New JW Marriott Los Cabos Coming in 2015
Yet another hotel is planned for the distant future. We can expect a new JW Marriott hotel in Cabo San Lucas for 2015. The 300-room luxury beachfront resort will be set in Puerto Los Cabos, an eat, live and work planned community that will span about 2,000 massive acres. The Marriott will occupy 14 of those.
On the agenda for the hotel will be two restaurants, a casual grill, snack venue and an outdoor bar. There will also be the usual resort amenities and activities from pool and spa to fitness center and and tennis courts.
Life's unfortunately, not all play, so for the business crowd, the hotel will house 13,131 square feet of meeting space, which will consist of break-out rooms, a ballroom and a boardroom. Not to leave the kids out, a children's club is on the horizon as well.

Obama and Hill Keep it Tranquil in Los Cabos' Esperanza
We love Cabo San Lucas and apparently so does the White House, as President Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton chose the posh 57-casita and suite Esperanza Resort as the official host for the entire U.S. delegation during the G-20 Mexico Summit on June 18-19th.
Our question is, did the Prez have to stay all official-like the whole time, or did he manage to sneak away for a quick dip in the pool?

Which Hotel in Cabo Made Tom Brady Squeal Like a Little Girl?
NFL quarterback, Mr. Gisele Bundchen, er, we mean Tom Brady is not having too bad of an off-season. Check him out squealing with delight as rides down the water slide at a luxury hotel in Los Cabos, Mexico.
But while Deadspin is running the too-easy caption contest to go with this photo, we're trying to figure out where he and Gisele were staying.
Our first thought was One and Only as the colors and stone walls look very similar. Alas, One & Only doesn't have a water slide. Then in this shot Brady and the missus chilling by their private pool we spied some blue pool towels with a logo yet we still can't figure out which hotel it belongs to.
We rarely ever say this when it comes to celebrity hotel stays but Help! We didn't survive The Rapture only to be stumped by Tom and Gisele's Cabo hotel. If you think you know which resort made Tom squeal like a little girl, tell us in comments below!

Barcelo Resorts Use Weird Talking Pillows To Sell New Los Cabos Resort
Talking pillows. Of course. Obvious candidates for a big hotel promotion campaign. Or have the Barceló Hotels group simply gone completely mad?
If only for novelty value alone, the new campaign from the Barceló group, "Pillow Talk", wins big points. It features six videos of two talking pillows, Sophie the Softie and Drew the Dreamer (who incidentally have their own Twitter accounts), as they dream of a better life. Spoiler alert, in case you want to watch all six videos and enjoy the suspense: Sophie and Drew end up finding this better life at the newest Barceló hotel in Mexico, the Barceló Los Cabos Palace Deluxe, which will open up on December 17, 2009 (or December 15, depending on which page of their website you trust).

Summer '09 is the Year of the Sea Turtle at Los Cabos Hotels
Our mention last week of the turtles at the Hilton Barbados was obviously just the tip of the iceberg. No hotel worth its sea salt is ignoring the critters these days, and that's especially true of pretty much every hotel at Los Cabos in Mexico.
For example, the Hilton Los Cabos Resort shows its turtle-friendly colors by having its staff relocate turtle nests to safe "corrals" at the front of the hotel's beach perimeter so that the baby turtles can hatch safely. At the Las Ventanas al Paraiso they have their beach attendants guard the turtle nests and put up signs to warn off guests – and the part we nearly can't believe is that when the turtle eggs hatch, this happens:
The attendants swirl sashes in the air to frighten away any sea birds that may be lingering near the baby turtles.
Guests also get a small ceramic turtle on their pillow at night to commemorate the whole turtle experience here. And over at the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar, the attendants who get the (we guess quite boring) job of watching over the turtle nests must also register the date of birth of each turtle. Basically it all comes down to this: if you're heading to Los Cabos, you can't just check the room rates or amenities at a hotel — you also have to check just how well they're taking care of the turtles.
