A New Low? Vikram Chatwal Gets Kicked Out Of His Own Hotel

The downstairs restaurant at Dream Downtown hasn't exactly had an easy run. First, it opened as the "theatrical dining" concept Romera, by neurologist-turned-chef Miguel Sanchez Romera. The NY Times panned it. Then, earlier this year, a BondSt sushi spin-off opened in the form of Japanese-French fusion joint Cherry.
And now, the NY Post reports that, after an "altercation" inside Cherry, hotelier Vikram Chatwal was thrown out of his own hotel. Yikes.

Madonna's Brother, The Next Hot Hotelier?

Madonna's brother, Christopher Ciccone, has literally written the book on becoming famous by association. And now that hype for his 2008 memoir has died down, he's moved onto the next logical step: shoes.
The Ciccone Collection is a Georgia O'Keeffe-inspired footwear line for men, women and children that debuted at London Fashion Week. There are rain boots, wingtips and sneakers. Ian Schrager's Thoughts on Hotels, Design, Life and Bill Marriott

Ultra-tan hotelier Ian Schrager showed up in another for-all-you-executives interview, this time with Portfolio rather than Fortune. What's newly on the mind of the Schrager?
· He's not worried about working with 75-year-old teetotaler Bill Marriott: "I mean, we're complementary, our DNA is alike. We're both competitive and in pursuit of excellence," Ian says.
· He doesn't give too much thought to the brawls at the Gramercy Park Hotel: "The kind of brouhaha that happened--which is really much ado about nothing--I don't think it hurts...I would rather it didn't appear [in Page Six]."
· Even he thinks Miami Hotels are overpriced: "We're working on a hotel in Miami Beach right now, which would be a cheap chic version of what we've done down there before. Because, I think, while everyone is banging their heads against high rates down there at Miami Beach, we've sort of forgotten the market that it got started with."
