It's Guess the Hotel revealed!

Were you able to figure anything out from the video we posted on Friday? Two people called out The Chatwal, which was correct! We were there last week, in the Producer's Suite on the tenth floor, to watch a new promotional video by Luxury Collection called HERE.

If you're at all restless like us, you might wind up booking an impromptu trip to Vermont, Scottsdale and/or Hawaii after you watch it. The 15-minute film is set at Equinox Resort & Spa, The Phoenician and The Royal Hawaiian, Waikiki successively, and each hotel comes off looking more idyllic than the next.

Have A Sleepover, Every Week For A Year, At Affinia Manhattan

Affinia lovers, get out your checkbooks. After debuting the new look last summer, Affinia Manhattan is now putting one of its pretty, flower-themed rooms up for auction. But rather than long weekend-ers or tourists, the deal is actually aimed at business travelers and commuters, who visit the city on a frequent basis.

Every Sunday night for a year, the auction winner can come home to a 1-bedroom suite inside the Affinia Manhattan. And every week, it will be exactly the same (you can even leave your stuff in the closets!).

Which is why, for a wide-eyed tourist hungry to see all the sights, this situation wouldn't be that ideal. But for tireless business travelers, who benefit from consistency and routine (and only really want a quiet place to play with their stuffed animals), this could be a match made in heaven. As long as you're willing to duke it out on the auction block, that is.

When You're Britney Spears, You Don't Just Get Upgraded, You Get 'Mega Suite' Upgraded

For most people, an engagement party involves a little champagne, some friends, and a chance for the bride-to-be to show off her ring. Britney Spears is not most people. Well, we knew that already, but we sure got a chuckle out of seeing these photos released of the betrothal festivities that went down this past weekend at Planet Hollywood in Vegas.

Celebrating first at the resort's Strip House Steakhouse, a very visible "ph" emblem was positioned on top of the cake so it would show up in every photo. We doubt the couple ever actually sat down to taste the cake, but it's the thought publicity that counts.

Also on the agenda? A night at one of the resort's 3,100-square-foot, Jonathan Adler-designed "mega suites" (which we couldn't even find on the website, but apparently include a Murano glass chandelier, living room, dining room, and a jacuzzi). Then again, let's face it: she wasn't exactly about to get stuck with a Spaceballs-themed room, now was she?

The Renaissance Times Square Was So Scary, Blake Lively's Face Froze

Don't be scared, Blake, it's just make believe!

OK, we'll be honest. When we first saw this photo, and read the caption about a special Halloween suite at the Renaissance Times Square being decorated by Madame Tussauds, we thought they were referring to a wax sculpture of Ms. Lively. Sorry, Blake! Your features just looked so....erm, lively lifeless.

Blake Lively stopped by last week for the debut of the hotel's "Dare To Check-In" Halloween suite. And since she is on the rebound from her short-lived relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, Renaissance made sure there were plenty of toys to keep her distracted. Like tarot cards. Obviously, when you've just had your heart broken on the national news, a fortune teller is exactly the person you want to speak to.

Guess The Creepy Hotel Vase: Revealed!

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 25 East 77th St. [map], New York, NY, United States, 10021

On Friday, we had you guessing which hotel was giving guests the pre-Halloween heebie-jeebies with this crazy-lookin vase. Interestingly, several people guessed the Mondrian South Beach (for obvious reasons), but the correct hotel is actually in a completely separate state!

However, those who pointed out that this face is reminiscent of the wallpaper found inside closets at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas were definitely onto something. The image is actually a motif of the acclaimed Milanese design shop Fornasetti, whose founder, Piero Fornasetti, came across a photo of opera singer Lina Cavalieri in a 19th century French magazine, and decided there and then that she would become his "muse." This explains why the above vase would strike anyone who has seen a Fornasetti rug or piece of furniture before.

But the hotel? Read on below to find out more!

The Gilded Lounge Suite

Last time we checked in on the Paris scene, the theatrical Maison Champs-Elysées was undergoing renovations to add couture rooms. Now, the hotel is ready.

There are 40 “boutique” rooms, ranging from superior (standard) rooms to junior suites, and 17 rooms in the “couture collection”, going from a deluxe couture rooms, through duplex junior couture suites, to four named suites: the Lost Mouldings, White Cover, Gilded Lounge and Curiosity Case.

What Would Jimi Think of The Cumberland's New Thanatouristic Hendrix Suite?

Tasteful

The new Jimi Hendrix suite at the Cumberland Hotel sounds nice, doesn’t it? And it’s a good time to unveil it, with the 40th anniversary of his death, right?

Erm, maybe not, as our favorite mailout Popbitch pointed out this morning. Given that Hendrix died in a hotel (the Samarkand, not the Cumberland – he just used to live in the Cumberland) – it’s actually a little bit distasteful, no?

Fort Lauderdale's Doubletree Suites Wants To Know If You're 'Big Or Little'

Here’s a hotel service story we’re still scratching our heads about. We recently booked a suite at the Gallery One Doubletree Suites in Fort Lauderdale. We were in town for a wedding, sharing a room with friends, so requested a suite with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa bed. Easy peasy. Things only got weird when the front-desk clerk asked us if our fellow guests were “big or little.” Huh?

Even though it was after 3 p.m., our room wasn’t ready, so the clerk was trying to find us an alternative. As he typed away and made faces at his computer screen, our conversation went a little like this:

Inside The Madison Suite at The Omni Berkshire Place NYC

Where: 21 East 52nd Street [map], New York, ny, United States, 10022
December 21, 2009 at 1:19 PM | by | Comments (0)

Perhaps now known as the hotel where Sarah Palin checked in as "Tina" before making her campaign-time appearance on SNL, Manhattan's Omni Berkshire Place is a solid Midtown offering in an otherwise oversaturated market. It also happens to be one of our favorite places to sit away from the holiday shopping crowds, grab a bite and access their free WiFi, but last week we were treated to a tour of the hotel's Madison Suite—room 1612.

It's not the major Rodgers & Hammerstein Suite because someone was staying there and we wouldn't want to bother them, but it is 781-square feet overlooking 52nd Street and Madison Avenue. And in a town where it's far too easy to find a hotel that calls itself trendy, it's getting more difficult to find a classic and comfortable, not astronomically priced hotel like the Omni Berkshire. Book 21 days in advance or more, and this suite can be yours from $433, half the price of the tiniest closest at places like The Pierre and The Mark.

On Monday, we asked to hear from our readers about their experiences ”Adventuring Into Aloft”. Based on some of the responses we got, we thought that it might be equally productive to ask if any of you have tried out a Cambria Suites lately. Speaking of which, has anyone even heard of Cambria Suites?

Pod Hotel's $199 Townhouse Suites Are Decidedly Un-Podlike

When we went inside NYC's Pod Hotel, we opened the door to our bunk room and were shocked at its miniscule size. Even for $169 a night in a prime Big Apple location, we were a bit let down — and the bed was, as we said, "quite frankly, hideous. Thin, hard and narrow -- that's what we'd like to sculpt ourselves into if we had the dedication to go to a gym. That's not what we like in a bed." Still, we'd be up for a lil' Podding if we were traveling by ourselves and were down for spending zero time in our room and were willing to deal with the bunk bed.

But! Now the Pod Hotel has introduced a cheap, large-ish and appealing option for families (or groups of 3-4) with the completion of their new Townhouse Suites.

Spend a Red Hot Night with Ronald Reagan

After we did our story yesterday on the Westlake Village Inn, we got another tip about the place and it involves Ronald Reagan. We just can't turn that down.

With the political season just getting started or if you're having a serious case of 80s nostalgia, you can get yourself in the mood by spending a night in Westlake Village Inn's official Ronald Reagan Suite.

It seems that some people are still really into ol' Ronald. In 2000, The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation chose this Westlake (right by the outlet center!) master suite as the official red throwback room, featuring tons of memorabilia from the Reagan era, some portraits of the couple and even an "official jar" of Presidential jelly beans.

You too can get in touch with your inner Reagen-lovin' self by booking the Inn's Presidential Package ($360) which includes one night in the suite complete wih a VIP tour of the Reagan Presidential Library, a copy of The Reagan Diaries, and VIP welcome amenities (lemonade, chocolate, and flowers).

And yes, your very own Official Jar of Presidential Jellybellies is included.
