The First Ever U.S. Legoland Hotel Will Open on April 5

One hotel goes off the list and another one comes on!
Ahoy there, matey's! North America's first Legoland Hotel has just pegged its stateside opening for April 5 at the entrance to the Legoland theme park in Carlsbad, California.
Newly released images snapped by Reuters show the lobby of the world's third Lego hotel (there's one in the UK and Denmark) will be staffed by life-sized, Lego-built employees including bell hops and a dragon.

How To Score A Free Hotel Room From A TV Producer

Tired of booking overpriced rooms in crowded cities? Want to an escape for the whole family? Here's one way to ensure a comped hotel stay.
Hollywood Reporter pointed out last week that the Seattle-based family of Amanda Knox, the American exchange student held in Italian custody for four years for the murder of her roommate, was doing a great job of getting free hotel stays from a number of American TV producers. All of whom, of course, were hungry for their own exclusive interview with Knox. But nonetheless. A free hotel room in Perugia? Sounds pretty good to us. If only there was a way to avoid the whole incarcerated-family-member snag. Other than that, that's a real winning scheme.

A 'Never-Ending' Story For Kids In the Poconos

In the era of complimentary iPads and electronic check-ins, it is the job of certain people to ensure that kids—as well as adults—benefit from all the newfangled gadgetry adorning hotels. And over in the Pocono Mountains, PA, Great Wolf Lodge has unveiled a new interactive video game called Great Wolf Story Explorers, in which the kids themselves become the main characters of the story.
Here's how it works: the little tykes are first paired off with an RFID-tagged stuffed animal. Interestingly, this was the same technology used by hotels to track stolen linens. But instead of catching criminals, the RFID wristbands here "unlock" each successive part of the interactive story. As they travel from one video screen to the next, the young "explorers" are slowly written into the story they are being told. Neat-o!

What's Inside The New 'Kids Kit' from Claridge's in London

Precocious and perennial hotel guest Eloise never went to London but if she did, we know exactly where she would stay--Claridge's. Not only is the tea service exciting and the suites oh so fashionable but the hotel now offers its littlest guests The Claridge's Kids Kit, a signature tote bag full of fun toys and games to play with during their stay. No Nanny required!
Inside the kit is a card game called "I Insist!"; a fact-teller that when folded and peeled back reveals facts about the hotel ("The number of cups of tea served in the afternoon total up to around a staggering 164,250 per year!"); a "Dress Me Up" paper doll and a couple of Magic Flyer butterflies that fly when their wings have been wound up.
The tote also gives kids (and aspiring hotelier adults too?) a chance to "Make Your Own Hotel" with a version of Claridge's that needs some life breathed into it--in the form of stickers of course.
