Hotel Wedding Crashers: Bridezilla Gets Violent at the Hilton Treetops

Site Where: 161 Springfield Road, Aberdeen, United Kingdom, AB15 7AQ

An unbelievably true story of a crazy bride...

During her wedding reception at the Hilton Treetops in Aberdeen, a bridezilla got a little peeved about something and took her brand new hubby upstairs to argue. During the fight, she, um, beat him over the head with her shoe and apparently threw a lamp at him and ripped some wires from the wall in a fit of rage.

The police were called to the scene after Mr. Bridezilla returned to the reception clutching a blood-stained towel to his head. He was taken to the hospital and treated for head wounds and the bride herself was ordered to pay a fine and compensate the hotel for the damages.

Never fear, there is a fairy-tale ending...the couple is still together. However, the hotel might want to take the money and do some sprucing up elsewhere in the hotel.

This past weekend we were summoned to South Padre Island, a popular Spring Break spot for college kids, for the wedding of (ironically) an old college roommate.

South Padre Island is a place that we always wanted to visit when we were 21 but eight years later, let's just say the attraction has worn off considerably.

Still out of love for our dear friend, we tripped on down to this Texas vacation isle and spent a night at the Radisson.

Hotel Wedding Crashers: Celeb Round-Up

July 3, 2007 at 9:05 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Here's hoping this year's summer celebrity weddings fare better than Pam Anderson and Kid Rock's marriage.

The celebrity-obsessed culture that we live in today (hey, we admit to being part of it too) dictates that we must do a post on celebrity weddings. Some of the ones we talk about after the jump have happened and some are happening soon, giving you real wedding crashers an early start.

First comes love, then comes marriage. In between, could there be a destination engagement in the offing for some high-spirited couples? An increasing number of hotels and resorts are, yuck, yuck, proposing just that.

Several weeks ago, we described the engagement package at The James Hotel Chicago. Today, as we carouse into one of the coolest wedding dates in recent memory (07-07-07; advance congrats to Eva Longoria and Tony Parker and all the other million couples who decided to get married on this day), we bring you an engagement package from Frenchman's Reef and Morning Start Marriott Beach Resort.

A while back we took a look at the Glynn House Inn in New Hampshire and deemed it a perfect place for a romantic getaway.

However, thanks to a recent commenter, it is not a perfect place for a wedding.

Since summertime, and more specifically the month of June, is the most popular time for weddings, we are kicking off our Hotel Wedding Crashers feature today. And since we ourselves have a record number of weddings to attend this summer, which all happen to be destination weddings, we thought we could get out our wedding travel frustrations in this feature.

So throughout the summer, we will be featuring all types of hotel wedding stories from packages to honeymoon suites to hotel wedding heaven and hell.

Whether you are getting married, planning your wedding, or just taking advantage of someone's open bar reception, we want to hear your hotel wedding tips/stories/frustrations.

Send your hotel wedding stories and questions here.

If we had to get married all over again--not that we would, our wedding day was the best day of our lives but planning it was the worst time of our lives--we would hit up the wedding chapel at the Wynn Las Vegas. Oh yeah, and we would need to have some serious high-roller money to do this too.

While we personally have never stayed in a Wynn hotel room (HotelChatter has), we've spent a lot time there and say what you want about the interior (parasols, gaudy floral prints, Purple People Eaters) but the wedding chapel looks damn good.

[Ed. Note: Hotel Maven Jenna recently hit up the swanky Pierre Hotel in Manhattan as an undercover "bride". Enjoy.]

Clad in a classic little black dress and a pearl necklace, I waited alone in the extravagant lobby of New York City's Pierre Hotel for my 3:00 appointment. Two dapper-looking men approached me, each one sporting that sort of unsettling smile last seen on that guy at the bar who is creepily confident that he's about to get lucky. As I began explaining why my fiancée couldn't join me that afternoon--he works on Wall Street, you know-- I noticed the younger of the two men glance down at my left hand. I really hope he didn't notice that my $4.00 faux engagement ring was turning my finger green.

Our second story in this series is actually our experience last weekend in Sonoma wine country in California, a very popular place for San Francisco-based couples to get married. This wedding took place in Glen Ellen which is about 10 minutes away from Sonoma proper at the Beltane Ranch. The place really doesn't do much except host weddings and people who are wine-tasting in the area since Beltane doesn't have any vineyards of its own. It does however have two horses that roam the front of the property looking extremely thirsty due to the dry and hot daytime weather.

To kick off the Hotel Weddings feature, we're starting slow with a Hotel Wedding Package from the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego. Having just completed a $52 million renovation and restoration, this Luxury Collection Hotel from Starwood is eager to get some weddings going.
