Williamsburg as Wallpaper at The Wythe Hotel
What's the one thing Brooklyn's new Wythe Hotel loves more than anything? The answer, dear friends, is Brooklyn. The Wythe Hotel is more than proud of its location in the Williamsburg section of town, but nearly turns itself into a shrine to all things Williasmburger, from the art on the walls to the wood tables in the hotel's Reynard's restaurant, everything possible is made by Brooklynites to reflect the spirit of the borough.
Take for instance, the wallpaper found in the guestrooms. Walk into your home for the night and notice the toile design...then get up closer to see that the toile actually depicts little street scenes of Williamsburg, from the street signs to the architecture of the Greek Orthodox church on the next block.
And though this is a custom Dan Funderburgh design for The Wythe, Flavor Paper has made it (and the 3 other Wythe Hotel wallpaper patterns) available in their online shop.

The 25hours didn't win Travel + Leisure's 2012 hotel design awards for nothing. The place is an homage to the seafaring history (and the current hip culture that adores it) of Hamburg, Germany. Every little detail is considered, and twisted to conform to the hotel's theme, that of a international maritime trading post. At breakfast, your chair may actually be a pile of rugs. Need a meeting room? It's inside a repurposed Hapag-Lloyd shipping container.

Hotel wallpaper: underused but always appreciated when it does make an appearance. As long as it’s funky wallpaper, not gross stuff like you’d find in your nan’s back room.
One of our lasting memories of the rooms at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is opening the cupboards and seeing the weird faces staring out at us. So we had a blast from the past when we were in Italy the other week, opened up a copy of Grazia and came face to face with the faces again.

Now, however, we wanted to tell you about the big redecoration that’s going on at Saint James Paris, a tiny gem of a boutique hotel in Paris’s understated yet elegant 16th arrondisement that’s been getting a fabulous facelift.

A Monkey Wins an Oscar and Other Adventures in Hotel Wallpaper
We've gotten over our obsession with the London West Hollywood's bulldog but now we're totally into the monkeys swinging on the walls. Yes, monkeys swinging on the walls...er actually, the wallpaper.
When we had lunch at the Boxwood Cafe last November, after Gordon Ramsay handed over culinary but not creative control to the hotel, we noticed the monkeys on our way out. And they are plastered all over the walls on this gorgeous-looking wallpaper, doing all sorts of monkey things like holding utensils, smoking cigars, applying make-up and carrying an Oscar statue. You know, monkey things.
