Jenga! More Photos of Edition Hotel Bangkok Revealed

August 5, 2009 at 2:36 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Hotels Magazine has also discovered the forthcoming Edition Hotel Bangkok in all its Jenga-esque glory. But that's not all that's inside this hotel.

After you remove one block and place it on top of the pile, a Ritz-Carlton Residences is revealed with 200 "customized single-level and duplex condos." The 150-room Edition Hotel, spawned from Bill Marriott and Ian Schrager, will be also be a part of the 77-story tower, which will be the tallest hotel in Bangkok and include "a landscaped outdoor public plaza, 110,000-square-feet of retail space, gardens and terraces spread over several levels for restaurants, cafes, and a 24 hour marketplace." (Hotels Mag has a plethora of renderings to check out.)

But goshdarnit, why does Bangkok have to be so far away? We are still hoping Bill and Ian open one in the continental U.S. before then. Also far away? The opening date which is still projected to be 2012. Construction should begin this fall.

2010: A W Shanghai Odyssey

June 16, 2008 at 8:59 AM | by amandak | 2 Comments

We've come across some computer-generated pics of what the coming W Shanghai - Pudong is meant to look like, and they've really got some hotel of the future theme happening here. In fact it's scheduled to open up in 2010, but we're thinking this futuristic thing needs a bit more time.

Details on the W Shanghai are sketchy at the moment but there are a bunch of different renderings doing the rounds--some that make the two towers totally look like light sabers, and this one that combines the light saber look with some futuristic hope that we'll all be arriving by helicopter.

What we do actually know is that there'll be 400 suites and guest rooms, five restaurants and a huge spa. It's being built in the Lujiazui financial district which we guess is why the W website makes unfunny jokes like this::

We have everything you need to stay on top of the game in Shanghai's booming scene, abacus not included.

And this:

Artisan calligraphy and Blackberrys. Taichi lessons and access to the hottest clubs

Sneak Peek :: The W Atlanta Buckhead

June 13, 2008 at 12:51 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

In case you didn't know, W Hotels has gone all crazy for Hotlanta and will have four W Hotels open in the city by the end of next year.

One of them will be the W Atlanta Buckhead which is undergoing a transformation from Crown Plaza ugly duckling to a beautiful W Swan. Or is it?

Tipster KB found these renderings of the hotel and sent them our way. KB says:

It's, um... interesting to say the least.

Actually, we're kind of happy it's not the same-old, same-old W design. But this sort of looks like the rooms inside a Kor Hotel, the LA-based hotel group that counts the Viceroy and the Tides among its brands. It's also got a touch or Morgans Hotel Group in it too. We say the designer smackdown is on!

Two more pictures after the jump

First Look at The Avia Napa Renderings

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Napa Town Center [map], Napa, CA, United States, 94559
October 11, 2007 at 12:10 PM | by pbb | 0 Comments

Last week we informed you that Avia Hotels was getting in on the boutique hotel chain game. While the new boutique property Avia Savannah is scheduled to be the first of the chain to open--in December 2008--it's the Avia Napa property we're seeing the most of. Normally we don't like to run renderings instead of photos, but these are the first look at what could turn into a big brand.

The Napa location will be at the Town Center, and plans call for 141 rooms and suites. Some rooms will have soaking tubs and all will have working fireplaces and olive wood floors. We're also eager to see more of the swiveling flat-screen entertainment center.

After the jump, a look inside Avia.
