We're not gonna hate on the JW Marriott Starr Pass in Tuscon for spending a quarter-mill on holiday decorations (you cannot put a price on holiday cheer, people), so let's focus on the awesomeness that is the resort's winter celebration: there will be snow! Well, there will be ice, at least, and it will be blasted all over Starr Circle Hill at the resort’s main entrance so you can sled! Sledding in Arizona!
By December 6th, the resort will be ready for the season with a bevy of over-the-top holiday decorations: 50 tons of ice (made of reclaimed water — remember, this is exciting cause it's Arizona), a 30-foot Christmas tree, sledding, carriage rides, carolers, and hot chocolate. And on December 19th, Santa and his elves will be rollin' in via helicopter to spend a couple days taking photos with the kiddie guests.

Hyatt's 12-Day Sale Offers 21 Percent Off Room Rates

Last week, Park Hyatt Hotels announced a 21 percent discount off room rates at almost all of their hotels and this week we learn the special hotel deal extends to all the other brands under the Hyatt Hotels umbrella as well.
Hyatt Hotels & Resorts is now extending its 21%-off sale to properties worldwide. The sale provides travelers with 21% off at nearly 350 Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites properties around the globe.
Again, the discount is only available at participating hotels for 12 days from Dec. 1 to Dec. 12th. Stays must be made before Feb. 1, 2009. Use offer code LTP107 at www.hyatt.com or by calling 1-800-233-1234. The one catch is that a full, non-refundable prepayment is required at the time of booking. Tuesdays with Arrabelle Cuz It's Free

One Tuesday Night Free in Vail

The new Arrabelle Resort in Vail which just opened last year is offering "Free Tuesdays." Guests booking a minimum of three nights at the resort over a Tuesday will not be charged for the Tuesday part of the stay. The deal is good through the ski season until April 18, 2009. Guests can also find more savings if they book before December 1st.
Additionally, guests looking to experience a ski vacation at the Arrabelle can save even more money this season with the "Baggage Bailout" program, an incentive that gives guests booking four or more nights with four day ski passes a $50 credit each if they book before December 1. The "Baggage Bailout" is offered for up to two people per room and is an attempt to make traveling with ski equipment a bit easier after the new airline checked baggage fees.
From now through December 14th, the hotel has rooms starting at $197 a night for a superior room. Those rates jump up to $330 a night just before Christmas and the holiday season gets insane at $900 a night. So one night free is a nice perk here.

Park Hyatt Hotels have announced a 21 percent discount off nightly room rates at participating hotels--from Colorado to Milan to Buenos Aires.

For some reason, San Francisco hotels are incredibly discounted on Expedia for the first week of December. One deal that stuck out for us? The Fairmont San Francisco which is going for $109 a night. You may recall, we stayed here last December and the room rate was a lot higher at $199 a night.
Yes, the hotel is old and the room decor is reminiscent of grandma and grandpa but we totally dug the attentive service from the hotel's staff. Meanwhile, rates on the hotel's own site were starting at $199.
Just remember, if you want to park your car it will cost you $45. To use the internet, put aside another $13.95 a day.
