In The Same Week As Katie Holmes, Obama Drops In On The NoMad
Plenty of news sites were abuzz yesterday with Obama's five-hour fundraising stopover in Manhattan—though most of the information was posted as traffic warnings about the multiple streets and avenues that would be closed off by the President's motorcade.
But one detail about the event caught our eye: the venue chosen for the fundraising event (tickets for which went for a reported $40,000 a head) was none other than Manhattan's newest 'in' hotel, The NoMad.

Not Surprisingly, Tom Cruise Has Some Strange Hotel Habits
The TomKat Divorce might be over and done with but the rumors behind Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' bizarro marriage--especially involving the religion that shall not be named--will probably live on forever. And given that the duo spent most of their time aboard private jets and private yachts and checking in and out of hotels, we've been waiting for the hotel gossip to come. And National Enquirer does not disappoint.
The tabloid reports that just two weeks before Katie filed for divorce, the duo checked into the "best hotel in all of Iceland", The Hilton Nordica and was holed up in the $1,000-a night Presidential Suite while Tom was filming his latest movie. But oddly enough, Tom had his bodyguards put up black duct tape over the security cameras that are placed in the corridor outside the suite.

TomKat Tests The Velvet Rope At Gansevoort Park's Plunge
Some of the first people to party at Plunge were Katy Perry and Russell Brand. Now TomKat has blessed the Gansevoort Park Avenue's rooftop pool deck and lounge with their starry presence.
The pair hit up the premiere party for The Romantics (which stars Holmes) on Tuesday night, and apparently weren't too impressed with the VIP-ness of the cabana they were cozied up in.
According to Page Six, a 'well dressed intruder'--presumably a guest of the party but not quite VIP enough--got past security and approached The TomKat.

Suri Cruise Does NOT Want to Leave The Bowery Hotel
We'd never consider the ultra-hip Bowery Hotel a family-friendly place but if it's alright with Suri Cruise, then it's alright for the other tots out there--provided you have equally famous parents.
Katie Holmes attempted to leave the hotel with her 3-year-old daughter the other day but little Suri--decked in heels and lip gloss--refused to leave and had to eventually be carried out. Hmm...that's not so different from the diva behavior thrown down by another frequent guest--Lindsay Lohan. Ooo, Tom and Katie, you better keep an eye on Suri.
To be fair, Suri demonstrated much better behavior during a snowstorm.

Tribeca Film Fest Lures Katie Holmes to The Cooper Square Hotel
With the Tribeca Film Festival in town through May 3, the hip hotels of New York City are absolutely gushing with celebs drinking in the lounges, dining in the on-site restaurants, or simply partying it up on the rooftop. One such property reaping the love of thirsty starlets and film fans is surprisingly our new old friend, the Cooper Square Hotel. After hosting party after party on the penthouse veranda, including last night's Independent Filmmaker Project's 30-year Celebration, the Coop' can count Katie Holmes as a fan.
Although she arrived without hubby Tom and daughter Suri, Katie climbed to the top of the big white behemoth hotel, which is totally not in Tribeca, and lent her support to the organization which produces programs to connect the independent filmmakers with people already in the biz. Now that the Cooper Square can claim some paparazzi pictures of Katie with their property, will it become a hotspot for next year's Tribeca Film Fest events? There's only so many parties that the Soho House can host, after all.

The Copacabana Palace Now Hosting the Cruises
As usual, while the rest of the country is buzzing about the Super Bowl, drinking cheap-o beer and munching on processed snacks while Hollywood-ers throw each other lavish parties and spend the whole night in 'da club, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri are existing in their own little universe.
And that own little universe just happened to be, in this case, located in Rio. The fam packed up Suri (and whatever else they pack on trips; we cannot even imagine) and headed down to the Copacabana Palace Hotel, which is apparently the only place anyone ever goes in Rio. According to Gossip Girls, the clan jetted to Brazil together so Tom could attend a press conference and the premiere of his new movie Valkyrie.
For as lavish as this hotel is (rates start around $390), it seems to be pretty kid friendly — recall that this luxe hotspot is where we last spotted Jude Law, who was also chillin' there with his kiddies.
Also notable: Tom Cruise is wearing what, at first glance, appear to be jean shorts, but upon further inspection they seem to be denim-hued board shorts of some sort.

What Really Goes on at Cut When TomKat Visits?
Guess who dined at Cut last night at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire? Yup. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. This time they brought along Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and his wife.
When TomKat is in Los Angeles, they probably eat at Cut once a week. We can't blame them as we've experienced Cut personally and it is pretty darn good.
We can only wonder what TomKat talks about with their dining partners. We'd like to think it's about making movies, raising children, and comparing private jets but we have a sneaking suspicion that the dreaded S word comes up too.
Is this how TomKat does it? Wows a couple with a fantastic meal by Wolfgang Puck and then surprises them with an E-meter reading?

Inside the Life of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes: Dining al Fresco in the Dolomites
In this edition of Hotel Habits of the Rich and Famous...
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, quite the European couple these days, went back to the scene of their nuptials, Italy, this past weekend to belatedly celebrate their one-year anniversary which was Nov. 18th.
We're told that Tom, Katie and Baby Suri hit up the Rosa Alpina Hotel & Spa in the Dolomites in the Italian Alps for a quick lunch. Chef Norbert Niederkofler from the hotel's St. Hubertus restaurant served a special five-course lunch al fresco for the Cruises who were joined by the spa director and namesake, Daniela Steiner, before they did some snowmobiling.
Alas, the famous family did not spend the night. They had a helicopter chopper them back to Milan where they did what they do best, some shopping.
