Did you work today? We know a few lucky firms that had off today to celebrate all things Presidential. We're quite jealous. Last time we had this day off, we we wore tube socks, a bubble coat and a hoodie…sigh. Anyway, while those folks are out there purchasing appliances and stimulating the economy, we'll stimulate your hotel lust.
Yes, we've picked *one* Presidential Suite to highlight on this day of days. One sweet suite with its over-the-top opulence.
We picked the tony St. Regis Hotel in New York. The 3,000 square foot, three-bedroom palatial Presidential Suite, is a "Grand New York" apartment that's as swank as they come, but not obnoxious, given the hotel's historical beginnings. The large marble foyer leads to a formal dining room that winds into an decadent living room. There's also a yummy walnut-paneled library, and four bathrooms that we'd make sure we used each one, just for GP. And the views are tremendous--Central Park and Fifth Avenue. There is a full-kitchen, but it has a separate entrance-natch.

We get it, celebrities love to show off and get the cream of the crop when they travel by booking the suites of the world's best hotels. Melbourne's The Como is no different when it comes to attracting the glamour of stars from the silver screen to the soccer field to the stage.
The Como, in one of Melbourne's most prestigious areas, South Yarra, has made a name for itself for the past 22 years by consistently offering high-end accommodations and impeccable service. Now they've revamped three super luxurious suites, that's seen the likes of David Beckham, Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton.
The recently rebranded M Gallery Hotel offers plenty of artist designed rooms with all the bells and whistles, but these suites are truly where it's at.

Earlier this week we paid a visit to check out the newest addition to The Dorchester London's accommodations: 22 suites redesigned by Alexandra Champalimaud. Lady Gaga unfortunately wasn’t around to offer us a free hotel room, but we did pass Sir Anthony Hopkins in the lobby, which was good enough for us.
This is the flagship of the eponymous Dorchester Collection, which includes sister hotels such as the tony Plaza Athénée in Paris and Hotel Bel Air in Los Angeles. So, we knew these suites had to be something to behold.
Fashion-minded hotel guests always find good reason to stay at one of Chicago’s Michigan Avenue hotels for proximity to the city’s best shopping. Among these hotels and mere blocks from boutique-laden Oak Street, Park Hyatt Chicago has now upped the ante with a whole new reason for haute couture travel: the new Lake Suite Bottega Veneta.
Designed in partnership with the world-famous Italian design house, which just so happens to house a boutique on the ground floor of the hotel, this new suite, from what we can tell, is a beautiful, high-style urban retreat.
Location and size are worth a mention. The suite spans 1,400 square feet on the hotel’s 17th floor, with views of Michigan Avenue, the Old Water Tower, and, of course, Lake Michigan. But what makes it really stand out are the details and design—the Bottega Veneta, if you will. Known for its high-end leather goods, Bottega has made its mark here not only with furnishings but with fabrics, textures, curves and lines.

Welcome to another hotel dispatch from our special contributor, The Smooth Operator. We can't divulge his identity but we can tell you he spends about 70 percent of his time on the road, staying in all the hot hotels and checking out their restaurants and bars to see if the social scene and rooms are up to snuff. If you're deciding whether or not to take a chance on that hip boutique hotel in the city, read The Smooth Operator for his opinion first. (Or send us an email and we'll have him answer it for you!)
From The Smooth Operator: I have a list I keep in my notes section of my Blackberry keeping track of rooms I've especially liked so I can book them on return trips. They include little tips that I'd like to share with you in case you're ever staying at these places, too.
Hudson Hotel, NY (Suite 877)
The Hudson is undergoing a room-by room-reno. Hopefully, the Philippe Starck dream decor will remain in tact as best as possible. Their new rooms(make sure you ask for one in advance of your stay so you're not stuck in the old wings) have new furniture, updated wood headboards, and many with new bathroom fixtures. The custom furniture fits the tight rooms very well. Be kind to the front desk manager and you may be in for a great upgrade. It helps to say 'please'.
When we wrote about high tea at Raffles Singapore a few weeks ago, we had no idea that the hotel was preparing to receive royalty! Apparently, while we were lusting over finger sandwiches and French champagne, the ritzy hotel was getting their best room ready for Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge who arrived yesterday. The two are in Singapore for a few days as part of their Diamond Jubilee tour through Asia, celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 50-year reign. And, it just so happens the Queen also stayed at the Raffles during a March 2006 visit to the country.
If we were to wager some Singapore Slings (though we've read Kate isn't drinking these days), we'd say the couple will stay in the Grand Hotel Suite, which we've written about before and have lovely pictures for you to lust over.

Not all of your Easter plans have to involve chasing down sugar-crazed tykes, who are in turn chasing down the Easter Bunny, who is in turn looking for the nearest dive bar. You could instead pack for an overnighter and take a much-deserved getaway to one of the first class rooms on the seventh floor of Radisson Bloomsbury in London.
While technically all of the rooms in all Radisson Blu Edwardian London hotels this month are offering a free chocolate Easter egg, free full English breakfast and free room upgrade for an Easter package starting at £135/night, only room 7007 in the Radisson Bloomsbury contains what might be London's coolest piece of hotel furniture: the hanging egg chair.

It's no wonder that The May Fair continues to stay on our most-loved London hotels list. Between lost sheep drama, hotel-branded cigarette jeans and the yellow-tastic Amarillo Suite, there's just a lot to love.
Right now, we're big-time crushing on their new Ebony Suite, whose bathroom has, yes, an illuminated tub. The bathroom was fitted out by Japanese toilet manufacturer Toto (the same company that built a toilet trike, and actually had someone ride it around Tokyo) and features other nifty details like color-changing sinks, remote control toilet, and a horizontal-stream shower.

Yeah, the Bieb knows how to sleep around. After being spotted at the Dream Downtown's lobby restaurant last weekend, he found another, less scene-y spot for him and Selena Gomez to do a little dinner-and-a-movie action in a swank suite for Valentine's Day—except we're guessing there was a lot less "dinner" than "movie" going on, if you know what we mean...wink, wink.

What's it like shacking up in the middle of the rainforest for a few days? Not as bad as you'd think! The independently-owned Gamboa Rainforest Resort went up 12 years ago, and was built as a way for visitors to experience the rainforest of Panama, while still enjoying all the luxuries of a full-service hotel—like tiled bathrooms, a Club Lounge, and air conditioning.
Technically, the resort isn't too, too far from civilization—it's only about a 45-minute drive from Panama City. But by the look (just trees and rivers for miles), feel (kinda woodsy), and sound of it (birds!), you'd think you were in it for the long haul. And that's just how owner Herman Bern wanted it: "The great thing about Gamboa," he told us, "is you go out fishing on a boat, and all of a sudden, you could be in the middle of the Amazon. Then, in half an hour, you can go back to the city and have a glass of champagne."
Take a tour of one of the suites, below!

It's Guess the Hotel revealed!
Were you able to figure anything out from the video we posted on Friday? Two people called out The Chatwal, which was correct! We were there last week, in the Producer's Suite on the tenth floor, to watch a new promotional video by Luxury Collection called HERE.
If you're at all restless like us, you might wind up booking an impromptu trip to Vermont, Scottsdale and/or Hawaii after you watch it. The 15-minute film is set at Equinox Resort & Spa, The Phoenician and The Royal Hawaiian, Waikiki successively, and each hotel comes off looking more idyllic than the next.

Affinia lovers, get out your checkbooks. After debuting the new look last summer, Affinia Manhattan is now putting one of its pretty, flower-themed rooms up for auction. But rather than long weekend-ers or tourists, the deal is actually aimed at business travelers and commuters, who visit the city on a frequent basis.
Every Sunday night for a year, the auction winner can come home to a 1-bedroom suite inside the Affinia Manhattan. And every week, it will be exactly the same (you can even leave your stuff in the closets!).
Which is why, for a wide-eyed tourist hungry to see all the sights, this situation wouldn't be that ideal. But for tireless business travelers, who benefit from consistency and routine (and only really want a quiet place to play with their stuffed animals), this could be a match made in heaven. As long as you're willing to duke it out on the auction block, that is.
