The Paramount Hotel has come a long way in the past decade. Back in 2007, the Philippe Starke-designed hotel was shuffling along like a lost soul after the departure of Ian Schrager. But last March, the hotel reopened after a $40-million renovation which saw an upgrade of the guest rooms, a redesigned two-story lobby, a new restaurant and bar, an Italian cafe, and the introduction of a hip retail concept, Free & The Brave.
“After the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation, we felt it was important to align the property with a management company that could successfully reposition the hotel,” says Aby Rosen, Co-Founder and Principal of RFR Holding LLC.
If you’ve driven through the Cahuenga Pass on your way to or from the Hollywood Bowl (or just to get on the 101) lately, you might have noticed some changes at the Hollywood Heights Hotel, starting with a bright coat of sunny yellow paint on the façade.
Recently taken over by the Interstate Hotels and Resorts Group, the hotel is completing a major renovation, and soon all 160 guest rooms will be accented with some nostalgic Hollywood décor like iconic movie posters and old black-and-white publicity shots of stars from Tinseltown’s golden age, as well as a few more modern amenities. Today’s visitors can enjoy LCD flatscreen TV’s, cushy new linens, restyled bathrooms, FACES Stockholm bath amenities, and complimentary WiFi. The pool area will also be spiffed up as the hotel installs new deck chairs and cabanas to give it more of a resort feel.
