VIVA VEGAS: Tropicana on Hotel Casino Death Watch

While following up on our favorite Hotel Death Watch subject, the Hooters Casino Hotel, we learned that the Tropicana is also on death watch and this looks much more imminent than Hooter's.
In an article about Hooters, the Ledger in Florida mentions that the Tropicana will be demolished by a developer who plans to put a multibillion-dollar resort in its place. True, rumors were abound last year that the hotel was closing as well as back in 2004 but so far, we can't dig up an actual closing date.
The Casino City Times mentioned a July rebuilding project back in November but obviously that hasn't happened.
The latest bit of news comes from the Las Vegas Sun who mentioned some negotiation difficulties between staffers and the Tropicana's new owners, thus making a closing likelier than ever.
