The ball drop in Times Square is so last decade—you know it's true when it's all about gimmicks like putting Jersey Shore guidette Snooki inside of the lit-up ball, hamster-style. The New Year's Eve tradition that's fistpump-free for 2011 is the first-time pineapple drop at the Kahala Hotel & Resort in Honolulu.

The only celeb who might make an appearance is President Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii with his family.

The Landmark London's Sale Has Been A Bit Tarnished By A Hotel Murder

This is horrible. Just two days after we were about the Landmark London’s new room sale, it’s been announced that a guest was murdered there the same day.

A hotel maid found a 32-year-old man dead inside a third floor suite on Monday, where he’d been staying as a servant to a man claiming to be a Saudi prince, who’d been staying at the hotel for the past month.

Dontcha just love it when a good offer gets repeated? The Landmark London’s £140 sale last year did so well that they’re repeating it this week (only it’s not quite as good value).

From today until Sunday 28 February, you can book a room on weekends from £149 ($233), or Sunday to Thursday for £199 ($312). It’s quite a hefty saving – at normal prices, a stay this Saturday night would cost you £290 and up.

It’s sales time! And just when the shop ones are trailing off (unless you’re in the mood for everyone else’s rejects), London’s Landmark Hotel has started its own sale.

It may not be quite on the same scale of The Hoxton’s £1 offer, but it’s still not bad – stay before 30 April, and you can get a weekend room for £140 ($200). At £229 ($327), weekdays are a bit more, but you’re still saving half the price on the official rates – although the 20% off spa treatments that they’re also offering could gobble up your spare change…

The sale ends on Sunday, so move quick. After all, you wouldn’t want to end up in the Cromwell Crown…
