Hopefully you've paid off those Christmas credit card bills by now and had a great time relaxing and celebrating the New Year. But how many of you came back to a desk piled with papers and a long to-do list? One vacation creates the need for another, and there's no doubt that this is why millions of Americans choose not to use their vacation days.
While no person or company can stop that mindset on their own, Hilton has teamed up with The Onion in an attempt to humorously motivate people to take short long-weekend type trips this winter. The theory is that weekend getaways and staycations (yeah, that word is still around) are manageable because you only have to take off one day (at most) and it's enough time to relax without creating more work upon your return. Apparently, sometimes one extra day off on either side of a weekend can make a big difference.
You might dread the idea of visiting Miami in the summer, but thanks to annual promotions like Miami Spa Month, which kicks off on Sunday, it's actually not as bad as you might think. (Miami Spice, the restaurant version, starts on August 1).
Throughout July and August, Miami's best spas--most of them in cool hotels--are offering special treatments for just $99 plus tax and gratuities. This is one of our favorite ways to experience a hot hotel without having to pay hundreds to check in.
While all the South Beach stars like Delano, Mondrian and the Standard are on the list, there are some other spas on this list that we consider sleeper hits--lesser-known gems totally worth checking out during Miami Spa Month.

It isn't often that a hotel lets you have a say in the price of your stay. But that's exactly what Victoria BC's Hotel Grand Pacific is offering for the next two weeks. Running through next Friday November 11, prospective guests can visit the PayWhatYouWantVictoria site, answer some survey questions, and enter a price that they feel best reflects the "worth" of a one-night stay at the waterfront hotel.
When we first heard about this, we immediately thought of when Radiohead released In Rainbows in 2007, becoming the first band to ever release a digital album without an actual price—customers chose how much they wanted to pay, and that was that. By doing so, the band was challenging the conventional record distribution process, and the aging music industry in general. But in this case, the motives are a little more complex.
Ever since we watched Macaulay Culkin order room service from his Plaza suite in Home Alone 2, we've fantasized about combining two of life's greatest pleasures: ice cream and fancy hotels. This Sunday happens to be National Ice Cream Day (don't say you've never heard of it!), as declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, and we've done our best to compile the top hotel participants.
The pet-loving Loews hotel chain has been celebrating ice cream all month long, so now it's time to catch up. From 4pm to 5pm daily, roaming carts filled with bomb pops, ice cream sandwiches, fudgesicles and creamsicles will be stationed in the lobbies of all 18 Loews Hotel properties across North America. For free!
Tiger Woods may have lost a few sponsorships and fans after his whole cheating scandal (not to mention a wife!) but he's still got a few people in his corner, including a hotel.
At the five-star Grove resort in Hertfordshire (sister hotel to London's Athenaeum), golf fanatics can visit the site of Tiger Woods' 2006 World Golf Championship victory. And they can even attempt to re-create the exact same shot that scored Tiger his winning "eagle."
The hotel, which maintains a championship-quality course, has installed three plaques in the lawn near to what is now the ninth hole of the course (when Tiger played in 2006, it was the final eighteenth hole). Simply locate the plaques, and try to pull off the same trick that Tiger managed not once, not twice—but three days in a row. The pressure is on!
They're at it again. The ever-busy Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau have a new marketing toy to play with--a promo and website called MiamiRomanceMonth.com, which plays up June as the month of brides and grooms.
But how are the hotels involved? For starters, next week five
crazy loved-up couples will battle it out for a chance to win a $150,000 wedding at the fancy Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.

In January, we gasped about the Hudson Hotel room that squeezed in up to 20 people for a mini production of the Tennessee Williams play Green Eyes. Today, we're focusing on another of their ample spaces—the exclusive, guests-only, fifteenth-floor Sky Terrace. Yes, it is quite large. And yes, the vibe is a little high-flown. But, no, we're not just telling you all this to make you jealous! It turns out that Sky Terrace, which launched its summer event series last Thursday, has chosen to open up their sought-after venue to Foursquare and Twitter enthusiasts. Because, as we have shown before, if you're not racing to reward your guests through social media promotions and contests, be assured that another equally-suitable hotel will.
We're all about free hotel goodies, especially if it's a free night. You can score a free night at Conrad Hotels & Resorts as part of its 25th anniversary celebration.
Of course, you're asking, what's the catch? All you have to do is book a minimum of either two to six consecutive nights at any of the 16 Conrad hotels for your spring vacay. Bali sounds good right about now.
If there’s one place we’d love to have a blowout on New Year’s Eve, it’d be Edinburgh. Which is unfortunate, because it means we’re sorely tempted by the deal that the George Hotel has going for Hogmanay right now.
It’s auctioning off its massive Panorama suite – which comes with a roof terrace looking over Edinburgh Castle and across as far as Fife – for the 31st. And, even more winningly, it’s in aid of charity, too.
We already told you about some of the best Fashion's Night Out Hotel Deals for September 10. But if you're feeling as flush with cash as a September issue is with ads, you'll want to head straight to the St. Regis New York. That's where you'll find the most OTT Fashion's Night Out package on offer.
For a start, this deal actually includes two tickets to the Fashion's Night Out fashion show taking place on the evening of September 7, and a chauffeured town car at your disposal for cruising Fashion's Night Out events throughout the city on September 10.
It all started with the cabana blowout at the W South Beach. Now, the waiting list for Miami Heat season tickets is jammed and every business in town is King-ing up their product in order to cash in on the city's newest resident, LeBron James.
Hotels are—of course—chief among them. Here are Five Heat-Crazy Hotel Packages and Promos For People Who Love LeBron.
U.K. budget hotel brand St. Giles only added former W Hotels The Tuscany and The Court to its collection last month, but it wants to celebrate its new properties by giving you a free night in one of them.
If you book a four-night stay at either hotel from June 6 to September 6, you'll get the fourth night for free. So you'll have three full months to take advantage of the buy-four-get-one-free deal—we'll definitely celebrate that. A room at The Court costs around $259, while The Tuscany charges about $269 for a room, so the free night would be a nice savings.
