book a room with a parade view, you can watch from other floors.

If you want to study the parade route, the NYCvisit.com has their own list of hotels with parade views. One last piece of advice? When booking make it absolutely clear to the reservations agent that you want a room with a view of the parade. Not just a view but of the parade.
