Get a Fourth Night Free at The Former W Hotels, The Court and The Tuscany

May 27, 2010 at 10:50 AM | by | Comments (0)

U.K. budget hotel brand St. Giles only added former W Hotels The Tuscany and The Court to its collection last month, but it wants to celebrate its new properties by giving you a free night in one of them.

If you book a four-night stay at either hotel from June 6 to September 6, you'll get the fourth night for free. So you'll have three full months to take advantage of the buy-four-get-one-free deal—we'll definitely celebrate that. A room at The Court costs around $259, while The Tuscany charges about $269 for a room, so the free night would be a nice savings.

Ooh, look, the scaffolding has come down! NYC's newest hotel, Fashion 26 was understandably excited about this momentous occasion, which happened over the weekend in Chelsea. The opening on April 5 was almost here! And then ... And then came the rain.

Torrential rain in New York on Monday and Tuesday forced construction workers at the Fashion 26 site to switch gears from "finishing touches" to "flood-watch." We're glad to hear that the damage was minor, and the hotel's opening has only been delayed two days—to April 7.

'World's Smallest Pop-Up Hotel' To Take London By Storm

February 26, 2010 at 9:15 AM | by | Comments (0)

Much like kiddie bloggers, pop-up stores are all the rage in the fashion world. So we're not that surprised that the pop-up concept has shifted to hotels.

The latest pop-up hotel is billed as the "world's smallest pop-up hotel" from VisitLondon.com and Radisson Edwardian Hotels. But this isn't a cardboard box or anything--it's actually an airstream trailer that's staffed with a concierge, a check-in desk, room service, a flat-screen TV, a sound system, fridge and dining room area plus a double bed with "luxury bedding" and most importantly, en-suite facilities.

Passport Magazine reports that the mobile hotel will make its way around the popular tourist attractions in London from March 15-19 but the only way to win a night's stay here is by entering online. The competition closes on March 7 so hop to it! In the meantime, watch the video tour here.

Lawyers are probably the last people you’d think need a hotel discount, but that’s just what they’re getting at the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park next month. Perhaps the Financial District hotel is sick of the area’s Wall Street bankers? Or maybe this is just an admission of the kind of clientele the R-C Battery Park likes to cultivate?

We already told you about one Jersey hotel that won’t be luring the MTV Jersey Shore crew anytime soon. Now, here’s one much more likely to draw Snooki and the Stituation: the W Hoboken.

Not because it was reviewed by the New York Times this weekend. Oh, no. Forget highbrow journalism. It’s the pole that will reel them in.

This month, the W Hoboken is offering S-Factor workout classes as part of a Girls’ Night Out promotion. S-Factor, in case you don’t know, is a blend of striptease, ballet, and yoga, and all the rage with celebs like Kate Hudson.

Hilton Puts Weekends On Sale But Are They Worth It?

January 6, 2010 at 1:23 PM | by | Comments (0)

Ooh, January sales! We love us a good shoe bargain but we love a deal on our next vacation even more. One of the first hotel chain deals of the new year comes from Hilton, although our initial excitement turned to the kind of disappointment you get when you find just one lone shoe on the sale rack with no partner.

The deal sounds good—Hilton are offering up to 50% off weekend stays at participating hotels worldwide. But the savings are more like 20% or 33% off at some properties, and try as we might, we struggled to find any properties in Europe offering the discount, and we plugged in a variety of cities and dates.

The good part is the deal is for any trip during 2010—as long as you book before January 31. And kudos to Hilton for giving us discounts on weekends—usually you have to travel mid-week to save on rates.

The Hard Rock San Diego will get all shook up and throw Elvis a birthday party January 8, which would have marked the King's 75th.

The daylong celebration will include free cake and an update on Elvis' favorite snack, the peanut butter and banana sandwich. Mini Hot Elvis sammies are made with a thick brioche bread smothered in butter, spread with peanut butter and banana slices, then griddled until melty. The minis will be free for hotel guests staying overnight January 8. But if you crave more, the hotel's Maryjane's restaurant will serve up full-size versions that come with fries for $4, which is half off the regular price.
