This is a first aid kit with two bandages, two Tylenol, two decongestants, 2 antacid relief tablets and one antiseptic towelette from In-Room Plus, a company that provides hotels with minibar products.
We've seen kits with Tylenol or Advil before but we like the additions of the decongestants and the antacid tablets. Because that's totally happened before when we've come down with a sinus headache or an upset stomach late at night. So this kit saves us from making the trip (or paying someone else to make it for us.)
This thoughtful touch all goes back to our argument of making the minibar accessible and affordable, rather than just eliminating it entirely. We could do without the full-sized bottles of alcohol and the overpriced nuts but a little first aid kit like this can really come in handy.

We love hotel renovations nearly just as much as we love new hotels. But what we really love about hotel renovations is seeing the transformation that happens when an old, tired and lackluster room gets a modern makeover and transforms into new, spiffed-up, stylish guest room. Or put more simply, we love comparing the before and after.
Over at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, renovations are underway on all of the hotel's 361 guest rooms and 148 spacious suites. We got the chance to peek into both a not-yet-renovated room and a glammed up one and the difference is amazing.
Pre-renovations, the guest rooms look very much like they have for the past ten years or so. This is actually what the rooms looked like when the hotel was once a Park Hyatt. Ho-hum. We can't decide which is worse--the headboard or the drapes.
Keep reading to see how the rooms look after the renovation!

The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances. But of course, any hotel can assemble a fake tree, put on some lights and declare themselves "festive." Which is why we're looking at hotels that are really going ALL OUT. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!
One of the "must-dos" for visiting Paris is sampling some Ladurée macarons and bringing home a box or two (or three.) But if you're staying at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, you won't have to go far to get some macarons.
The hotel has just unveiled the largest macaron Christmas tree in the world, made out of 8,000 brightly colored Ladurée macarons. The main tree stands nearly 14 feet high, while 27 other Ladurée macaron trees of various sizes can be found throughout the hotel (until January 6th.)
So, you know which hotel bar has the best scotch collection, but, with apple season in full swing, perhaps you have a hankering for a good Calvados.
In that case, may we recommend you head up to the Intercontinental New York Barclay's Barclay Bar, where, with 92 labels this season, you'll find the country's biggest collection of apple brandy of Normandy France.
The InterContinental London The O2, located on the Greenwich Peninsula, adjacent to the arena, will open in 2015. It will have 452 rooms, a health spa, "numerous" restaurants, a couple of bars and a sky bar with 180-degree views over Canary Wharf and the River Thames. The hotel is also planning on having one of the largest pillar-free ballrooms in Europe. Alrighty then! The property will be managed by Arora Hotels under a franchise agreement with Meridian Hotel Operations.
No word on the price points but the InterCon Westminster goes for about $350 a night. We expect the InterCon O2 to be a little less than that, except of course when
One Direction big acts are playing at the arena.

If you're a fan of anything and everything Ritz-Carlton, you might remember the hotel brand having a property in Sydney that has since been merely part of fond memories of luxury digs and top-notch service in the upmarket inner-suburb of Double Bay. Now, some deep pockets are giving the old hotel new life by turning it into an InterContinetal Hotel.. This will be the second InterContinental Hotel for the city.
The new owners will fork over a wad of cash to transform the derelict building which was built as Australia's only Ritz in 1991 and eventually became the destination for the likes of Princess Diana, Madonna and Bill Clinton on their visits Down Under. In 1997, the hotel made an infamous list when INXS lead-man, Michael Hutchence, was hung himself in room 524 causing the hotel's reputation to nosedive. In 2001, it was turned into Sir Stamford which then closed in 2009 causing the building to go in ill-repair.
From squeezy European Single to California King, we’ve done a lot of sleeping around here at HC. With hotel beds that is, of course. We hear about sleep concierges and pillow menus, see hotels hawking their goods for you take home, and encounter sheets that are somewhat past their use-by date.
If size is of importance (that’s your dirty mind, not ours), the InterContinental Park Lane might just have most hotels beat with the biggest bed we’ve seen in quite some time in its top-of-the-line Royal Suite. King what? Say hello to the Emperor bed, a whopping 7 feet wide.

Hopefully it’ll be “second time’s a charm” for Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, who remarried ex-husband Gregg Leakes this past weekend at the tony InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta.
The boisterous bride-to-be and reality-tv personality lived up to her diva rep, starting from her bachelorette vaca in Mexico all the way to the bizarre pre-wedding release and confidentiality agreement each of her 400 guests had to sign.
According to RadarOnline.com, rules to attend the southern soiree were as follows:
“[guest]...will not be under the influence of any medication or drugs that might impair my physical or mental ability to engage in the Activity or that might impair my judgment while engaging in the Activity.”
Also expected were folks to be in “…good health and have no medical, physical, or emotional condition that might interfere with my engaging in the Activity.”
Think that's all? There are more demands after the jump!

The whole of Australia is a flutter with Brad Pitt touching down this week to promote his new movie, World War Z. Though this is Brad's first visit down under, he opted to leave Angie at home and take little Pax, possibly to pat some koalas or feed some kangaroos.
While in Sydney, father and son are staying in the lap of luxury at the centrally located, Intercontinental. The hotel is located smack dab in the middle of the city's most popular area, Circular Quay, and no doubt while Dad was busy doing his interviews, Pax and his carer hopped on a ferry to the Taronga Zoo for a quick Aussie animal fix.
Yet as busy as Brad can be on his inaugural visit, he did seem to attract some attention with the fans, and we're not talking about the good kind. One fan was hanging out in the basement parking garage waiting to catch a glimpse of Brad and, maybe get an autograph. After the fan approached Brad and Pax, the star's bodyguards quickly stepped in and tackled the man. Eventually, the police came to issue a 'move-on order' (the Aussie equivalent to a slap on the wrist) to the fan and the boys were off to their yacht cruise around the iconic harbor.

Last month, the 500-room Radisson Blu Mall of America became the second Radisson Blu to open in the US (after Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago). But one thing that sets this place apart from Chicago (and all other subsequent Rad Blus) is that it directly connects to the Mall of America, with its 530 shops, 5 major department stores, multiple food courts, indoor theme park, and 14-screen movie theater. If they want, hotel guests can even arrange for a personal shopper and bag pick-up to maximize the experience. Rates from $174/night.

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) sold the luxurious, 447-room InterContinental London Park Lane to an affiliate of Constellation Hotels last week for about $460 million, building upon a fire sale that's been going on for the past decade. Since 2003, IHG has sold 191 hotels, at a rate of about 19 hotels a year, for a $6.1 billion profit.
They made a pretty penny on the Park Lane property, too, flipping it for 62% more than its December 2012 book value, by selling it to a Middle Eastern private investment group, and continuing a trend of Middle Eastern investment in London.
Recently, Qatar purchased Harrods department store and helped to finance the construction of the Shard skyscraper.
IHG says the profits will be used for "general corporate purposes," which we figure will include champagne parties, backstage passes, and pillow fights involving supermodels. Seriously though, we see big numbers thrown around all the time, so we're always more focused on the practical questions, like, will anything change as far as the consumer is concerned?
