Sheraton Maui Gives You Notescast For Your iPod

We love our iPod and we love anything new we get to do with it. Call us suckers for technology, but we actually do think it's cool that the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa has got together a Notescast for iPods.
What that means is you can download a file off their site onto your iPod and bingo, you get a mini-website of information to enjoy whenever you want. The Sheraton's Notescast has got 81 pages of info so you can move around and find out pretty much anything you need to know, and you can make your friends jealous even before you leave by showing them pictures.
Now, skeptics, we see the obvious comment here: why do all this on a tiny iPod screen when there's this whole big internet thing where you can probably get all the same information. The answer: because you can. Reason enough, right?

Hotel Mela Sells New York With Podcasts

Manhattan's Hotel Mela loves to be trendy. Remember their designer uniforms with the 007 look? This time round they're getting hi-tech trendy by launching a series of podcasts for guests to get to know what's happening in New York, with the podcasts proudly hosted by "Your Manager of Desires". A nod to the hotel's management firm, Desires Hotels.
Starting off with the Welcome podcast and followed up by the Grand Opening podcast with linked photo gallery, the Mela podcast series now appears to be following a weekly pattern of "What's Hot the Week of ...". Two editions in and they've covered the best places to spend Halloween in New York and a special mention of the New York marathon, plus plenty of other little tidbits of happenings, and sound like they'll continue to cover the New York issues of the moment.
We've just got three small complaints about these podcasts: at some stage, these long lists of restaurants and concerts with address and pricing details start to sound just like a bunch of advertising; you can't subscribe to the podcasts even if you wanted to; and small but annoying: the they-probably-think-it's-funky music that comes with the website has to be manually switched off even if you've opened a podcast and want to listen to that instead. But hey, who are we to knock hotels trying to do something a bit modern.

Arizona Biltmore Resort Skips Blogging, Goes Right to Podcasting

The Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa has launched podcasts for its hotel guests (past, present and future) that detail the amenities and experiences awaiting them at the resort. Six podcasts have been created ranging from a "conversation" with the chef and winemaker of the Frog Leap Restauranta to a history lesson of the hotel to a look at the treatments offered in the spa.
"Through our podcasts, we can connect with the affluent, tech-savvy consumers of today who are looking to enjoy the finer things in life," said General Manager Sean Maddock. "Podcasts allow us to differentiate and personalize the resort, while informing guests of all the wonderful amenities and experiences awaiting them at the Arizona Biltmore."
Wow, what will hotels think of next? If you're interested you can download the podcasts through the hotel website or iTunes and listen to them on your iPod or computer. And we just remembered the Arizona Biltmore is managed by Hilton Hotels and is actually a member of their Waldorf-Astoria Collection. Could the Waldorf blog or podcast be far behind?
