Yes, it's a Leap Year! An entire day added to the month, an entire extra day for some hotel-lovin'. And the hotels are pretty excited about it too! We've hunted around for the best Leap Year deals from San Antonio to New York to London. Unsurprisingly, several of them overlap with Valentine's Day festivities—but as they say, bargains make the heart grow fonder...
Grand Hyatt New York, fresh from its recent $130 million renovation, is feeling generous. So they're singling out people who are either turning 29 this year or who were born on a leap year. While the 29-year-olds actually make out with something cool (free appetizer or dessert at New York Central, pictured above), leap year babies (anyone born in 2008, 2004, 2000, 1996, etc), as usual, get the short end of the stick. That would be a "free" Dylan's Candy Bar cupcake...-shaped tin (not even an actual cupcake!) from the hotel's 24-hour convenience store, Market.
With a purchase of $9 or more. Seriously. These guys only celebrate their birthday once every four years. Can't we just give them a free cupcake and call it a day? Rates from $309.

Leap Into The Mountains of Virginia with this Leap Year Deal
Nothing says the mountains of Virginia like some floral decor!
Yup, 2012 is a leap year, which means not only do we gain a whole day in February, but also that we'll be seeing hotel rates 'leap' down in celebration of the quadrennial occasion. Like at the 3,000-acre Homestead in Hot Springs, VA, where guests are being offered a buy-one-get-one type deal for all of 2012.
With a booking period that lasts only from tomorrow until Friday January 6, anyone who books a room at the hotel will receive a second night starting at just $29. Gee, kinda makes us wish it was March 1 that's considered the leap day, and not February 29, so we could bring that number down to a nice clean $1. But we don't make up the calendars!

This Leap Year, Ladies Can Utilize the Proposal Butler
To celebrate the tradition of women being "allowed" to propose on February 29th (as it is not recognized by the British legal calendar), London's May Fair Hotel is offering a "Leap Year Proposal Package" encouraging young ladies to take the romantic reins this year.
This is very similar to the proposal package that Kimpton Hotels is offering stateside, only a tad bit pricier and well, that one doesn't come with the services of a Proposal Butler. Yes, we said Proposal Butler.

Hotel Monaco Denver Invites Women to Get Drunk, Propose
Apparently it's a tradition for women to make marriage proposals in leap years--so commitment-adverse partners take note of February 29 in 2008, especially if your loved one suggests getting away that weekend to Denver's Hotel Monaco.
The Kimpton-owned property is offering a "Dare to Propose" package, which for $259, includes valet parking, gourmet aphrodisiacs, special Leap Day cocktails and micro-brewed beer.
It was not disclosed whether the abundance of alcohol here is meant to give women the courage to pop the question or to get one's companion drunk enough to say (or slur) yes.
