There's Plenty of Room in Manhattan For the Fourth of July

July 1, 2009 at 5:51 PM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

If you're up in the Northeast and you're still thinking about a quickie vacay for the Fourth, we've got pretty good news for you: there's plenty of room at the inn. Or, like, all the inns. And they're pretty decently cheap, too.

Gild Hall (though they charge egregious amounts of money for lame Internet connections) is right down by the seaport — and since you shouldn't be working on a holiday weekend anyway, you shouldn't need the WiFi. A quick look on Quikbook shows that it's going for $136 a night (which is not bad) if you book the nights of the 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Meanwhile, if you're down for being one of the first folks to stay in The MAve, you can book the 3rd, 4th and 5th and get your third night free — which averages out to about $133 a night.

$127 is the going rate on QB for The Ace (perf for you and a pal if you want to do a bunk room with two twins), and hey, what the heck, there's room at The Jane for $89 a night.

Can't Get Stateside For Independence Day? Just Hit The Stafford

It’s a little-admitted fact that most non-Yanks secretly want to be Yanks. But guys, it’s time to come out of the closet. Especially if you’re in London: the Obamas have been assiduous in their visits to us, the rising pound is bringing back our love for America, and the 4th of July is nearly here.

But if you have neither time, money, nor inclination to head Stateside for the celebrations, you could head for Mayfair instead, where the usually-genteel Stafford is shedding its stiff upper lip and going American for the day.

Mainly foodwise, though: they’ll be laying on an all day Independence Day menu with burgers, hot dogs, cheesecake and BBQ chicken. And it’s not only nosh; the appropriately named American Bar will be shaking up such concoctions as Patriotinis and Fourth of July Fizzes. Who cares about the lack of fireworks? Just make sure you’re wearing your jackets, guys – it’s still England, after all.

Book This Weekend to Score a Free Night at Parrot Cay on July 4th

If you're anything like us, you have sorta a hard time keeping up with all these temporary, one-day-only type sales that are all over the hotel world these days. It's not that we're not ready for them when they come, it's just that — well, we hear about them and then we sort of forget to sit down and book them during the designated time window, you know? You totally know.

So here's one that might interest you 'cause it's already kicked off: this weekend only, (between May 21st and 26th), if you book a room at Parrot Cay for July 4th weekend — that's July 2nd-7th — you can stay three nights for the price of two. Holla.

If you're not familiar: Parrot Cay is COMO resort that just happens to be a 1000-acre private island in the Turks and Caicos (oh, you know, no big deal) with luxe accomodations, plenty of spa offerings and free WiFi if you feel like working.

Again, you can book now (or at least look now), but make sure you've got your rezzie confirmed by May 26th — that's Tuesday. We just checked out the offer and it looks like rooms are available starting at $460.00 per night. Go here to lock it down.
