Summer music festival-goers from the die-hard to the casual all know that Lollapalooza is happening in Chicago this weekend. Yet even hotel geeks will want to come out for Lollapalooza, thanks to the first-ever LollaShop, a pop-up shop where official Lollapalooza goods will be sold before the concerts begin. Yes, for the first time ever you don't actually have to have a ticket to Lollapalooza to buy the concert gear.

The LollaShop is currently open at 332 S. Michigan Ave (at E. Van Buren Street) and is selling festival t-shirts, hats, and even hipster fanny packs. It's also holding signings with festival performers as well as listening parties and performances in the Thompson Hotel Lounge. That's right. Thompson Hotels is offering a sneak peek into their new Chicago hotel which will officially be rebranded a Thompson in place of the old Sutton Place.

With the hot Lollapalooza music fest hitting Chicago’s Grant Park August 3-5, hotel rooms in the Windy City are growing scarcer - and more expensive - by the minute. And tickets for the event have long sold out, which might leave you thinking the Lolla ship has sailed. Not so, friends, or at least not so for our friends with benjamins to toss around.

The James Hotel Chicago is calling it its Very Important Rocker Getaway Weekend package and there are two levels to choose from:

The first level includes:
- Three nights in a residentially-styled suite
- Two VIP Three-Day passes to Lollapalooza (already sold out to the general public and valued at $2,000)
- Two tickets to the House of Blues After-Shows on Friday and Saturday nights (Tune Yards and Washed Out play on Friday, with Monsters and Men and Yellow Ostrich on Saturday)
- Audi car service from The James to Grant Park during the festival
- Two Classic American Breakfasts from David Burke's Primehouse each morning

Or ditch the car service for the second level:
- Three nights in a residentially-styled guestroom
- Two VIP Three-Day passes to Lollapalooza
- Two tickets to the House of Blues After-Shows on Friday and Saturday nights
- Two Classic American Breakfasts from David Burke's Primehouse each morning

Chuck and Vanessa Do Shots (And Probably More) at the Hard Rock Chicago

And by Chuck and Vanessa we mean Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr--the on-off lovebirds of Gossip Girl. The pair reportedly split a few months ago but it looks like things were back on during Chicago's Lollapalooza festival when they checked into a VIP Suite at the Hard Rock Chicago. E! Online reports:

While hanging at the Cabo Wabo tequila lounge (inside the Hard Rock), they even engaged in some PDA. Blame it on the alcohol!

"They were taking shots," the source says. "They're definitely a couple. They were kissing and holding hands."

Later, the couple hotel-hopped to the Sax Hotel where they attended an after party for The Black Keys. Sexy! But we want to know more about their hotel room.

Yesterday, we announced the winner of our Hotel Preston dream amenity contest: the mind behind the simple-but-brilliant idea to stick an acoustic guitar in the guestrooms for guests' plucking and strumming pleasure (or at least for some cute photo opps for the ol' Facebook album).

Up in Chicago, the more hard-rock-minded (heh) musicians or musician-wannabe's have a sweet opportunity, thanks to Gibson Guitars and the Hard Rock Chicago: On the eve of the Lollapalloza Music Festival (August 7-9, 2009), guests checking into the Hard Rock have the opportunity to "Check In and Rock Out" (oy, we know, we didn't make this name up) with their very own loaned Gibson guitar.

The Lollapalooza weekend is getting close again and the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago has a deal we rather like: it's the "Dude, My Name is on the List" package and for $4,100 you get a pretty cool VIP experience for Lollapalooza over the weekend of August 1-3.

The VIP package includes two nights' accommodation in a tower suite, two VIP passes to Lollapalooza include Lolla Lounge access and full access to the Hard Rock's Music Lounge, including post-festival parties each night.

Your only problem might be gathering enough courage to actually ask for a package that's called, "Dude, My Name is on the List."

At the tender age of 16, we attended our first Lollapalooza Concert. Sonic Youth, Pavement, Hole and Cypress Hill were playing, and boy, did we get our ass kicked in the crowd. The only respite we had was coming home to a shocked mother, who tended to our cuts and bruises while berating herself for thinking Lollapalooza was some sort of lollipop renaissance fair.

Mom's older and wiser now, and so are we, which is why we're considering the concert packages available at The James Chicago when we attend this summer's Lollapalooza, featuring Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine and that other `90s favorite, Nine Inch Nails.
