March 30, 2009 at 5:29 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Finding a hotel is often only one part of your trip. The other half is getting there. And our bro Jaunted does a bang-up job of covering the latest news and trends in the travel world. Here are some recent stories from Jaunted that are worth a look.

· Dominican Field Trip: Ellen Wernecke tells you where Christopher Columbus may or may not have slept. Also, don't forget about plantains!

· Panama Field Trip: Brendan Spiegel continues his Panama Field Trip reports including a worthwhile hotel to check-in to.

· The Best Job in the World: Jaunted interviewed Angelene Orth, who is looking to win the "Best Job in the World" Contest put on by Tourism Queensland. The winner gets to live on an island in the Great Barrier Reef for six months and get paid to do it!

· Mayercraft Dispatches from Twitter: We don't know what's worse on the Mayercraft Carrier--seasickness, John Mayer molesting the microphone with his mouth or softserve ice cream?

This is for a good cause — 100% of the proceeds from this package are going to Musicians On Call ("a nonprofit organization that brings the healing power of music to patients in healthcare facilities") — so we're not going to hate on this despite the way some of us may or may not feel about John Mayer. We just want to tell you about it in case, you know, you're a big enough John Mayer fan that the idea of being pushed out to sea on a boat with him might seem awesome.

Jen Aniston and John Mayer Mellow Out at the Intercontinental Amstel

Where: PROFESSOR TULPPLEIN 1 , Amsterdam, Netherlands, 1018 GX
June 25, 2008 at 4:42 PM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

It must be nice to be Jennifer Aniston or John Mayer, whose days end inside a $1015-a-night Netherlands hotel room replete with the finest relaxation-enhancers Amsterdam has to offer...such as a view of the Amstel river, of course.

Splash news reports the two were bunking together at the ultra-posh Intercontinental Amstel last night. The historic hotel boasts mega-luxurious digs and unbelievable views (and lots of privacy) -- perfect for the undercover couple to unwind.

John is in Manchester today for his next gig. No word on whether or not Jen is gonna be in tow, but the paps are probably on the scene right now; we hope Mayer brought along some "relaxation assistance" from Amsterdam to help with the stress.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer Dirty Up the Pool at the Mandarin Oriental Miami

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer were first spotted getting cuddly in Miami poolside at the Mandarin Oriental a few weeks ago and out with his new lady love as she wrapped up filming after a brief trip to NYC, John Mayer has returned to the chlorinated waters once more with Jen.

Johniston (Mayerston? Jen-Jo? Jenyer? Mayifer?) were snapped clinging to each other in the pool over the weekend. Access Hollywood reports:

Photographers snapped the star couple spending some time poolside at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami on Saturday. Mayer flew south to hang g scenes for her new comedy "Marley & Me," co-starring Owen Wilson.

The duo also attended the "Marley" wrap party later that night at Nikki Coconut Grove in Miami.

Jennifer Aniston is a serial hotel abuser. Her and Brad Pitt called it quits at the Dorchester. Her and Vince Vaughn reportedly started their love affair at the Peninsula Beverly Hills. And she's a frequent guest at the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles.

So it makes perfect sense that her newest relationship kicks off at the Mandarin Oriental. Located away from the busy Ocean Drive on Brickell Key, the hotel has killer views of the Biscayne Bay. Plus, John never stayed here with Jessica Simpson. Let's just hope Jen (or the movie studio) is getting a discounted rate as rooms start around $500 a night.

Alright so it wasn't solely because of John Mayer but his recent appearance at the Sofitel Los Angeles with a new girlfriend Minka Kelly in tow reminded us that this renovated hotspot needed a listing on the HotelChatter Hollywood Hotel Map.

Also thanks to our recent spotting of the Sopranos cast as well as a Conchord (Jemaine Clement), the Sofitel LA has well-earned the #17 position.

We're a big fan of the place from a hotel standpoint. The renovations were pretty striking and the room reviews are solid. Plus, the place has a happening lounge scene at Stone Rose and an excellent restaurant, Simon LA.

Whether it was good enough for John Mayer and friend, we aren't sure. The stalkerazzi spotted the duo later at the Sunset Marquis--star map stop #13. John was also once a fan of the Four Seasons hotel (star map stop #9) as he squired Jessica Simpson there last year.

Scandal Rating: Medium.

Witnessed a semi scandalous Hollywood hotel scene? Talk.

Who cares about Oscar nominations when two pop stars are taking their fake relationship one step further?

Us Weekly reports that Jessica Simpson has now joined John Mayer on tour for his Miami dates. But lil Jess need not stay in a tour bus. Nope, she's getting her freak on in the presidential suite at Four Seasons Miami.

If you want to know what it's like to stay at the Four Seasons from a normal person's perspective or if you have an actual boyfriend (not just for the cameras) that you would like to visit there with, then check out Michael de Zayas' recent review on the place.

The Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles got a boost again to their Scandal Rating. Despite the fact that it was publicity hungry Jessica Simpson and her PR boyfriend John Mayer, we're still upping the hotel's celeb cred:

The "Dukes of Hazzard" star and the singer-songwriter were reunited at the posh Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Monday night just weeks after breaking up. Jessica - who arrived at the bar with her producer Romeo Antonio - was having a drink when John turned up.

According to TMZ, after a brief conversation - in which John reportedly asked Jessica whether or not there "was anything going on" between her and Romeo - John led her to the elevator and they disappeared upstairs.

A recent review of the place claims that unless you're famous, you won't be getting the royal treatment at the Four Seasons.

Although in our minds it is debatable whether or not Jessica Simpson is worthy of her fame, we're guessing the hotel pulled out all the stops for the faux love-birds.
