Palms Place Quack-Pot Pool Party Every Tuesday

The newest tower in the Palms family, Palms Place, kicked off a weekly summer pool party on Tuesday night which is actually a bit different from the usual sexy pool parties thrown in Vegas.

At Palms Place, the pool just outside the Simon restaurant is filled with thousands and thousands of rubber duckies. The Daily Fiasco has the scoop:

Simon at Palms Place kicked off its new duck party last night, wherein 25,000-some-odd rubber ducks floated on the water. Ernie would have been left breathless in sensory overload. Some specially marked ducks could be hunted for prizes, with the added benefit of not having that damn dog laugh at you if you came up empty handed. DJ Adam 12 of She Wants Revenge took care of the music.

This past Tuesday saw George Clooney's ex, Sarah Larson, cuddling up to actor Jason Statha. Next week, Lindsay Lohan's BFF (or more) Samantha Ronson will be DJing. Happy Hour at Simon (from Chef Kerry Simon) takes place from 6 to 8pm and the party gets started at 8pm going to midnight.

Mischa Barton to Host the Opening of CatHouse at the Luxor in Las Vegas

The CatHouse lounge inside the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is set to open on December 29th and we just got word that The O.C. star Mischa Barton will be the guest host.

As we told you before, CatHouse is a new lounge/restaurant from chef Kerry Simon (above) that aims to be "sexual, sensual and seductive." The lounge was inspired by 19th century French bordellos and will be adjacent to Simon's restaurant and a performance theater.

Should you fans of Marisa Cooper want to spend the night, we found rooms for only $169 a night at the Luxor. Not that bad but we can't promise that Ryan Atwood will be there.

Meow, Luxor to Open Its CatHouse By Late December

After the recent opening of its LAX nightclub, The Luxor Hotel & Casino is adding another hotspot by the end of this year called, CatHouse.

The place will feature an unusual combination (but perhaps not that unusual for Vegas) of a celebrity chef restaurant from Kerry Simon with a lounge and erotic performance theatre. From the press release:

A loungerie inspired by the rich opulence of a 19th century European bordello, CatHouse was creaed by an international team that includes European jet-setters, Australian celebrities, theatrical producers and Sin City's most popular chef....

Interactive theatrics--in the form of exotically clad, professionally trained performers--means personal surpise is mandatory for every guest.

Kerry Simon will put his "signature approach" on American cuisine by trying out American tapas. Other jetsetter partners include Australian club owner and promoter Billy Cross and Mick Doohan, a five-time world Moto GP motorcycle racing champion.

If you couldn't guess from the name CatHouse, this loungerie will be extremely sexual, sensual and seductive. Indeed, the owners are hoping CatHouse will be the place guests can go to for "willful voyeurism, twisting taboos and playing with social mores."

The grand opening of the club will happen on December 29th with a full red carpet event as new clubs in Vegas are wont to do. This is just the latest in changes at the Luxor which is getting a $250 million overhaul. Looks like they paid attention to those hotel casinos Crapping Out or Breaking Even on our Viva Las Vegas Hotel Map.

HBO Parties at the Sofitel LA for the Emmys

We happened to be celebrating a friend's birthday inside Stone Rose at the Sofitel Los Angeles on Saturday night which was the exact same night that HBO was holding their pre-Emmy dinner party at the SimonLA restaurant.

So as we guzzled down our seabreezes we got to watch castmembers of The Sopranos walking in and out. We saw Bobby Bacala, Johnny Sack and AJ with a much-taller and much drunker girl hanging off his arms. A special thanks to Paulie Walnuts who took the time to stop when he noticed us waving at him wildly. He blew us air kisses and the peace sign when we said that we were from NJ and that we loved him. Hmmm...Seabreezes make you say funny things.

Also walking around and checking out the young ladies was the chef Kerry Simon himself who definitely likes to check out the young ladies if you know what we mean. Although, the last one we spied him holding hands with was probably in her 30s.

We continued our stalker tactics when we saw Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords walk by with some drinks. We totally flagged him down much to the embarrassment of our friends who actually work in the industry and we told him how much we love his show and that we watch every week.

Jemaine: if you're reading this, the girl in the long purple dress meant to ask you if you were wearing your business socks.

Sofitel's Simon LA Serving Both Cotton and Eye Candy

The newly renovated Sofitel Los Angeles Hotel has made a big splash not just with its snazzier decor, but also with its popular new restaurant, Simon LA--helmed by chef Kerry Simon.

And although the restaurant has received pretty good reviews for all of its courses, the big hit seems to be the Junk Food Platter. Junk Food in LA? Apparently so. Here's  what one Zagat's reviewer said:

Junk Food platter with Cotton candy, carmel corn, donuts, cookies, peanut butter sundae, cupcakes...outrageous.

There's also Ding Dongs, Rice Krispies Treats, Cracker Jacks, and SnoBalls on the tray. We hear Hugh Hefner is a big fan of the pink cotton candy. He probably also likes the  girls that are roaming around the place as another reviewer says:

And speaking of visual, the eye candy is out of this world. Anyone over 30 should bring extra batteries for their pacemaker - the risk is well worth the reward!

Gridskipper seems to echo this thought in their review as they say the "amount of willowy, would-be models sipping their soda water is staggering." Yeah, we're guessing they're are not the ones ordering the junk food.
