We're having a bit of a W Hotels moment these days after posting about their new renovations and their upcoming W Milan Hotel. But there's even more.

We got so excited about the opening of the W Paris Opera which finally opened in February but unfortunately, we haven't made it to the City of Light to check it out for ourselves. However, HotelChatter Flickr Member, Ken Lee, did. Check out his awesome room pics from the hotel below.

Rates for the W Paris are holding steady next weekend at a whopping 628 Euros a night for an eclectic Spectacular room with a king bed. Yeah, take a good look at these photos because that might be as close as you can get to the spot.

What Kind Of Hotel Photographer Are You?

April 5, 2012 at 10:38 AM | by | Comments (0)

Here at HotelChatter we're constantly bombarding you with all sorts of hotel snapshots—from mouth-watering desserts to bodacious toiletries to, yes, tricked-out hotel toilets. What can we say? We love to whet your appetite for full-on hotel frivolity geekery.

But we know we're not the only ones who like to whip out the old Nikon the minute we step into the room. In fact, our popular Flickr Pool has shown you all to be perfectly capable hotel chroniclers too.

So we want to know: when you show up at a new hotel, what is the first thing you like to take pictures of? Is it the lobby? The view from your window? The elevator doors?

So Much for Separation of Church and Hotel at The Westin Sendai

Where: Sendai, Japan
March 23, 2012 at 4:49 PM | by | Comments (0)

Flipping through our HotelChatter Flickr Pool today we found this photo from super user Ken Lee of the church at the Westin Sendai in Japan. Yes, a church!

The all white church, or rather chapel, is used most during weddings but we're guessing if you needed a moment to talk to the man upstairs during your hotel stay, you could pop in for a quickie prayer session too.

Rates at the Westin in Japan's "City of Trees" start at around $229 a night.

March 16, 2012 at 1:20 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you haven't looked at the HotelChatter Flickr Pool in quite some time, we strongly suggest you give it a look-see. It turns out our members are real jet-setters, staying in hotels around the world, some of which we can only dream of one day visiting. Thus we decided to ask a few "super-users" to tell us their Five Favorite Hotels and of course, share their glorious hotel snapshots with us too. Next up, is Flickr member UggBoy.

W Hotels Has Got Its Mojo Back with the W Taipei's Rooftop Pool

When the W Taipei opened last month, we were relieved to see the guestrooms looked far better than the W London. And now we're heaving another sigh of relief over the hotel's pool scene.

HotelChatter Flickr member Ken Lee dropped in this shot of the rooftop pool and it looks just like what we'd expect from a W hotel. Lately, W Hotels has seem to lost some of their design libido, perhaps a side effect of over-expansion into some questionable markets. But the W Taipei pool has us ready to strip down, particularly those lounge chairs siting in a few inches of water.

Lily Allen Got Engaged at Amankila, Which Looks Like This

December 28, 2010 at 12:32 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's the season of celebrity engagements! While most of us would be content with an intimate proposal in a sentimental location and a carat or two, celebrities go all out with their engagements, often popping the question with a monster five or six carat ring while on vacation at some to-die-for luxury resort.

After word came yesterday that Natalie Portman and LeAnn Rimes said "yes" to their lovers, we found out that pop singer Lily Allen also got engaged to her boyfriend, Sam Cooper, at the Amankila Resort in Bali from the luxe Aman Resorts.

And coincidentally, a HotelChatter Flickr Pool member, had just dropped these gorgey photos of the resort in our Flickr pool.

Breaking News: Another Thompson Hotel in New York Gives a Guest a Quiet Night's Sleep

Where: 15 Gold Street [map], New York, NY, United States
April 2, 2010 at 1:27 PM | by | Comment (1)

Sorry, we're just not used to this. We actually can't even fathom this right now but on the heels of our Hotel Spy telling us that the Thompson LES gave her an uninterrupted night's sleep we find that in our HotelChatter Flickr Pool, a member has given us this review of Gild Hall:

I actually really liked the hotel as it was extremely quiet for NYC and the beds were great. The one downside was the room/bathroom size, which was a bit smallish.

Could it be that Thompson Hotels are growing up? When we stayed at 60 Thompson last May we were peeved by the bumping noise from the ThomBar but at the Hollywood Roosevelt the other night, we had no disturbances. Granted it was a Tuesday night and Teddy's was closed, but still, this isn't what we expect from Thompson. Not that we're complaining or anything!

What about you--have you had a shockingly quiet stay at a Thompson Hotel recently? Tell us about it.

A Tale of Two Hotels at the Le Meridien Frankfurt

Dipping into the HotelChatter Flickr Pool today we found this shot of the Le Meridiend Parkhotel Frankfurt which we admit caught our eye because of the interesting, non-fugly carpeting. But also a bonus was this review from Flickr member Spencer D Allen who writes:

Very artsy hotel, very unique. There are 2 towers, one with very modern (almost W hotel style) decor, the other side with a much more sophistocated [sic]and almost old world luxury. this room is from the old world tower.

The location is very unique, right near the red light district.... it's not for kids. It definitely proves the stereotype of Frankfurt being boring very, very wrong.

We're intrigued already. And we have to say that room is considered part of the "old world tower" but it looks a lot newer than some new hotels we've seen lately. Of course, there could always be some clunky armoire hiding a chunky TV that we just can't see in this shot.

Considering the Le Meridien for your next trip to the exotic Frankfurt? Room rates start at 145 Euros for the hotel's historic wing. The modern design rooms are bumped up to 225 Euros. Check those rooms out here.

Le Meridien Munich is a 'Swank Ass' Hotel

We always love when people give the HotelChatter Flickr Pool some love with their hotel snapshots and this one from member SpencerDAllen is helping to make our Thursday morning bright.

This was taken at the The Le Meridien Hotel in Munich and it caught our eye because the room looks quite pretty and modern, not really what we expect from the Le Meridien brand. Yes, the brand's been trying to upgrade its look (how about all that pink at Le Meridien Dallas?) but rooms like this still take us by surprise.

Even better, this photos looks so close to what you see in the room photo on the hotel's website. We approve! Or in our Flickr's members words, this place is a "swank ass hotel."

The hotel is located right across from the city's main train station, the Hauptbahnhof and rooms are currently going for 131 Euros a night.

New and Neat Melia Hotel Düsseldorf Open Now

Site Where: Inselstrasse 2, Düsseldorf, Germany, 40479
November 5, 2009 at 2:19 PM | by | Comments (0)

Popped into our Hotelchatter Flickr Pool recently (thanks, jochenb) were some pics of a new hotel in the Sol Melia Hotel group: the Melia Hotel Düsseldorf, Germany. It's just opened up last month and is certainly lookin' neat and tidy, if the photos are anything to go by.

More info about the new Melia: it's right in the center of Düsseldorf, and it's opposite the Hofgarten, famous for being the oldest public park in the whole of Germany. And it's close to shopping and sightseeing districts, and most conveniently, just a ten-minute drive from the airport.

The Düsseldorf Melia has some opening offer rates starting with their basic double room at €99 ($145) or €139 ($205) with breakfast – that does sound like a lot more for a morning meal, but German breakfasts can be quite lavish affairs (we're not guaranteeing anything here though).

Bulgari Resort in Bali Not Exactly the 'Pinnacle of Modern Luxury'

Every so often we feature a hotel review from one of our readers that we feel should be shared with the rest of you dear hotel guests. These reviews are highlighted because they are timely, about cool hotels in cool places and are relatively level-headed. Think you can submit one just like this? Send it in.

We fished this snapshot out of the HotelChatter Flickr Pool and, upon first glance, this photo of an Ocean Cliff Villa at the Bulgari Resort Bali looks gorgeous, no? From the looks of this photo, we'd be down for staying here.

But, um, reader who submitted the shot — hotel maven lyh1 — sheds a little bit of light on fashion house Bulgari's Bali property — and we were let in on a secret: it may not be as awesome as we think it is.
