Boozy B&B’s: Sleeping it Off in France’s Loire Valley at the Suites Beranger

On our latest Boozy B&B adventure, we trekked out to France’s fabled Loire Valley and visited a place called Suites Beranger in the medieval city of Tours.
Forget taking day-long bus tours of the chateaux with hordes of tourists. Instead, it’s easy and relatively inexpensive (about $60 each way) to hop aboard France’s high-speed TGV trains and make the 75-minute journey from Gare Montparnasse in Paris to the city of Tours, which is famous for its, well, towers.
The Suites Beranger is housed in an 1860 mansion that has been beautifully restored by the married couple who own it and act as hosts. It fronts one of Tours’ main roads--a 10-minute walk from the train station, or two minutes in a taxi.

While Sheraton Partners Up with Wine Spectator, Four Points Remains the Place for BestBrews

If you're staying at a Sheraton Hotel this summer, expect to find a new sort of happy hour in their lobbies.
USA Today reports that Sheraton has partnered up with Wine Spectator magazine to create a Social Hour where guests can sample premium wines with high grades from Wine Spectator. Beyond wine-tasting (sorry, no full free glasses will be poured), Sheraton will also unveil a new menu, Sheraton Selects, that pairs food with certain wines.
The Social Hour program is set to go worldwide with Sheraton Hotels in Phoenix, Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago kicking it off next week. The rest of Sheratons should follow suit by June 1.
Wine is fine but if you're more into the brewskies then you should try out Sheraton's fun younger sibling, Four Points By Sheraton, the brand that infamously hired a CBO--Chief Beer Officer to oversee their BestBrews program which serves up locally brewed beer at participating Four Points hotels.

It's Hard Work Being An Omni Executive Chef
Where: United States

It was hardly punishment for the 45 executive chefs who got to enjoy a ten-day tour last month throughout French vineyards, farms and restaurants. Their parent company, Omni Hotels had been so pleased with the success of 2008's similar "Flavors of France" campaign—which followed a separate voyage to Spain in 2006—that they wanted to give their chefs a refresher on the basics. You know: champagne making, grape harvests in Bordeaux, mustard preparation, and Palais des Thés tea training.
The usual stuff.
But it is the guests of Omni who will be the ones benefitting from the chefs' newfound inspiration. For the seventh installment of 'Flavors of France,' new menus are already being rolled out at the various hotels, featuring French cuisine and fine wines—so you can reap the rewards of their culinary escapade (and not have to worry about trekking through caves or trudging through vineyards). Ready for some Poêlées de Saint-Jacques à la Provencale? We thought so.

Montage Laguna Beach Loves Its Wine

Most people come to the ritzy Montage Laguna Beach to take advantage of its incomparable location along the stunning SoCal coast. During a recent visit, though, we actually came to experience the resort’s comprehensive wine program. Not only does it have 7 sommeliers on staff among its three restaurants managing a list of over 45,000 bottles of 2,100 wines, but it also holds a weekly wine-tasting for guests and locals called the Artistry of Wine series.

It's Wine All the Time at Kimpton and Loews This Holiday Season

Let's pop the Kimpton Bubbly! Kimpton Hotels are getting into the holiday spirit with their own sparkling wine, Kimpton Cuvée, a custom Blanc de Noirs created by a collection of Kimpton sommeliers in partnership with Gloria Ferrer Caves.
It is a pale pink blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which demonstrates fruit flavors of strawberries and black cherries with lively, lush bubbles and a crisp, delicate finish.
Kimpton Cuvée is currently available by the glass or bottle at the 54 Kimpton restaurants and lounges nationwide. And some Kimpton hotel restaurants are even offering a "Fries & a Flute" special to celebrate the wine's debut. Here are some of the restaurants participating and what they are offering:
